Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of August 4, 2008
Monday
When Jack mentioned he'd consider printing a fifth edition of Restless Style because it was doing so well, Sharon questioned if he had a heart. Jack assured her he wouldn't wish what was happening to Victor on his worst enemy. Sharon said she wished Victor understood publishing the article was strictly business. Jack warned her that since Sabrina was dead, Victor would never let go of what they'd done, and that they were in for a fight.
At the hospital, Nick comforted Victoria when she beat herself up for being so cold to Victor throughout his relationship with Sabrina. Nick said he understood, but it wasn't their fault since Victor had pushed them away. Inside Sabrina's room, Nikki tried to apologize and told Victor she wanted to support him and become friends again. Victor screamed at her, and blamed her for Sabrina's death. "I can't stand you," he yelled. When nurses came in to remove Sabrina's body, Victor kissed her goodbye and covered her with the sheets. After they left, Nikki tried talking to Victor, but he refused to listen. He insisted Sabrina was dead because David was a killer, and Nikki was responsible for bringing David into their lives. When Nick and Victoria took their mother home, Nick said Nikki shouldn't have gone to the hospital. Nikki said she had to offer her condolences, no matter how Victor treated her.
Karen joined Anna and Devon at the coffee shop, and Devon told her he needed her support on something before he went to Neil. Karen said she'd be glad to help, but she wasn't sure if she was the one who had any influence over Neil, hinting at his growing relationship with Tyra. Devon told her he wanted to go back to pursuing a career in music. Karen was on board until Devon said he wanted to drop out of school to practice music full time, but she agreed to tell Neil with Devon.
At home, Tyra sat with Neil while he dealt with the news of Sabrina's death. Neil told Tyra how supportive Victor was when Dru died, but later apologized for being so melancholy. Tyra grabbed his hand and encouraged him to share his feelings. Neil told her the story of how Dru died, and how he still had nightmares. He thanked Tyra for listening, and she told him she'd give anything for a love like that. Neil found it hard to believe Tyra hadn't been lucky in love. When the two hugged each other, Karen, Anna and Devon walked in on them. Tyra and Anna excused themselves so Devon, Neil and Karen could speak alone. When Devon told Neil he wanted to drop out of school, Neil was angry, but Devon asked him to consider supporting him. Karen then asked Tyra to help her with her bags outside, and coldly told her that she hoped she'd be looking for her own place since she finally had a job.
When Victor left the hospital, he went to Sabrina's office and listened to music while he reflected on his tragic loss. Jack heard the music and left the Restless Style offices to confront Victor, but once he saw Victor grieving he turned and walked away before Victor spotted him.
Tuesday
Victor packed up the last of Sabrina's things to donate them to her favorite charity. When Michael arrived, he was surprised that Victor was already getting rid of Sabrina's things. He urged his friend to wait until he'd grieved, but Victor said he was ready. Michael and Victor discussed Sabrina's funeral, and Michael was surprised Victor hadn't called Sabrina's mother, adding that she had to find out through the media. Victor was unresponsive, so Adam asked Michael to leave. Michael refused to go until Victor told him to and until the funeral arrangements were complete.
At Crimson Lights, Colleen refused to serve Amber, but Daniel asked her to be nice. Cane and Lily showed up, and they all talked about how strange and sad it was that Sabrina and David died. When Chloe walked in, she told everyone she was pregnant with Cane's baby. Lily and Cane were embarrassed that Chloe mentioned it, but maintained that Chloe was making the pregnancy up. Daniel was surprised by the news, but he agreed to keep his meeting with Chloe. They sat down to talk about a photo shoot, but Chloe couldn't keep her eyes off of Cane. When she got up to get more tea, Daniel sat down with Lily and said he was sorry about the baby drama. Lily said she was sorry about Amber and Adrian.
Later, Cane asked Lily why she hadn't told him about the ultrasound picture Chloe showed her. Lily said she didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but Cane said the problem wouldn't go away if they ignored it. Colleen offered to throw Chloe and Amber out, but Lily told her to take it easy on Amber because she'd had it hard enough. After having enough of Chloe, Lily demanded she take a paternity test to prove Cane was the father of her baby.
At home, Devon told Tyra about his plans to drop out of college and pursue a music career full-time. Tyra told Devon if Anna wanted to do the same thing, she'd urge her to get a degree first. Neil walked in and was happy to hear Tyra agreed with him. Devon was a little disappointed that they agreed with each other. When he left, Neil found ads for apartment rentals. Tyra told him she and Anna were moving out, but Neil asked her to stay. Tyra didn't tell Neil how Karen had asked her to leave, but she said she'd consider staying.
Paul went to the stables to prepare Athena for her new home, and he caught a whiff of a foul smell. As he investigated, he found the smell was stronger near a trap door in the floor. When he opened it, he instructed the stable owner to call the cops. When the cops arrived, they found pieces of a body. Paul told J.T. it was a woman, and that her teeth and fingers were missing. Paul also told him that Adam's friend was missing, and she'd played poker with David shortly before she disappeared. Paul called Heather to meet him at the crime scene, and Heather told Adam she had to cancel their plans. When she told Adam a female body had been found, Adam insisted he go with her. When they arrived on scene, the detectives were searching the area. They found a piece of jewelry and showed it to Adam. He was devastated when he recognized that it was Skye's.
Wednesday
At Crimson Lights, Paul told Michael he'd found the man who may be his father. He reported that Lowell Baldwin was in prison for petty larceny. Michael was disappointed his dad was a criminal, but happy he wasn't locked up for murder. Lauren asked Michael if he was content knowing where his dad was, or if he wanted to go farther with the search. Michael wasn't sure, but they decided it would be best to just let it go and not visit Lowell since he couldn't become any real part of his life. Kevin thought Michael should see Lowell anyway.
Daniel sat at a nearby table working on a sketch of Sabrina. Jana complimented him on his art, and he told her Sabrina had commissioned him to sketch it as a surprise for Victor. Jana thought Daniel should still give it to Victor. Before the memorial service, Daniel dropped the sketch off at the ranch. Victor thanked him, but didn't look at it. He asked Daniel to show himself out.
At Victoria's, Nick and Phyllis debated selling out of Restless Style. Nick didn't want to give up, but Phyllis thought they should make a clean break. When Victoria and J.T. were ready, Nick and Phyllis joined them and went to Sabrina's funeral, while Nikki stayed behind. Paul soon showed up to check on her, and tell her that a body had been found in Athena's stable. Nikki was horrified when Paul suggested David was responsible. While he explained, David's ashes were delivered. Paul offered to dispose of them, but Nikki said she'd handle it.
When Karen stopped by Neil's apartment on the way to the funeral, she was annoyed to find Tyra helping Neil get dressed. When they arrived at the service, Neil told Karen he was concerned that Tyra was looking for a new place. Karen thought it was time for her to move out. She admitted that she'd asked Tyra to look for her own place, and Neil was angry that she'd interfered.
When Adam arrived, Nick and Victoria asked how Victor was doing, but Adam was furious. He told them that he'd lost Skye because of David, and that it was Nikki's fault. Victoria was crushed to hear Adam speak about her mother that way, and Nick told Adam to back off. Adam replied that they shouldn't even be at the funeral, since they treated Sabrina poorly and hadn't checked on Victor since she died.
When Jill arrived, Victoria tried to persuade her to get Nikki back into the office. However, Jill held Nikki responsible for the mess David caused for Jabot, and thought it was best she didn't return at all. Victoria said if Nikki couldn't return she wouldn't either, and Jill told her to suit herself.
While everyone wondered why Victor hadn't showed up, Nick and Michael began to worry. When the reverend arrived, he told them that Victor had canceled the ceremony and had a private burial that only he attended. Everyone was shocked by Victor's actions. Nick, Victoria, J.T. and Phyllis went looking for Victor, but they weren't able to find him. After Michael arranged for the food to be sent to a shelter, he decided to use the extra time to go visit his dad in prison.
Thursday
Katherine went to the ranch to see Nikki and told her that Victor had canceled Sabrina's funeral and had a private burial without telling anyone. Nikki was shocked, and figured Victor was in more pain than she thought. Katherine told Nikki she was more concerned about her. Nikki admitted that the morphine she was on sparked her urges to drink, but she told Katherine she's stayed strong. Katherine asked her where she'd been the night before. Nikki replied that she'd gone to dispose of David's ashes.
At the main house, everyone tried to figure out where Victor had disappeared to. Adam said he was taking over Newman Enterprises in Victor's absence, and Paul and J.T. told Victoria and Nick that foul play might be involved. No one new Victor left town by his own accord on a bus. Nick wanted to alert the FBI, but Adam said it would draw too much negative attention to the family and the company. Adam accused Nick of being jealous because he felt he'd been replaced. Adam also dropped the bomb that Nick had been cut out of Victor's will. Nick accused Adam of hoping Victor stayed missing so he could inherit all of the money sooner. The brothers began to fight, and Neil and Paul had to pull them off of each other. Later, Nick asked Victoria if she'd heard about being cut out of the will. Victoria told him she knew, but that she'd forgotten to tell him because she'd been preoccupied. Nick was devastated, but more concerned about finding Victor. When Victoria left the ranch, she went to Sabrina's gravesite to say goodbye to her former best friend.
Michael came face-to-face with his father in prison and asked him why he'd left him and Gloria. Lowell said he was running from the war, not his wife and son. He said he'd lost track of them, but Michael didn't understand how he could lose track of his family. Lowell said leaving was the hardest thing he'd ever done. When Michael asked him about Gloria, he couldn't give him a description of her. Michael asked Lowell, "Don't you remember your own sister?" When Lowell tried to defend himself and said Gloria was "a hell of a sister," Michael grabbed his handcuffs and asked him who he was and what happened to his real father. Michael threatened to turn him in if he didn't answer, so "Lowell" confessed that he and his father had switched identities. He added that he remembered Lowell talking about Michael often, but that he hadn't seen him in over 15 years. Michael was crushed that he still hadn't found his father, and wondered what he should do next.
At Lily and Cane's, Chloe put up a fuss about taking a DNA test, but Cane scheduled an appointment with a professional to administer the test at their home. Chloe remained confident that she would be proven right, while Cane and Lily hoped the test would rid them of Chloe once and for all. After the test, Lily kicked Chloe out. Once alone, Cane finally popped the question to Lily and she accepted.
Friday
Paul, JT, Adam, Nick and Neil discussed how to handle Victor's absence. JT thought they couldn't rule out foul play. "At least we haven't received any ransom notes," JT said. Adam didn't think it was a good idea to notify the FBI. Neil reminded them that Victor had disappeared before. Nick told his brother to stop worrying about Newman industries. "Our father could be hurt somewhere," he said. Lily called her dad. "We need to talk," he told his daughter. They made plans to meet at the house. Neil remembered that Jana told him about Cane's part in Chloe's pregnancy.
Lily stared at her engagement ring and remembered the proposal — when Cane had put it in a fortune cookie. Neil knocked on the door and Lily proudly showed off her ring. Lily assured her dad that marrying Cane wouldn't interfere with school. Neil told her to listen. "Your friend Chloe is pregnant with Cane's baby," he said. Cane burst in. "Is Chloe Mitchell pregnant with your baby," Neil asked not missing a beat. Cane insisted he was not father. "I would not cheat on your daughter," Cane vowed. Cane got a call from the hospital. Apparently, Chloe was there and had put him down as the contact.
Neil read Adam's notes on Granville Global. Adam wanted to jump on the opportunity. Neil, who announced he was in charge, wanted to wait until after the election. Adam made it clear he was ruling the ranch by ordering a nice dinner to be prepared when Heather came to visit. Heather arrived and
told Adam all about the press conference. She was so happy to be back in the DA's office. Adam told Heather that Victor is missing. "The safe was found open and empty," he said. Adam said he was looking for clues in Victor's computer but had found nothing. Adam said he didn't want a media circus.
JT and Paul caught up. Paul was having Victor's cell phone record looked into. Paul thought there might be some mob involvement. "Victor has made a lot of enemies," JT explained, adding that Sabrina's death had hit Victor hard. Paul learned that Victor's phone had been traced to the cemetery.
Jack announced proudly that the third issue of Restless Style sold through the roof. Sharon said that some pretty big celebrities were wanting to be on their cover. "What can we do to top the Sabrina exposé," he asked.
Nick and Phyllis met at the coffee house. Nick brought her up to speed about Victor's disappearance. Brad met them. "Why aren't we meeting at the magazine," he asked. "I don't want Jack and Sharon in on this," Nick explained. Nick went on to say that his partnership with Jack "sucks." Nick said he wants to buy Jack out and offered Brad part ownership. "You must really hate Jack," Brad said. Nick and Phyllis said they'd be doing the day to day stuff. They assured Brad he'd get a great payoff. Brad said he'd insist on having input. Brad said he didn't want any outside distractions and told them no. Brad admitted he wants to be CEO of Jabot. "Jill does what's best for Jill," Phyllis warned him. "I have to pass. Have a good day," he said. Nick was bummed but Phyllis thought they had dodged a bullet. "He doesn't follow the rules," she said. Nick walked off.
Cane told Jill that he proposed and Lily accepted. Jill told her son she wants to appoint him the new CEO of Jabot cosmetics. "You are serious aren't you," Cane said. Cane thought it was a wonderful idea now that he was getting married. Brad paid Jill a visit. "Have a minute?" he asked. "You can tell me when I am going to be named CEO." Brad added that he wanted a timetable. Jill assured him that she was not stringing him along. "When the time is right, you will be well taken care of," she promised. Jill left for the day. Jill's secretary told Brad that she had given Cane files on the company stocks for the past three years. Brad called Jack wanting a meeting where "Nick or Phyllis wouldn't be around."
Heather held a press convergence and added that David killed Ji Min. "It is our belief that Mr. Chow is involved in a number of mob hits," he said. "Wow, I'll be damned," Jack said as he watched the press conference. Jack wanted to tell the tale of money, sex and murder. "This will make the Sabrina story read like Mary Poppins," Jack said with glee. "Doing a story on David Chow would be quite a story," Sharon admitted, but worried because it would involve many people they knew. She was particularly concerned about Nick. Sharon thought they needed Nikki's cooperation.
Jack paid Nikki a visit. She was surprised to see him. "David's gambling seems like the good old days," she quipped. Jack said he wanted to do an exposé on David Chow. "Is this some kind of a sick joke," Nikki said. Nikki grew angry. "I feel stupid enough," she said. Jack tried to convince her she'd get the sympathy of the entire nation. Jack said he'd do the story with or without her help. Nikki told Jack that Victor was missing. Nikki called Nick and told him about Jack's visit. Nick promised he'd take care of it.
Jack told Sharon about his failed meeting with Nikki. Jack still wanted to do the story. Sharon warned him to tread carefully. Jack told his wife that Victor had disappeared. Nick charged in and practically forbid Jack to do the story. "I'm not selling out my family to sell magazines," Nick said.
Nikki asked Paul for the Victor Update. Paul reported that they had found Victor's wallet, cell phone and epilepsy medicine buried near Sabrina's grave. Nikki cradled a picture of herself with Victor. We then saw Victor drinking shots at some dive bar who knows where.
