Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of October 6, 2008

Monday

Phyllis awakened and found Nick in bed with her. He reported that he'd
gotten home late after dealing with Noah. Phyllis didn't think Noah
attending a party was a big deal, but Nick explained that there was beer at
the event. Phyllis wondered if Sharon was having a hard time dealing.

Meanwhile, Sharon took Noah to Crimson Lights for breakfast. Noah was
annoyed with her for making him get up early on the weekend, but she had a
specific punishment in mind for him — cleaning out the stalls at the Newman
Ranch.

Jack wondered how Billy was enjoying being back in town. Billy compared it
to the Twilight Zone, explaining that he now had a new brother, Cane, who
was in charge of Jabot. Jack was confident that Cane would only have the
position until they got Jabot back. Gloria interrupted and used a code
Subject — termites — to bring up the Jabot scheme. Billy noticed Glo's
bracelet and remarked about her spending John's money; she replied that it
was a gift from Jeffrey. After she left, Billy wondered why Jack was letting
her live at the Abbott manse. Jack explained that he was trying to keep his
enemies close.

Billy went to Jabot, where Jill and Kay were arguing over Cane's decision to
make Colleen the Fresh Face of Jabot (Jill was against it; Kay was for it).
Kay was thrilled to see her grandson. Meanwhile, Gloria and Jack chatted
about Jabot; he reported that Billy and Traci gave him their proxies. Gloria
stated that they shouldn't rush Kay about her stocks, but he pushed her to
make things happen quickly.... Billy questioned Jill about having Cane be
the new CEO of Jabot. Jill explained that they were in the middle of a
crisis and had to act quickly. Billy was still upset that she hadn't called
on him. After, Billy made a call to check on a company that was the third
largest shareholder of Jabot.

Jana and Kevin were all lovey-dovey at Crimson Lights. Kevin then picked up
the paper and learned that River's trial was being moved to Genoa City.
Meanwhile, Lauren read the same article at home. Michael regretted telling
Eden that River was being tried for murder; Eden wanted to go to the prison
to talk to her father. Later, Eden confronted River about the article in the
paper. He claimed his innocence and said that he didn't want her to worry.
Eden was upset with him for lying to her. Michael tried to assure her that
the case wasn't hopeless, but Eden freaked and ran out of the room. Later,
Lauren tried to comfort Eden, who was still reeling from the news....
Michael advised River on how to make himself more presentable to the jury.
Michael wanted to use Eden as a character witness, but River refused to let
that happen.

At the coffeehouse, Gloria watched as Kevin chatted with Kay. Later, Glo
again implored Kevin to take advantage of Kay's "senior moments" so they
could get her Jabot stock. Later, Gloria instructed Kevin to hotwire Kay's
car and move it a few blocks so she'd think she couldn't remember where she
put it. The plan worked and a confused Kay wondered why she couldn't find
her vehicle. Glo and Kevin "helped" her find it.

Sharon returned home and filled in Jack on the Noah drama. Jack flashed back
to seeing her and Nick embracing. Jack felt badly that he hadn't been around
to help; Sharon replied that Nick was there. Sharon then asked Jack about
his trip and he lied that it was "uneventful." He wondered why she'd doubted
he was with Ashley; Sharon explained that Phyllis put the idea into her
head.... At Restless Style, Nick asked Phyllis why she'd told Sharon Jack
was lying about his whereabouts. Phyll replied that she felt Sharon deserved
to know the truth. Nick insisted that Jack hadn't been lying to Sharon and
implored his wife to get along with Sharon for Noah's sake. Phyllis was
ready to move on and presented him with their first issue of Restless Style.
Nick was furious when he read Phyllis's editor's note, which blasted Jack
and Sharon.... Sharon was still angry with Jack for not telling her that
he'd also went to New York in addition to L.A. Jack apologized and promised
to keep her in the loop next time. Later, Nick paid Sharon a visit and
apologized to her for Phyllis's note. He made sure that Sharon knew that he
didn't share his wife's opinion.... Billy questioned Jack about the company
he did a background check on, but Jack insisted that he wasn't associated
with it. Billy suspected that Gloria was Jack's silent partner, but when he
asked Jack, his brother denied it. Billy wasn't convinced.

Tuesday

Phyllis was annoyed with Nick for giving Sharon a warning about Phyllis's
scathing editor's note. Phyllis thought that Nick should stop being so
protective of his ex. Nick explained that he didn't want Phyll bashing
Noah's mother. She argued that adults need to suck things up and not run to
their ex-husbands — like Sharon's been doing. "She didn't run to me. I went
to her," Nick said. "She has a husband. Let him comfort her," Phyllis
answered. Meanwhile, Sharon overheard Jack making what sounded like an
important phone call and accused him of keeping secrets. He explained that
he was making a call about something else. Sharon didn't believe him; he
replied that he was trying to do something to put their marriage back on
track. Jack then presented Sharon with a surprise: a trip to the Bahamas.
Sharon wasn't sure that the timing was right, but Jack really wanted to fix
their marriage.... Nick and Phyllis made up and hit the sheets, but then
argued over Sharon again. "You're my woman," Nick assured his wife.... Jack
apologized to Sharon for pushing her, but was determined to bring the
passion back into their relationship. She didn't want him to make grand
gestures all the time. "Can't we just talk?" Sharon asked. Jack admitted
that he felt as if she were slipping away. She cheered him up by sharing a
dance with him.

At Crimson Lights, Kevin was puzzled when Jana started giving him the cold
shoulder. Jana replied that she was upset about Kay's car mysteriously
disappearing. Soon, a drenched Daniel and Amber came inside from where it
was pouring rain. Daniel helped Amber to a table while Kevin and Jana served
them some coffee. Amber became spooked when the power went out.
Desperate for something to do, Jana decided to give everyone Tarot card
readings. She pulled Kevin's card "the magician," and explained that it
meant he was playing with fire. Next, Jana pulled "the fool," for Daniel and
explained that it meant he was looking for a new experience, but perfection
was right in front of him. Daniel accused Jana of playing matchmaker with
him and Amber, but she denied it. Jana then pulled "the high priestess" for
Amber and stated that it meant Amber was keeping a secret. Later after the
storm let up and Daniel and Amber left, Jana urged Kevin to be a good person
and not always humor Gloria.

Billy stopped by the Chancellor estate to see Chloe. "Is that baby mine?" he
asked point-blank. Chloe denied it, but Billy suspected that she was lying.
He then flashed back to when he first met Chloe by a newsstand in New York
City. "Is that my kid?" he repeated, back in the present. Chloe asked if he'd step up like Cane did if he was the dad. He recalled how they'd had a great time
back in New York — and how Chloe had basically ended up stalking him. "You
went over the top," he accused and concluded that she was trying to "bag" a
Chancellor. Billy admitted that he didn't want her unborn child to be his.
Chloe again insisted that Cane's the pop. After Billy departed, Chloe
remembered how she intentionally planned to meet him that fateful day in the Big
Apple, then admitted to her baby that she fell in love "with your dad."

Meanwhile, Lily and Cane ran into each other at Jabot and ended up sharing
an elevator. Suddenly the power went out and the elevator stalled. They made
some small talk about Colleen being a model for Jabot. Lily wondered why he
picked someone who'd never modeled and just happened to be Lily's best
friend. The talk then turned to old movies and they chatted about one they
both enjoyed. Next, they discussed Chloe. Cane reported that Chloe
clearly loves her unborn child and the pregnancy is changing her. Lily
replied that she was happy for Cane moving on with Chloe, but Cane argued
that he hasn't moved on. Later, Billy went to Jabot and realized the
elevator wasn't working; he then heard Cane and Lily talking from inside.
Billy eavesdropped on Lily and Cane, who ended up sharing a smooch.
Meantime, the elevator was fixed. As they kissed, the door opened and Billy
spied them in action.

Wednesday

Nick and Phyllis got ready for work in the morning and were pleased that
they managed to "make up" after their fight from the previous night. They
anticipated getting the response to their first solo issue of Restless
Style. They then discussed ideas for their next issue, but Nick implored her
not to write anymore nasty notes about their friends and family.

Meanwhile, Jack and Sharon also enjoyed their morning together. Jack warned
Sharon about Phyllis's editor's note in Restless Style, but she explained
that Nick had already told her about it — which annoyed Jack.

At Crimson Lights, Victoria congratulated Nikki for her first issue of
Restless Style as Editor-in-Chief. They were interrupted when Vicky got a
call from Neil regarding Newman Enterprises business and a certain foreign
locale they were dealing with. After, Victoria told her mom that many of the
clients were worried about the company's future. Victoria noted that the
"light went out" in Victor after Sabrina died; Nikki agreed and wasn't sure
he'd ever get his life fully back. Soon, Brad arrived and tried to be
friendly, but Nikki blamed him for everything that happened with David Chow.
Brad noted that David had his own demons, including several dead wives. "You
know what, Nikki? Maybe if you hadn't been so desperate to prove to Victor
you were over him, that body count would've been a lot lower," Brad
remarked. Victoria had to hold Nikki back to keep her from slugging him.

Heather and Adam awakened together after having spent the night together.
Heather tried to stay positive and assured her beau that he'd get a job, but
Adam wasn't so sure. After, Heather used Adam's computer and was surprised
to see a photo of Tony Amato, a.k.a. Walter Palin on it. Heather asked Adam
what he knew about Victor's boating trip in Mexico. Heather and Adam shared
their suspicions about Victor killing Walter, but Heather said they needed
to get more evidence. She planned to go to the FBI and Mexican police to
investigate. Heather implored Adam to stop "playing detective" with Jack.
Later, Jack called Adam and again invited him to join him in bringing down
Victor by producing Victor's journal, but Adam refused. Jack noted that
they'd probably make a lot of money — which Adam could use given that he was
unemployed. Adam again turned him down.

Sharon and Brad ran into each other at the GCAC. Brad noted that he saw
Phyllis's note and vowed not to purchase Restless Style. Sharon made sure
that he knew that Phyllis, and not Nick, was the author. She admitted that
she missed working at the magazine, but was glad to be out of the "viper's
nest." They then talked about how Brad could go to prison for his dealings
with David Chow. Brad insisted that he has not association with David's mob
pals. He hoped that he'd be cleared once they found Walter Palin.... Heather
planned to talk to Brad about Walter and what he knew about Palin.

Adam paid Neil a visit at Newman and told Winters how he's been blacklisted
from various companies. He asked Neil to stop badmouthing him, but Neil
denied ever doing that. Adam then apologized for having fired Neil and asked
Winters to help him out. Neil replied that Adam's bad reputation was his own
fault. Victoria then arrived to discuss a client. She was annoyed to see
Adam there. Adam suggested they beef up the Newman name to make the clients
feel more secure. She was surprised when Neil supported Adam's idea. Adam
became angry when Neil stated that Victoria and Nick should be front and
center, and reminded them that he's a Newman. "As far as I'm concerned,
you're Adam Wilson, and you're not my father's son," snapped Victoria,
warning him not to set foot in the building again.

At the magazine, Nick shared a review of the new issue, which basically said
it wasn't terrible, but not as solid as the past issues. They then got a
call that the sales are steady. They were pleased with that. After, Nick got
a call from Victoria to come by Newman. Once he left, Nikki reamed out
Phyllis for writing the nasty editor's note and not running it by Nick
first. Nikki demanded that Phyllis respect her son. Phyllis replied that
whatever they did at home or on the job was none of Nikki's business. Later,
Jack and Phyllis ran into each other at the coffeehouse. Jack insisted that
Phyllis buy him a sandwich after having called him "Satan in a pinstripped
suit." He insisted that Phyllis not malign Sharon; Phyllis noted that Sharon
wasn't an innocent. Jack thought that Nick didn't know the "real" Phyllis
and warned her that she'd eventually shoot herself in the foot.... Sharon
returned home and wondered where Jack was. When he came home, he gave her a
gift: some old records. She admitted that she'd suspected he was out doing
something suspect.

Victoria and Neil asked Nick to return to Newman. He refused, but Victoria
explained how they needed his help with the company. Nick reminded them that
he has his magazine; they replied that he'd only have to work part-time and
could pick the projects he's interested in.

Adam asked Nikki if she could help him get a job. "Why on earth would I help
you?" she wondered. "Maybe because of what happened down in Mexico," Adam
said. This got Nikki's attention. "You are really something, you know that?"
she seethed. "You accost me for a favor, and then when you don't get what
you want, you threaten me. And you wonder why no one in my family wants to
have anything to do with you?" Adam retorted by accusing Nikki of hating him
because he was Hope's son. Nikki answered that she thought Hope was a fine
human being and would be disappointed in her son if she knew how he'd turned
out.... Heather showed Brad a photo of Walter of informed him that he was
dead. She noted that with both David and Palin gone, there was no one to
corroborate his story. Brad insisted that he had nothing to do with Walter;
Heather vowed to get the truth on the story. Later, Brad called his
attorney.

Nick informed Phyllis and Nikki that Neil and Victoria asked him to go back
to Newman. Phyllis was shocked when he replied that accepted their offer. He
insisted that it was just temporary but he'd still be in the loop at the
magazine.

Heather told Adam that the D.A. was making headway on the Palin case. She
noted his bad mood and concluded that things hadn't gone well at Newman.
Later, Adam called Jack and said he'd like to team up with him after all.

Thursday

Michael pored over files for River's case. Lauren entered and showed him an
article from a liberal magazine in which River went public and discussed his
story/imprisonment. Michael was understandably frustrated and surmised he'd
never be able to keep his father out of prison now. Lauren did her best to
console him.

Meanwhile, Gloria and Jeff faced off over the situation with River. She
decided to pay Michael a visit and pulled a guilt trip on Jeff for turning
in River. Jeff railed at Glo for getting close to her ex again and angrily
stormed out. Later, Glo arrived at Michael's and inquired about Eden and the
case. Michael rushed out in a huff to work damage control in the wake of the
article. Glo and Lauren stayed behind to read some files. Glo pondered what
a happy life her family would've had if River had not gone to the rally in
the first place.

Nikki and Kay had lunch at GCAC. Heather approached, saying she has
important information about Victor. Kay retreated the bar and Heather
presented Nikki with a photo of Walter Palin, wondering if Victor knew him.
Nikki played dumb even after Heather explained that Victor was on the man's
boat and that witnesses had confirmed they saw her in Mexico looking for
Victor. Nikki scoffed at Heather's theory that Victor killed Walter and
denied that she knew Victor's whereabouts. When Heather said she'd go to Vic
and Nick for more information, Nikki grabbed her arm, threatened her and
told her to go to hell.

Karen brought Victoria (who had baby Reed in tow) the new sales figures for
Newman; they weren't good. Vicki blamed it on the company's confusing name
change. She stepped out and handed Reed to Karen, who was really comfortable
and at ease with the baby in her arms. Vic wondered if Karen wanted to have
children and brought up her relationship with Neil. Karen confided that she
made a decision a long time ago to not have kids because she carries the
gene for ovarian cancer and fears that she wouldn't live to see her kids
grow up.

Michael paid his dad a visit in the slammer and confronted him about the
article, saying they'll use it against him in the trial. Lowell wondered why
Michael agreed to defend him in the first place and stuck to his guns that
he's innocent but surmised that Michael truly didn't believe him. Michael
took a call from a possible witness, Howard Sullivan, and departed to meet
him at GCAC.

Devon read a letter from Ana, who told him that she hates school and would
rather just do music. He felt bad that she misunderstood his earlier advice
and promised to fix the situation. Lily advised Devon to tell Ana that she
must work hard to make her dreams come true. Lily then told Neil she's
thinking about online dating. He was wary and reminded her that Mr. Right
will come along when she's least expecting it.

Nikki approached Michael at GCAC, begging him to tell her where Victor is,
but he refused to break client/attorney confidentiality. Michael sat down
with Howard (a former FBI informant), who claimed that River is innocent and
that he is so certain of the fact that he refused to testify against River.

Kay paid Neil a visit at Newman to inform him that she just got a call from
Ana's school offering her a rebate on Ana's tuition. Turns out, she's not
been attending classes. Then Devon called to explain that he'd phoned the
school and they wouldn't let him speak to Ana. Neil later learned that Ana
and Tyra are MIA.

Jeffrey visited River, called him a fraud and blasted him for interfering in
his happiness with Glo. After their tense encounter, River placed a
mysterious call, said things are getting out of control and requested help
in getting out of jail.... Lauren and Gloria presented Michael with a file
proving that Howard Sullivan refused to testify against River. Michael noted
that River might not spend the rest of his life in prison, after all.

Heather showed a confused Victoria a picture of Palin. She warned Victoria
to stop covering for her father and suggested she ask her mom about Mexico.
Meanwhile, Nikki tried to leave another urgent message for Victor, but his
number had been disconnected. Kay advised her to tell her children what kind
of danger Victor is in; Nikki refused.

Friday

At Crimson Lights, Noah said hello to Eden, who remembered him from the
party. He asked if she was going to Paris with the French club, but she
wasn't interested in joining the "geeks."

Michael was pleased when he found something from a witness named Howard
Sullivan that would help River's case. Lauren noted that Howard claimed that
they were supposed to set off a confetti bomb and River had tried to stop
the real bomb from being set off. Michael agreed that the information could
provide reasonable doubt. Meanwhile, River called Eden and asked her to help
him get out of jail that evening. After he hung up, he took a pill. Soon
after, Michael got a call that River was in the hospital.

At Newman Enterprises, Victoria announced to the press that Nick was
returning to the company. Nick explained that he'd be splitting his time
between Newman and Restless Style. At home, Adam watched the broadcast and
was furious. Heather assured him that he'd find a job soon. Adam then left
to go to a meeting.... Meanwhile, Sharon was also surprised when Jack
prepared to leave for a mystery meeting. Sharon reminded him that he'd
promised not to keep secrets, but Jack said that he was afraid of "jinxing"
his project if he spoke about it. Sharon then got a call from Nick, asking
her to come down to Newman.... Jack met up with Adam and showed him a list
of potential forgers of Victor's "diary." Jack narrowed it down to a
particular person because he lived nearby, in Madison... Nick asked Sharon
to work for Newman again and be the spokesperson for the Beauty Of Nature
line. She corrected him when he called her "Sharon Newman," reminding him
that she's now Sharon Abbott. She worried about what Jack would think if she
worked with Nick, but was intrigued by the offer. Later, Sharon told Jack
and Noah about her job offer. Jack wasn't pleased, but eventually told her
to accept the position. Noah then surprised his mom when she asked if she
and Nick were getting back together. Sharon replied that they weren't. Noah
feared that her working with Nick would cause problems for her and Jack.

Victoria informed Nikki that Heather had come to see her about Victor and
insinuated that he was responsible for Walter Palin's death. Vicky asked
Nikki what she knew about Victor's trip to Mexico, but Nikki wouldn't talk.
She finally agreed to tell Victoria and Nick the details at the same time.
Later, Nikki told them that the Mexican authorities are after Victor and
that she suspected Vic murdered Walter. Nikki shared that when she
confronted Victor about it, he denied it. Nick went to speak with Michael
about it.

At the GCAC, Michael informed an associate, Greg, of Sullivan's statement and
asked if River could get released on bail. Later, Nick confronted Michael
about the Victor situation and demanded to see his father. Michael refused,
but promised to tell Victor that Heather and the Mexican authorities were
hunting him down. Nick filled in Nikki and Victoria; Nikki vowed to help
Victor any way she could.

Adam met with the forger at the coffeehouse and promised to compensate him
"generously." Just as they shook on it, Heather entered and it turned out
the forger knew her because she'd prosecuted him in Chicago. The forger
reminded her that he was found innocent. "You were found not guilty," she
corrected. After, Adam pretended to not know that the guy was shady. Later,
Adam called up the forger and apologized for Heather showing up. Adam then
called Jack and told him that the man was going to help them out.

At the hospital, Eden pleaded with the security guard blocking River's room
to let her see her father. She then slipped River a bobby pin. Later,
Michael got news that River would be released from jail. Meanwhile, River
jumped out of his hospital window as the guard shot at him.
