Chance informed Victor that he was at the Newman house on official business. In front of Victor, Ashley and Nick, Chance told Sharon that Adam's body had been found. Victor consoled Sharon. Chance explained that the investigation was being treated as a homicide. He presented Victor with a search warrant for the ranch and the surrounding estate. Victor was cooperative as Chance and his men began their search. Nick and Sharon went outside to get some air; she opened up to him about her lack of feeling about her husband's death. They hoped that their worries over Faith were now over. Ashley privately accused Victor of killing Adam. When Abby returned home, they broke the news of Adam's demise. They blocked the teen's efforts to go upstairs since the police were searching. She left to go to Sterling's.

Phyllis freaked out over the blood on Nick's jacket. She stalled when the dry cleaner showed up, then asked him to rush her order. Phyllis called Nick, who told her that Adam's body had been identified. He warned her that the cops were likely to search her home as well. He said he'd be home soon, cutting off her attempts to talk to him about the jacket.... One of Chance's men found something suspicious. "I'll alert the D.A.," said Chance after glancing at the evidence.... Sharon went to pick up Grace and Victor told Nick that if the cops found anything incriminating, he would protect Nick. Sharon went to Phyllis's and Phyllis filled her in about the bloody jacket. The women agreed that they needed to protect Nick. Back at the main house, Nick and Victor discussed how they had both played a role in what had happened. Victor told Nick that he had a wife and children to think about and that Nick should let him handle things.... Sharon and Phyllis were going to get rid of the jacket but the cops showed up before they had the chance. Sharon hurriedly left with the baby while Phyllis told Chance to ask her anything he needed to. Nick returned home and Chance asked for the clothes and the shoes that they had both worn to the ball. Phyllis gave them the claim check for their dry cleaning. "Don't worry," said Phylllis after the cops left. "They're not going to find your jacket." Sharon had taken the jacket out of the house when she left with the baby. She tossed it into a dumpster.

Jack was stunned when Patty announced her pregnancy. She accused him of not being happy and assured him that he was going to be a great dad. Jack brought her some milk and rubbed her feet. Ashley came in with the news about Adam. "I guarantee you, all of us are on the suspect list," grumbled Jack. D.A. Pomerantz strolled in with some cops and asked to speak to Jack privately. Jack said he could speak freely in front of his wife and sister. Pomerantz showed Jack the monogrammed tie, which belonged to Jack, that had been found in Adam's throat. Ashley pointed out that Jack wouldn't have been stupid enough to leave his tie in the mouth of a dead man. Pomerantz left after warning Jack not to leave town. Pomerantz then went to see Victor, showing him the bloody, pricey watch that had been found in the trash. Victor said that the watch was his and that he'd broken it at the ball. "The blood is Adam's," he said. Meanwhile, Patty told Jack that she wouldn't let anyone hurt the father of her child.

Lauren called out for Jana but Ryder showed up instead with some supplies. She begged him not to leave, appealing to his compassionate side, but he hedged that he shouldn't be talking to her. Lauren demanded to know if he worked for Sheila. He stonewalled her. She stressed that he had the autonomy not to do what he was doing. "What could you possibly gain by doing this?" she asked. She told Ryder that he had been brainwashed and needed to open his eyes. Daisy arrived and barked at Ryder that having fed the animal, it was time to go. Ryder left a bottle of water for Lauren. Ryder then encountered Abby, who was surprised to see him. Ryder dumped out the bottle of alcohol Abby had with her. She vented to him about her screwed-up family; he said his was worse. He suggested that they meet up in the same place again and swore her to secrecy about having seen him there. Back in her cage, Lauren heard someone approaching and challenged the person, who she assumed was Sheila, to show their face. Finally, her captor showed her face. It was someone who had Lauren's face! Daisy listened unhappily as Abby and Ryder bonded. Abby left and Daisy lashed out at Ryder, who claimed that he had had no chance but to cover with Abby.
