Y&R Week of August 27, 2007 Recaps
Monday
After Phyllis's trial, she thanked Noah for speaking on her behalf. Phyllis
was also surprised that Sharon gave a statement in her favor. Neil
approached Phyllis and told her that her heartfelt testimony meant nothing
to him. "It's not going to bring my wife back," he reminded her. Later,
Daniel and Nick joined her at home as she sat with Summer. They urged her
not to feel guilty about Drucilla's death, despite what Neil said to her.
Michael and Lauren joined them; the group acted as if it were a party,
despite the fact that Phyllis's future was hanging in the balance. She got
serious, though, as she stated that without her around, Nick would still
make a great father for Summer. She then told Daniel that she wants him to
take money from her account.
In the courthouse hallway, Jack praised Sharon for sticking up for Phyllis,
calling his wife the kindest person he knows. Sharon hoped she did the right
thing. After, they dined at the GCAC with Noah. When Noah asked why Sharon
did what she did, she explained that she didn't want Daniel and Summer to be
without their mother.
At Newman, Victoria told J.T. that she thought she was hallucinating when
Sharon took the stand.... Nikki and Brad were also confused by Sharon's
testimony.
Lily and Devon were appalled that Sharon would betray Drucilla by defending
Phyllis. Devon wondered if perhaps they should forgive Phyllis, but Lily
wouldn't hear of it. After, Nikki talked with Neil about the case. Nikki
imagined that it was tough for Neil watching Lily testify. He replied that
Dru's death has reminded him how important his family is to him.
At Newman, Nikki invited Victoria and J.T. to dinner. Vicky was surprised
that her mom was suddenly interested in her and J.T.'s relationship, but
Nikki explained that she wanted to put her bad day behind them. They then
encountered Sharon. "Where's your 'I Heart Phyllis' T-shirt?" snarked Nikki.
"They didn't have my size," Sharon shot back. "So I had to settle for a
'Just Say No To Nikki' T-shirt." Ooh, burn!... Nikki was thrilled when
Victoria revealed that she's having a boy.... Sharon ran into Brad, who
disagreed with her actions in court, but wasn't angry with her. She then
went to see Neil so she could explain why she helped out Phyllis. However,
Neil didn't buy her "Phyllis is a mother" explanation, reminding her how
much his family has suffered since Dru's disappearance. "I want to see
Phyllis suffer," he stated, "because she's still alive and my wife is gone."
Adrian visited Jana in the psych ward. Jana reported that Colleen sometimes
visits her because Coll is concerned about Kevin. Meanwhile, Colleen
supported Kevin as he continued to search for someone who could save Jana.
Later, Adrian and Colleen invited Kevin to dinner, suggesting he take a
break from Jana. However, he left when he received a call from a doctor,
saying he could operate on Jana right away. After, Lily and Devon joined
them. They didn't understand why Colleen and Adrian were supporting Jana;
they explained that despite what Jana did to Colleen and Kevin, they
couldn't let someone die. After their guests left, Adrian invited Colleen to
move in with him.... The doctor met up with Kevin and Jana at the psych
ward. He warned them that the surgery itself was risky. Jana admitted that
she was scared, but wanted to go through with the operation. Kevin told her
that he forgave her for what she did to him and gave her a framed picture of
them. She suddenly fell back on the bed and began having a seizure.
Jack and Daniel tried to be optimistic about the outcome of Phyllis's
future. Meanwhile, Phyllis filmed herself reading bedtime stories for
Summer, in case she wouldn't get to read her another one anytime soon. When
Nick entered the living room, she broke down. He took her in his arms and
kissed her, and they fell to the couch.
Tuesday
Michael and Lauren picked up breakfast at the coffeehouse. He was nervous
about Phyllis's sentencing hearing, but Lauren tried to remain
optimistic.... Sharon didn't want Noah to have to return to court, but Noah
insisted on joining her and Jack.
Nicholas continued to lavish affection on a worried Phyllis. He urged her to
forget about her troubles and kissed her. After, Lauren and Michael joined
them. Phyllis joked about feeling like she's in a "chick-flick prison"
movie. Michael attempted to keep her spirits up.
At the hospital, Jana tried to mentally prepare herself for her surgery.
Colleen and Kevin were on hand to offer their support. Jana told Kevin that
no matter what happens, she'll be alright. Soon, Gloria stopped by. She
reminded Kevin that Jana might have been perfectly healthy when she tried to
kill him and Colleen. Jana thanked Glo for paying for her surgery. Gloria
made it clear that the only reason she agreed to do so was because Kevin
wanted her to. The doctor then came in so he could administer a sedative,
and Jana began to freak out. Kevin asked if he could go in with her, but the
doctor refused. After some pleading, the doc finally relented and let Kevin
be there. The surgery then began. Kevin reminded the doctors they were
operating on a person and not a brain.
At the hearing, the judge sentenced Phyllis to the maximum six years.
"That's not fair!" Noah cried out. Michael argued that Phyllis committed a
nonviolent offense, but the judge was set on his decision. He told her she
had until the next day to surrender herself to the police. Noah was
disappointed with Michael for losing. Sharon worried about her son. Brad
suggested she tell him that sometimes good people do bad things. Sharon
wondered if any of this would've happened had she and Brad not slept
together.... Nick asked Phyllis what he could do to help her. "Just be
strong," she replied.... Jack promised Noah that he'd get to visit Phyllis.
Noah then went up to Brad and told him that he read about the case online
and knows what Brad did. "You were married to Dad," he yelled at
Sharon, "and you were married to Aunt Victoria," he said to Brad. "You're
guilty and he's guilty and Phyllis is the only one going to jail.".... Nikki
told Phyllis that she intends to take care of Summer. "You will not touch
her!" Phyllis screamed. She later told Michael that she doesn't blame him.
He was determined to continue fighting for her release. Phyllis feared that
Nikki would turn Summer against her, but Nick promised he wouldn't let that
happen.... At the GCAC, Noah told Jack and Sharon that he wants to live with
Nick.... Nick met up with Nikki at the coffeehouse and demanded that she
treat Phyllis with respect. Nikki argued that Nick doesn't love her. He
replied that he does, but even if he didn't, Phyllis is still the mother of
his child. He warned Nikki that if she says anything negative to Summer
about Phyllis, she won't see her granddaughter.... Daniel tried to keep
Phyllis's hopes up about being freed, but she was more realistic. "It's
over," she told him. "It's done. Accept it." Just then, Summer said, "Mama."
Phyllis broke down in tears.
At Crimson Lights, Maggie encouraged Paul to speak with his daughter,
Heather. Maggie insisted he tell Heather he's her father. He congratulated
Maggie for winning the case.... Colleen was surprised when Brad arrived at
the hospital but was less than happy to see him. He
explained that Abby wanted to see her and was taken aback when Colleen
revealed that both he and Gloria had similar reservations about them helping
Jana. "Gloria and I have something in common?" he marveled. "Worlds have
collided over less." Glo and Brad insisted on staying with them. Michael
soon joined the group. Kevin emerged from the operating room and reported
that things were going well. He then returned in time for the portion of the
surgery for which Jana would remain awake. Understandably, Jana was
scared out of her mind. The surgeon had Kevin show Jana pictures of objects
to identify, which proves her brain is still functioning. It was
going well until she called a high-heeled shoe a "bloody dog" and started
slurring her words.
Wednesday
At the hospital, an incoherent Jana continued to ramble about a "bloody dog"
as the surgeons operated on her brain. Kevin tried to calm her down. In the
waiting room, Gloria, Colleen and Michael wondered how Kevin was holding up.
The doctors managed to remove the tumor but wouldn't answer Kevin's
questions about whether there was damage.
At the coffeehouse, Ji Min was surprised to see Amber manning the counter
for Kevin. So was Heather, who offered Amber a legal deal: testify against
Kevin and Daniel and she'd help out Amber. After, Amber arrived at the
hospital and filled Michael in — on her encounter with Heather. A
furious Baldwin instructed Amber not to speak with the opposing counsel
about her case again. Michael confronted Heather, but she noted that him
representing Kevin could be a conflict of interest. Gloria suggested Amber
start praying — given what happened to Phyllis. Amber was surprised
when Colleen informed her that Daniel and Kevin have help in paying back
their money to the government.... Jana came out of her surgery and was able
to speak coherently. A thrilled Kevin kissed her and shared the good news
with everyone.... Amber pleaded with Gloria to give her the money she needs,
but Glo refused. "You won't drag my son into any more of your little
schemes," Gloria sneered, warning Amber to stay away from Kevin. A frantic
Amber asked Michael how she's supposed to get her share of the money. He
replied that he'd look into getting a payment schedule worked out for her.
Colleen didn't quite believe that Amber was incapable of getting the cash,
but Amber insisted she was desperate. Later, she recalled seeing Jim Min
skulking around the Chancellor manse.... Gloria asked the doctor if Jana's
tumor could've caused her criminal behavior, but he explained that there was
no way of really knowing for sure.
During a press interview at the GCAC, Jack tried to discuss the political
issues he was working on, but the reporter was more interested in hearing
what Abbott had to say about Phyllis's sentence. Jack attempted to give
neutral answers but did admit that he thinks her getting six years in jail
is excessive. After his interview, Jill sarcastically congratulated him for
knowing how to manipulate reporters. She called him out on secretly owning
Jabot, then told him that she and Ji Min broke up. She wondered if Jack
enjoyed deceiving her, but he insisted that he didn't intend to hurt her. "I
hate Ji Min and I hate you for bringing him into my life," she shouted....
Cane warned Ji Min that if he goes near Jill, Cane will "break his legs."
After, Jill confided in Cane about how upset she was feeling. Cane was
confident that Jack wouldn't get away with his lies.... Jack had another
interview where the reporter did nothing but question him about Phyllis. He
refused to comment when she asked him how Sharon feels about him supporting
his ex-wife.... Katherine watched, unseen, as Ji Min gave Jill an expensive
travel guide. Jill told him that he can't buy her forgiveness. Later, Jill
cried to Kay about Ji Min. Kay was sympathetic, which made Jill angry. "You
wanted me to be unhappy," she seethed. "Well, congratulations, Mom, I'm
unhappy.".... Cane reamed out Jack for "screwing over" Jill. Jack informed
him that Jill and Kay aren't exactly innocent players when it comes to their
business histories.
Nicholas, Daniel and Phyllis planned to spend her last day of freedom
together. Phyllis invited Noah to join them and suggested they play
basketball. Then, they went to the GCAC. Phyllis was actually enjoying
herself until Noah noted that while she's in jail, he'll have to babysit.
Phyllis thanked Daniel for keeping up a happy front and made him promise
he'd watch out for Noah. She regretted knowing that she was going to miss
seeing her stepson grow up.... Noah wondered if Daniel was also going to
jail, but Nick wasn't sure. Noah then asked if Phyllis's parents were
criminals. Ha! Nick assured him that they weren't and that Summer wouldn't
grow up to be one either. Later, Nick and Phyllis enjoyed their last moments
together. He reminded her that the six years will seem like a "blip" when
they're 90 years old.
At the coffeehouse, Amber ran into Ji Min again. When she made up a story
that she needed a hundred dollar bill as a gift for a friend, Ji Min readily
had one available for her. Jack then arrived and taunted Ji Min about his
and Jill's split. Later, Jill asked Ji Min to meet her at the GCAC. There,
she told him that if he really wants her back, he'll go public with his role
in the Jabot scheme. He agreed to do it, even though his statement could
possibly get him jail time.
Thursday
Things got weird at Phyllis's house when Noah insisted on playing a video
game by himself instead of joining Phyllis, Nick and Daniel in some fun.
Daniel took off and called Amber to meet up at the coffeehouse. Nick asked
Noah to be nice to Phyllis. Victor arrived, and Noah took off to the
stables. Vic brought Phyllis books to read while she's in jail and said his
good-byes. She went upstairs to take care of a crying Summer. Victor left
and said he'd stop by the stables to check on Noah. Just as Phyllis and Nick
started to cuddle on the couch, Jack knocked on the door. Phyllis was
thrilled to see him. The senator informed her that he called the warden so
he knows Phyllis is cared about. "I'll miss you," Jack broke down. "I'm
going to miss fighting with you," she replied. Noah interrupted and asked
Jack if he can go home with him. Phyllis said it's okay if he doesn't want
to stay with her. He ran off to get his stuff. "Next time I see him, he'll
have a beard and be 6-feet tall," she noted to the men. Noah started to walk
out without giving Phyllis a hug, but she wouldn't let him. "I love you
very, very, very much," she cried. "I know you think you hate me, but you
don't ... I know that you love me, just like I love you." Noah left, then
ran back in to give her a hug. Once their guests were gone, Phyllis gave
Nick the rundown of where things were and what to do while she was gone. He
told her he doesn't want her to leave. She realized how much she is going to
miss while she's locked up. She showed Nick how to access her journal on her
laptop so he can read it to Summer when she's older. He read out loud what
she wrote about the day they brought their baby home. Phyllis checked off
her to-do list to make sure she got everything done before heading to jail.
"You forgot me," said Nick. They made love.
At Crimson Lights, Daniel filled Amber in on how weird it was to be at his
mother's place on her last night. Daniel thanked Sharon for what she said
during his mom's trial. "I did it for you," she said. Sharon told him to let
her know if he ever needs anything, and he said he will still be there for
Noah. The DA asked Amber if she thought any more about the deal she offered
her. Heather and Daniel exchanged harsh words. After the DA walked away,
Amber told Daniel to check out the $100 bill that Ji Min gave her. He
informed Daniel that Ji Min was at the Chancellor mansion when she reburied
the stash of money. They tried to get info about the bill's serial number
via the Internet, but didn't find anything.
Katherine told Jill she has been interviewing people to replace her, unless
Jill changes her mind about going into business with Ji Min. Jill informed
her mom that she asked Ji Min to tell the public about Jack's previous
ownership of Jabot, and that Katherine purchased it from him. Katherine
accused Jill of doing this just to get back at her. Ji Min explained to Kat
that he wants to come clean because he loves Jill. In private, Ji Min told
Jill he wishes she hadn't told Katherine about their plan.... Katherine
visited Victor in his office to give him the heads up about Ji Min's
announcement.
Sharon was surprised to see Noah with Jack. Noah went upstairs, and Jack
filled Sharon in on what happened at Phyllis's place. Victor called to speak
with Jack. "What, is the sky falling?" Jack said when he took the phone from
Sharon. Jack met up with Victor in his office. Abbott told Vic he wasn't
worried about Ji Min's pending announcement. However, Jack interrupted Jill
and Ji Min's evening to yell at them. Ji Min made the senator leave.
Sharon heard Noah's puppy whining and found him locked in the closet. She
asked Noah why he put the dog in there and he explained that the pup was
bad, so he locked him up in "jail." Sharon talked to him about Phyllis's
situation, and told him it is okay to cry. Jack returned home, where Sharon
expressed her concerns about what Noah is going through.
Friday
Nicholas and Phyllis &mdash both scantily dressed — greeted each other
in their living room. "The baby's asleep," she said quietly. "What do you
want to do with my last hours of freedom?" Nick responded by kissing her.
At Crimson Lights, Amber told Daniel that she believes Ji Min has the money.
Daniel wasn't convinced until she showed him the $100 bill Ji Min gave her.
Daniel left to see his mom off. After, Carson joined her and asked where she
got the hundred dollars. She quickly came up with an excuse. They then began
flirting, and she bought him breakfast. Before he left, he "accidentally"
knocked over her drink; when she turned, he pocketed the bill.
At the GCAC, Katherine told Nikki about Jill and Ji Min's plan to expose the
Jabot scheme. Nikki feared that it could ruin Jack, and — in turn
— the Clear Springs project. She was shocked when Kay revealed that
she cut Jill out of her will in an attempt to get Ji Min out of her life.
They agreed that they needed to stop Kim from speaking, but weren't sure
how. After, at Newman, Nikki shared an awkward run-in with Victor (who was
with Zapato! Hi, Zapato!). She then complained to David about Ji Min. She
found it ironic that she was now in a position where she had to actually
care about what happened to Jack.... Amber called Kay. Kay tried to get rid
of her but was intrigued when Amber insisted Ji Min stole the money. Kay
refused to help her win back Cane, but Amber said she was just trying to
help. Kay told her never to call again and hung up. Amber then looked
through her purse and realized that the bill had been taken.... Nikki filled
Jack in on Ji Min's plans. She suggested that Jack go public about Jabot
first, but he refused.
Daniel arrived at Nick and Phyllis's and was embarrassed to catch his
stepfather wearing nothing but his boxers. Phyllis then came downstairs, and
Daniel gave her a CD he'd made. She joked about not being able to wear very
high heels in jail. "So that means my favorite S&M outfit is still
upstairs?" sighed Nick, to Daniel's horror. They stopped joking when Nick
noted that Summer seemed to be running a fever. Phyllis didn't want to go to
jail with Summer being ill, but Michael arrived and told her she doesn’t
have a choice. Later, Lauren came over. Daniel planned to drive Phyllis, so
Nick could take Summer to the pediatrician. Phyllis still refused to leave,
noting that Lauren didn't bring Fen with her because she thought Summer's
condition was serious enough that she didn't want her son to get it. Soon,
Nick brought Logan by so she could examine the baby. She said that Summer
would be fine. Lauren offered to stay the night, but Phyllis still didn't
want to leave her daughter. She stubbornly locked herself in the bathroom.
Kay recalled arguing with Jill over Ji Min. Jill then arrived and they
fought some more over him. Meanwhile, at the GCAC, David introduced himself
to Ji Min and tried to find out why Kim was so eager to blow the whistle on
Jack. David reminded him that by going public, Ji Min would hurt many other
people besides Jack, but Ji Min didn't care. David then offered to work
something out with him, but Ji Min wasn't eager to make a deal with someone
he'd just met. Kay later approached Ji Min and asked him not to say
anything. Kim insisted that he was doing the right thing. Kay warned him
that he's antagonizing many people, but Ji Min wasn't moved.... Amber
confronted Carson about taking her hundred dollars. He asked her for the
rest of the money, but she insisted that she didn't know where it is. After,
Amber was pleased when Kay asked her to help find the cash.... Jack and
Victor met up at Newman. Victor informed him that he got a call from someone
reporting that Ji Min wants to "bury" Jack. Jack reminded Victor that Victor
was involved, too, since he was the one who forced Ji Min to get Jack's
confession tape.... Nikki was upset when David told her that he didn't get
anywhere with Ji Min. He cheered her up by giving her a key to his suite....
Amber and Carson decided to team up so they could find the rest of the
money.... Nikki and Victor fought over him wanting Jack to fail, even if it
meant taking down Nikki in the process.... Kay offered to put Jill back into
her will if Jill got Ji Min to not go through with his plan. Jill went to
see him and suggested that maybe he not do the interview after all. He was
confused by her sudden change of heart, but she was touched that he is
willing to go to bat for her. She thanked him with a kiss.
