Monday

Murphy and Kay shopped for a Christmas tree. While decorating the tree, Kay remembered a tree in a "big lovely home." When Kay suggested they make a toast, Murphy wondered if she had been a "queen or a duchess in another life." Kay thought the word "duchess" sounded familiar. Murphy commented that Marge (really Kay) was "a totally different person." They served cookies to the carolers and then kissed under the mistletoe.

Lily told Billy she had made plans to meet "Sonny," and asked him if he thought "getting together with Sonny was a good idea." Online dating is the wave of the future, Billy assured her. Lily and Billy talked about the V8 "Feeding America" display and both made a donation. Lily apologized to Billy for always talking about Sonny. Billy thought it was great that Lily could confide in him. Lily shared that she was a little nervous about meeting Sonny, and wondered if perhaps Sonny was too good to be true. Billy thought
if she was truly apprehensive she should cancel. Lily thought about it and decided to meet Sonny anyway.

Nikki visited Victor in his cell with papers requiring Victor’s signature. She showed him photos of Summer's recent
birthday party; he was sorry he had missed it. Nikki brought him up to date on Adam's arrest. Their conversation grew tense when Nikki hinted about "what happened in Mexico." Victor snapped that she knew nothing about what happened... "And you will never know. Do I make myself clear," he snarled. Their argument intensified when Nikki denied she was judging Victor and made
it clear that she, Paul, Nicholas and Victoria were working their hardest to get Victor out of jail. Nikki announced that she would no longer let Victor make her crazy and left. After Nikki said Merry Christmas, Victor reminded her Sabrina's baby had been due at Christmas. "You cannot wash their blood off your hands. Now get out," he snapped.

The bartender from Mexico and his little daughter paid Victor a visit. In Spanish, her father promised to keep Victor's secret.

Heather introduced her two new witnesses, freshly arrived from Mexico, to the judge. They would prove that Adam was guilty and connected to the forgery of Victor's diary. Adam, also in the courtroom, pled not guilty. Rafael told his client Adam that they had to rethink his defense. Adam continued to claim his innocence and offered "information about Jack Abbott and his involvement with this diary."

Heather met with Adam. Adam didn't know how Heather could put him behind bars if she loved him. "How could you love me and do this to me?” he asked. "I did this because I have a conscience," was his ex-fiancé's reply. Adam vowed not to forget this. Heather wept in front of Paul, who told his daughter how proud he was of her. At home, Heather found a gift she had wrapped for Adam and sobbed on her bed.

Nikki caught up with Paul at the coffee house. She sensed that something was bothering him. "I haven't known you for 30 years for nothing," she said. Paul told Nikki about the arraignment. Paul wished Heather had learned about Adam before she had gotten romantically involved with him. "Victor's son — what a bad apple he turned out to be," Nikki observed. Paul pointed out that the fact that Victor still gets to her says a lot about Nikki's feelings toward her ex-husband. Paul told Nikki that he didn't find enough evidence to connect Victor to Walter Palin's murder. Nikki thought it was time for them both to "let it go." Paul asked Nikki for the 411 on their relationship. "Is it developing into something else?" he asked. "I am right where I wanna be," Nikki smiled.

Jill was upset about Katherine's memoirs being out. After ending a phone conversation with a reporter about the book, Jill sat down and opened the Christmas gift Kay had sent before she "died." Soon, Cane and Esther joined her. Jill was horrified when she learned that Esther put a particular Christmas decoration out on the Chancellor Estate's front lawn. Later, Jill and Esther agreed that they couldn't wait for Cane and Chloe's baby daughter to arrive. Cane also looked forward to being a dad. After, they opened their gifts from Kay. Jill received sexy lingerie so she could find a man. Esther received a blue maid's uniform, with a note from Kay explaining that black did nothing for Esther's skin tone. Both chuckled over Kay's sense of humor.

Daniel took care of Amber, who was suffering from a cold. She was upset that she wasn't going to be at the bookstore to see Kay's memoirs on sale. Amber began to cry as she realized that she and Kay wouldn't be celebrating this together. Later, Jana and Kevin joined them. Jana congratulated Amber on the book, but Amber reminded her that it was Mrs. Chancellor's book. Jana and Kevin left as Amber shot Kevin a pointed look. Amber still believed that Kevin was somehow behind Kay's "death." Later, Amber fell asleep after taking cold meds and dreamed that Kevin was on trial for killing Kay. Jana was questioning him and Daniel was the judge. They believed that Kevin was innocent, but Amber kept saying that he was guilty. Kay's "spirit" then appeared and announced that Kevin killed her by spiking her drink. Amber vowed to get Kevin to confess so she could avenge Kay's death.

At the bookstore, Lily stood by the life-sized cut-out of Kay and called Billy. Billy reminded her that she was supposed to be meeting her mysterious text messaging guy friend. Lily replied that he hadn't shown up yet. After, Lily sent "Sonny" a message. She then called Billy back and complained that if Sonny didn't show up, she'd have to kill him. Later, Billy joined Lily at the bookstore and revealed that he's "Sonny." Lily couldn't understand why he'd keep this secret from her. He agreed that he's a coward, but insisted
that his feelings for her were genuine. Lily was still angry with him for deceiving her. However, she admitted that she really wanted "Sonny" to be Billy, and they kissed.

At Murphy's, he and "Marge" discussed their holiday plans. Murphy then gave her her gift: a foot bath. Kay informed him that she had a surprise for him, as well. Later at the diner, Pearl was happy when Kay told her that she'd sold her ring. Kay then opened her gift from Joe ... which was also a foot bath. "Great minds," joked an unfazed Murphy. On the way home, Kay slipped and fell on the ice in front on Murphy's trailer.

At the jail, Rafe informed Adam that even though the charges against Adam were serious, he might be able to catch a break as a first-time offender. Adam didn't think he'd be able to fight Victor. After, Victor joined Adam, then sat across the table from him and stared down his son. Adam told his father that he "won" and should just do whatever he planned to do to him. Victor replied that it was Christmas Eve and he wasn't looking to fight. Adam suspected that Jack was gloating. Victor told him not to worry about Abbott. Adam offered to help him bring down Jack if Victor could get him out of jail. He then reminded Victor that Vic loved Hope and asked his dad to help him out for her sake. "Don't cross your father, you got that?" Victor snapped. "Don't you ever cross me again." Newman noted that Adam should get used to being a jail, and if Adam's really his son, he should find the inner strength it takes to survive. Victor then reamed out Adam for conspiring against him with Jack and said that Adam has to live with the consequences. "Now you snivel? What type of man are you? Are you my son? Who the hell are you?" he yelled. Adam continued to well, snivel. "If you're my son, if you're Hope's son, you will not let this destroy you," Victor said. "You got that?"

Wednesday

Victor went home just in time for Christmas and was greeted by Ashley. They kissed and hit the sheets. After, he asked Ash to move in with him; she replied that her stuff was already upstairs. Victor couldn't quite believe that he'd found a way to be happy again. Ashley questioned him about what had happened to Walter. Victor explained that he and Walter had hired him to take him fishing and they'd taken a boat out into a raging storm. On the
water, Victor had revealed who he really was — and that Walter was responsible for killing his wife and unborn child. Ash stopped Victor and told him he didn't need to continue. Still, Victor had a flashback of beating up Walter and then leaving him behind on the sinking boat in the storm.

Meanwhile, Gloria wasn't so lucky, and was still in jail. Kevin and Michael kept her company. Michael asked her if she really thought her secret about the tainted cream wouldn't come out. Kevin urged Michael to remember what day it was. "Merry freakin' Christmas," Michael growled. Bah humbug, indeed! Michael regretted believing River was innocent and encouraging Gloria to testify on his behalf. "Why is it that every man you were involved with were
all criminals?" he asked. Gloria argued that William and John were good men. Michael pointed out that even John killed Tom and William hid evidence (the cream) from the authorities. Gloria vowed to get out of prison and then prove that she's an upstanding citizen. Michael wasn't so sure she'd succeed in either respect.

At the Winters home, Lily, Devon, Tyra, Lily and Neil got ready for the holidays. They were thrilled when Olivia joined them. Soon, Ana arrived and Tyra happily greeted her. The gang then told Ana that as the youngest, she can open the first gift. She loved what Neil and Karen gave her.

Billy stopped by the Chancellor Estate to wish Jill a happy holiday. He hoped Jill would put aside their differences so they could celebrate together. Esther was happy to see him, but Cane wasn't pleased to have his brother there. Jill urged Cane to let things go for that evening. Esther was proud of Jill when she learned that Jill had arranged for homeless children to get gifts. Later, Chloe opened her gift from Cane — a reindeer statuette. Jill and Esther then realized that neither had prepared dinner. Cane went out to get some food. Jill asked Esther to put on some coffee. "You want it,
you make it," Esther replied, reminding Jill that they're now equals in the house.... Cane ran into Lily at the coffeehouse while he was out getting dinner for his family. The exes shared a cordial but awkward moment as they wished each other a happy holiday.... Jill sadly eyed a photo of her and Kay. Esther then called her over to view the snow that was falling outside. Jill smiled as she watched it blanket the lawn.

At Crimson Lights, Jana and Kevin participated in another V8 commercial as they continued to run their food drive and promote the beverage. After, Jana asked Kevin how Gloria was doing. Kevin replied that she was hanging in there, but he was concerned about Michael. Kevin forgave Jana for giving the money to River; she was upset for trusting that River was a good guy.... At the coffeehouse, Lauren tried to cheer up an upset Eden, but she wasn't
really in the holiday spirit. Michael then joined them and warned Eden that in their family, she should expect to be disappointed with her loved ones. Lauren was annoyed with him for painting such a bleak picture, but Michael wanted to be honest with his younger sister.... Jeffrey visited Gloria in prison and teased her by presenting her with jewelry that she couldn't wear. He explained that he wanted to divorce her so he could protect her and prevent the Abbotts from getting her money.... Michael went to a bar and
reflected about his family. "Nature or nurture?" he asked aloud. "I used to believe we made ourselves who we are, but now I'm thinking it's not up to us. Whatever you're born with, that's it. Miserable parents make a miserable kid. Miserable kid makes his own family miserable and so on and so on and so on. Makes a guy wonder... maybe it would've been better for everyone if he'd never been born." Uh-Oh...

Murphy panicked when he found "Marge" unconscious outside of his home after she slipped on the ice. Soon, Kay awakened and was upset at the idea of seeing a doctor, but let him examine her. He reported that her vitals seem to be fine, but she did have a lump from the fall. He was concerned about her memory loss and balance problem and urged her to see a specialist. Murphy promised to give her a nice quiet holiday at home. As she relaxed,
Kay recalled everyone calling her "Katherine" and not Marge. "My name is Katherine Chancellor," she suddenly announced to Murphy.

With a special thanks to Frank Capra's beloved Christmas movie It's A Wonderful Life Y&R devoted the Dec. 26 episode to Michael and what life in Genoa City would have been had he never been born.

The moment Michael wondered if the world would have been better if he had never been born, things began to turn very strange. Phyllis, who he had been sitting next to at the bar, suddenly had no idea how she knew Michael and grew agitated when he mentioned "Daniel." "I don't know who you are or where you came from, but I don't know anything about Daniel. Danny's dead, everyone knows that," she said angrily. She stormed off and Michael, also upset, rushed off into the snow. He ran into Paul, cool and calm. "Where did you come from?" Michael asked. Paul tried to explain that Phyllis didn't have a clue as to who Michael was. "This isn't a plot against you. Actually it's a gift," Paul said. Michael listed off all the reasons he was having a horrible Christmas. "You don't have a mother or a father anymore," Paul said. "You were wondering what it would be like if you had never been born. Now you know. You don't exist," Paul told a surprised Michael. Paul proved his point when Michael couldn't find his car keys. "You don't have any because you don't exist," Paul explained, adding that Phyllis had lost custody of Daniel and Danny never got Michael's kidney, so Danny died. "Phyllis' whole life fell apart because you never..." Paul tried to say. "Shut up," Michael barked and demanded to be taken to Crimson Lights. Crimson Lights didn't exist because Michael hadn't been there to make it happen. It was now a dingy bar. Michael asked Jana about Kevin and realized that she couldn't see Paul. She accused Michael of lying when he said Kevin had a brother. "Kevin's behind bars," she said angrily. Michael stormed out. "This is reality," Paul tried to explain. "I need to go to him. Take me to the prison," Michael asked. Paul magically whisked Michael to the prison where he saw Victor Newman still behind bars. Michael introduced himself to Victor. Victor was in jail for the murder of Ji-min. Paul explained that Michael hadn't been there to save Victor from being convicted. Victor began to strangle Michael as he accused him of being a tabloid writer. Paul whisked Michael to Fenmores where he saw Lauren and Ashley shopping. Michael watched Lauren kick the children out of the store. Michael noticed that Lauren was hard and cruel. Lauren asked Michael if he needed any help, clearly not recognizing him as her husband. Michael tried to make small talk but she kicked him out of the store.

Michael asked about Gloria and Kevin. He was stunned to see Gloria working as a cleaning woman in Jack's office. "This is the world without Michael Baldwin," Paul reminded him. Gloria had done time for tampering with the face cream. Michael made small talk with Gloria, who didn't recognize him. He offered to help her with the wine stain in the carpet. Michael asked her about her family. "I have a son but we don't see each other much," she admitted. Michael pressed for details but she didn't want to talk about it. Paul took Michael to Kevin. "Take care of yourself," he said to Gloria as he left the office. Finally Michael began to believe that this was the world without him. "I need to see my brother. I need to see that he's okay," he begged. Michael looked into a cell and saw Kevin curled up in an isolation unit. He began talking to Kevin. "Are you the new doctor," Kevin asked. Kevin explained how he wound up in a locked ward. Kevin told Michael the story about his "relationship" with Lauren. "You tried to kill yourself," Michael observed. Michael was devastated to hear the heartbreak of his kid brother's life. "My own mother doesn't even look out for me," Kevin said. Michael tried to explain that he would do anything to help Kevin. Kevin begged Michael to help "me end it. I just want it to be over." Michael refused. Michael did his best to cheer up Kevin, but it didn't work. Michael's eyes filled with tears as he left the cell. Michael asked how Paul was the one to show him a world without Michael. He soon learned. Michael saw Lauren sitting by the graves of Paul and Christine. Paul explained that Isabella had killed them. "You're dead," Michael realized. Michael credited Christine with changing his life. He watched Lauren light a candle for Christine and Paul. Michael begged Paul to take him home.

Lauren slammed the door in Michael’s face. "No more. I can't take it. Give me my life back," Michael sobbed. Suddenly Michael found something special in his pocket and saw he had his wedding ring on again. He opened the door to his home and was greeted with the love of his worried family. "I got lost for a while," Michael said as he grabbed Kevin for dear life. Then Paul showed up and smiled at his friend.

Everyone learned that there had been a meteor shower. "It's a gift from the angels," Paul said. "Merry Christmas everyone," Michael said as everyone hugged and kissed.
