Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of February 2, 2009

Monday

J.T. surprised Victoria with a romantic, candlelit dinner for their one-year
anniversary. They also wanted to celebrate Noah surviving his fall through
the ice. They sat down to enjoy their meal ... of Reed and Summer's
leftovers. Then they had slices of their one-year-old wedding cake. Vicky
was touched when J.T. gave her a paper bouquet; she gave him a framed
black-and-white photo from their wedding.

A frantic Colleen left several more messages for Brad. Billy and Lily tried
to keep her calm; they suggested that perhaps he just couldn't get cell
phone reception. Colleen was still worried, though, and decided to call the
police. She was told that they couldn't do anything since Brad had only been
missing for a few hours. Billy noted that Brad could take care of himself.
Coll wasn't convinced and decided to search for him herself.

At the Baldwins', Michael and Lauren scolded Eden for going skating in a
storm with Noah. Eden apologized, but he was furious with her for lying to
him. Lauren and Jana tried to calm him down, but he reminded his sister that
she and Noah could've died. Eden stormed up to her room. Lauren tried to get
Michael to see some perspective, but Michael was still angry. Lauren noted
that they needed to give her a reasonable punishment. Upstairs, Eden
complained to Jana about how Michael wouldn't let her say good-bye to Noah.
Jana explained that Michael loves her, which is why he was so upset with
her. Eden thought that Michael wanted her gone.... Michael admitted to
Lauren that he wasn't sure he was cut out to parent a teenager. Lauren
reminded him that Fen would eventually be a teenager. Lauren had faith in
Michael's parenting abilities.... Eden explained to Jana how important Noah
is to her. Later, Jana opined to Michael that Eden's a good kid and
Michael's a good man. Lauren sat with Eden and tried to have a reasonable
conversation with her, explaining why they were so angry. After, Eden and
Michael made up

Meanwhile at the hospital, Nick and Phyllis were relieved to learn that Noah
was going to make a full recovery. Noah again apologized for giving them a
scare. The doctor told them that Noah could leave the hospital the next day
‹ and that the teen was lucky he'd escaped the water when he did. Jack
thanked God for watching over him. Nick wanted to drive up to the Abbott
cabin to fill in Sharon, but Phyllis didn't want him going out into the
storm. Nick insisted, despite her pleas. "I have to do this. I owe this to
Sharon," he explained.... Jack kept vigil by Noah. When Noah awakened, he
asked about Eden; Jack told him that Eden wanted to see him but the doctor
insisted that Noah needed his rest. Jack asked what Noah remembered about
the accident, but all he could recall was falling into the ice. He worried
that Sharon was going to kill him, then worried that Sharon wouldn't be able
to deal with being in the cabin by herself. Jack was confident that she'd be
fine.... Phyllis offered to go up to Sharon while Nick stayed with Noah. She
also thought Jack could be a good person to do the job. Nick wanted Sharon
to get the news from him. "Be careful," a defeated Phyllis told him as he
headed out.

In the cabin, Sharon lit a fire and candles since the power was out and
planned to burn the note she'd written to Nick.... Phyllis confided in Jack
how she feared that Nick had feelings for Sharon. Phyllis decided to find
Nick. Jack urged her not to be so paranoid. Later, Nick arrived at the cabin
and told Sharon about Noah. She wanted to go see her son. On her way, a
police officer told Phyllis it was too dangerous to drive. Sharon and Nick
were given the same message up at the cabin. Sharon freaked out, but Nick
assured her that Noah was okay. He promised to help Sharon make it through
the night and embraced her.

Colleen interrupted Victoria and J.T.'s romantic evening and explained how
concerned she was about Brad. Victoria was very understanding, recalling how
worried she was when Victor was missing. Colleen felt badly about ruining
their dinner.... Billy and Lily got cozy as they awaited word from Brad. He
invited Lily to go up to the cabin with him for Valentine's Day. She wasn't
sure because the day reminded her of her first time with Cane. She agreed to
think about spending the weekend with Billy... J.T. offered to help Colleen
look for her father, but they had no luck.

Tuesday

Phyllis wasn't pleased that she couldn't get through to the cabin,
so Nick would be trapped there with Sharon. Meanwhile, since Sharon
and Nick couldn't drive back to Genoa City, Sharon fretted
about not being able to see Noah. Nick assured that their son would simply
sleep through the night but Sharon beat herself up for being gone. "He's my
baby, he needs me," Sharon lamented, then she got mad at Nick for not
staying with their son. She calmed down when Nick explained that, "this is
where I should be." They both remembered Cassie and discussed the trouble Noah
keeps getting into with Eden. Nick admitted that he knows how it feels, because Nick was the same way when he first laid eyes on Sharon.

J.T. tracked Brad's cell phone signal to "way the hell out in the boonies."
Victoria stayed behind to watch Reed and Summer while J.T. and Colleen went out
in the raging snowstorm to search for Brad. They located his car but Brad
was nowhere to be found. "Oh, my God, where is he?" asked a panicky Colleen.

Victor showed up at the hospital to check on Noah and told Jack to leave.
"You can't throw me out of here, Victor," snarked Jack. "Of course, you're
always welcome to try." The men started arguing when Ashley and Abby showed
up. "How come you guys are so mad at each other?" asked Abby. Ash urged
her daughter to check on Noah. After Jack went to get coffee, Victoria
arrived (having gotten Estella to babysit) and explained that J.T. was
searching for Brad. The doctor came out and announced Noah would be released
in the morning and asked about his parents. Phyllis appeared and confirmed
that Nick and Sharon won't be back by then and offered to take Noah home
when he's released.

Michael and Lauren were upset to find that Eden sneaked out of her room.
Meanwhile, Jack spotted Eden at the hospital and called the Baldwins. Eden
slipped into Noah's room and was thrilled to see him. Abby interrupted them. "You need to go," huffed Abby while Noah tried to
mediate. Michael came in and ushered his sister out. Then it was Lauren who
laid down the law to the rebellious teen. "Our dearest friend's son almost
died because of your irresponsible behavior, and that blatant disrespect is
over," Lauren declared. "Otherwise, there are going to be serious
consequences."

At the hospital, Abby became increasingly worried about her missing dad.
Ashley learned that the road to the ranch was okay so she took Abby home.
Victoria stayed at the hospital with her dad. During Victor’s visit, Noah suddenly remembered, "Someone pulled me out of the water."

Jack drove an antsy Phyllis home from the hospital. She started freaking out
about Nick being with Sharon, and it didn't help when Jack confirmed that
Phyllis "blew it." But Jack also admitted that Phyllis wouldn't have been
able to "topple" his marriage if he hadn't "laid the groundwork." Jack
told Phyllis that he would call in the morning so they could discuss picking
up Noah at the hospital. Meanwhile, Nick found Sharon's letter to him and
read it. Sharon came out and was stunned to see him with it.

Wednesday

At the Abbott cabin, Nick read Sharon's letter. She was embarrassed that
he'd seen it and explained that it wasn't meant for him to read. "Pretend
you didn't read it," she urged. "How can I?" he replied. "It's my fault, I
wasn't there for you," he tearfully told her as he read the section about
his response after Cassie's death. They then leaned in and kissed
passionately ... and then had sex right in front of the fire! After, they
snuggled in each other's arms. "When she died.... all I wanted was for you to
hold me and share the pain that we were both feeling," Sharon said. "I
wanted to, but I couldn't. Not then," Nick whispered.

Victor visited Noah at the hospital. Noah struggled to remember how he'd
escaped after falling into the icy lake and wondered who could've pulled him
out. Victor promised that whoever that person was would be rewarded. After,
Victoria joined them and Victor filled her in on what Noah had told him.
Victoria noted that the paramedics hadn't found anyone else on the scene.
Later, Noah asked for his parents, but Victoria said they hadn't heard from
Nick and Sharon. He then asked for a blanket and his sweater; when Vicky
brought him his clothes, he noted that the gloves weren't his. Victoria
remarked that they looked like the gloves she helped Abby pick out for Brad
for Christmas.

At Murphy's trailer, Katherine and Murphy played a certain card game
together. They discussed her ring; Kay noted that even with it, she wasn't
sure if she could use it to prove her identity. Murphy was more optimistic
that the DNA would prove it. Kay sadly reminded him that not even Jill
believed she was really Kay. She wished her memory would return. "It's like
being in purgatory," she explained. Murphy assured her that she could stay
with him for as long as she wants. Kay replied that she needs to live her
real life. Murphy was very understanding. However, Kay became frustrated
when she forgot one of the rules of the game. She asked Murphy to test her
memory and feared that she had Alzheimer's.

At the cabin, Sharon made hot chocolate for herself and Nick. Nick surprised
her when he brought in a radio that was in the trunk of the car. As they
listened to an old song, they reminisced about when they'd first met and
he'd driven a truck. Their banter became flirtatious and they kissed again.
Sharon thanked him "for everything."

Billy, Lily, Abby and Ashley continued to try to get in touch with a missing
Brad; they went to his home to investigate. Meantime, Colleen and J.T. found
Brad's abandoned car covered in snow, and his cell phone was still in the
car. Colleen began to freak out, but J.T. assured her that they'd find
him.... Ashley checked the voicemail on Brad's phone. Everyone was shocked
when they heard a threatening message from Victor, warning him to resign
from the Newman Board. Abby was horrified that Victor would say such awful
things to Brad. Ashley replied that Victor probably had a reasonable
explanation.... Colleen feared that someone from Brad's past had harmed him.
J.T. reasoned that Brad went to find warm shelter. She wanted to continue
looking for him, but J.T. noted that the storm was getting stronger. J.T.
called Paul for help in the search.... Victor called Ashley and she filled
him on the Brad situation. She also let him know how upset Abby was about
the voicemail message. J.T. and Colleen returned and told the others about
finding Brad's car. Abby and Ashley became very concerned, but J.T. tried to
keep them and Colleen calm. However, when he was alone with Billy, J.T.
admitted that things didn't look so good for Carlton. Later, Victor joined
the group and was greeted by a furious Abby. Colleen then came downstairs
and confronted Newman. "You hate [Brad] because Ashley married him, because
Abby loves him, and because he won't bow down and kowtow to you like
everyone else does!" she seethed. "You know what? For all we know, he heard
your message and was so upset that that's why he didn't show up for dinner."
Victor remained calm as he replied that all he wanted to do was help them
find Brad.

Noah had a flashback of being in the water .... and remembered that Brad was
the one who'd pulled him out of the water.

Thursday

At the hospital, Jack told Phyllis that Brad is the one who saved Noah.
Phyllis wondered what Brad was doing by the lake. Jack noted that his cabin
is nearby. After, Noah again asked where his parents are. Jack explained
that they are stuck because of the weather. Noah hoped he'd get a chance to
thank Brad. When they were alone, Jack accused Phyllis of being the one who
"nudged" Brad to go up to Sharon at the cabin. Phyllis admitted that Nick
knows about her plotting to get Brad and Sharon together, but doesn't believe
that her husband is angry with her. Jack asked if she has any regrets;
Phyllis replied that she does — trusting Brad.

At the Abbott cabin, Nick and Sharon enjoyed breakfast together. Nick noted
that the snow is still too deep for them to drive back to town ... but
neither seemed to care. Soon, the officer stopped by and informed them that
the roads are finally cleared.

Murphy was impressed when Katherine put on a fancy business suit. She was
nervous that she wouldn't be able to get the pawn broker to admit that he
bought the ring from her. Murphy was confident that everything would work
out for her. "All you have to do is be yourself: Katherine Chancellor," he
advised. Meanwhile, Amber suggested they come up with a backup plan; Jana
stated that they could prove Kay's identity with her dental records. Kevin
readily offered to help them get the records, but Daniel wasn't so sure he
wanted to get involved.... Michael stopped by Murphy's trailer with the pawn
broker. Kay emerged and asked the broker if he remembers her, but he lied
that he's never seen her before. Michael produced the receipt for the ring,
but the broker argued that that doesn't prove anything. When Baldwin reminded
him that the file of the purchase is on the broker's hard drive, the broker
accused Michael of being the person who hacked into the computer.... Amber
called Kay's dentist and asked for her records, but got hung up on. Kevin
was confident that they could find another way to get them. Jana tried to
make an emergency appointment, but the next available slot was in March.
Kevin and Amber were willing to snatch the records by other means, in other
words, stealing.... Kay insisted that the broker knew her, but he stuck to
his lie and called her an impostor. She warned that once she reclaimed her
identity, she'd take him down. "You're really her?" he asked. "You bet your
ass, I am," she growled. Later, Michael informed the gang that the broker
admitted everything.... Amber gave Kevin a handmade scarf as a belated
Christmas present.

Phyllis informed Jack that Nick and Sharon were coming home. Jack suspected
that something happened between them while they were snowed in together.
Phyllis concluded that Jack wants her marriage to be ruined since his and
Sharon's didn't work out. Jack replied that he is just being realistic —
and he and Phyllis keep pushing their spouses away. Phyllis angrily stated
that she's going to fight for her marriage. Jack called her out on her
meddling and scheming.... Sharon and Nick prepared to leave the cabin. Their
hands lingered together for a moment as she handed him his scarf. Nick
wasn't sure how they could keep their affair secret, but Sharon noted how
much it would hurt Phyllis and Summer if the truth came out. Nick wondered
what would happen if they lived in another universe and cited a certain
movie that dealt with that. They kissed again, then finally headed out.

J.T. informed Colleen, Ashley and Abby that the police were out looking for
Brad. Colleen wanted to look for him, too; J.T. insisted on going with her.
Soon, Victoria stopped by and told Abby that her father is a hero....
Colleen and J.T. went to the lake and met with an officer. They then heard a
little boy scream ... and in the lake was Brad's frozen corpse. Yikes!
Colleen broke down when J.T. sadly told her they'd found his body. Later,
they returned and filled in the others. Abby, Ashley and Victoria were
devastated.... Jack told Phyllis of Brad's death. She blamed herself for
telling Brad to go to the cabin, but Jack reminded her that Brad made his
own decision to go there.... Abby blamed Eden for Brad's death since she'd
been the one who took Noah skating.... Ashley couldn't believe Brad was gone.
"He always had such a big part to play in my life," she whispered. "He's
family. Always will be." "I loved him, too," said Victoria. They cried and
embraced.

Phyllis waited at home for Nick's arrival. When he returned, she informed
him of Brad's heroic rescue of Noah — and tragic death.... Sharon met up
with Jack at the hospital. Jack shared the sad news about Brad with her.
Sharon sank into Jack's arms. He promised to be there with her when she told
Noah. They then went into Noah's room together and informed him of Brad's
death. Nick joined them and they embraced their son. Jack left, leaving the
three alone; he stared into the room as they clung together as a family.

Friday

Traci met up with the rabbi who was presiding over Brad's funeral service.
She admitted that it would take a long time to get used to the fact that he
was gone. She then flashed back to when her father was in the hospital and
Brad had comforted him.

Meanwhile at Crimson Lights, Lily and Billy offered their condolences to
Colleen, who explained that the service was going to be immediate family
only. Colleen couldn't believe that her father was gone. Having lost Dru,
Lily understood the pain that Colleen was going through.

Neil met up with Victor at the Newman Ranch and discussed Brad. Victor
relayed how upset Colleen was with him and was concerned about how Abby was
doing. "I'm her father ‹ her only father - and that's how it should've been
from the beginning," he told Neil. Victor flashed back to how he and Brad
argued after Brad cheated on Victoria. "To be quite frank with you, I think
having Brad Carlton no longer there is gonna be good for Newman," Victor
admitted to Neil. Cold! Victor wanted Ashley to take over Brad's seat. Neil
worried that it was a conflict of interest, but Victor thought she'd be a
good fit. Victor also thought he could be a good mentor for Billy.

Abby, Ashley, Victoria and Colleen joined Traci in the cemetery. The rabbi
filled them in on some Jewish funereal traditions, like wearing a black
ribbon. Abby and Colleen talked about how their father had been a hero. "He
was brave enough to love deeply, and that takes a special kind of courage,"
added Ashley, as she remembered discussing him wanting to adopt Abby, even
though she wasn't his biological daughter. Traci flashed back to when Brad
helped her deliver Colleen. "Brad gave me everything ... he gave me you,"
she said to her daughter.... Victoria thought that Sharon should be at the
funeral.

Jack and Sharon brought Noah home from the hospital to the Abbott mansion.
Noah felt guilty for Brad's death, but they reminded him that it was an
accident. Sharon blamed herself for Brad dying and filled him in on how Brad
had stopped by the cabin. Jack reminded her that if she hadn't sent Brad
away, he wouldn't have found Noah. Sharon then confessed that she'd spent
the night with Nick. She felt guilty that she and Nick were together while
Brad died saving Noah. That said, she wasn't that concerned about Phyllis. "Phyllis is just gonna have to handle her own crap. And I'll handle mine,"
she said bitterly.

At Nick and Phyllis's, Phyllis suggested that Noah stay with them. Nick
explained that he was at Jack's house. Phyllis told Nick that Summer had
been asking for him. Nick quietly sat down, not saying anything. "You slept
with Sharon, didn't you?" Phyllis blurted out. "I understand if you hate
me," he replied. "It was a moment and now it's over," Phyllis said, but Nick
didn't think it was that easy to let it go. Phyllis explained that she was
determined to make their marriage work. "You're my husband and I'm your wife
and I love you ... and I think you love me," she stated. "I do love you,"
Nick insisted. "That hasn't changed." Though Phyllis was upset about Sharon,
she wanted them to remain a family with Summer. "I think I love you both,"
Nick said in regards to his wife and Sharon. He tried to comfort her, but a
furious Phyllis shoved him away. Still, she refused to let him move out and
reminded him that he had a daughter who needed him. "You have a
responsibility," she noted.

Brad's loved ones had memories (complete with flashbacks) of their times
with him. There was Traci with a young, hunky and shirtless Brad... Ashley
and Brad embracing.... Brad proposing to Victoria. After, Abby told Ashley
that she felt badly for hurting Brad by calling Victor "Dad." Ashley assured
her that Brad had loved her.

Billy noted to Lily that he and Colleen hadn't gone to John's funeral. He
and Lily discussed how Brad had many people who loved him.... Sharon planned
to go to pay her respects to Brad's family. Noah wanted to go, but still
feared that he'd be blamed.... Phyllis arranged to have a platter sent to
the family. She again told Nick that they needed to heal as a family.
Phyllis broke down and begged Nick not to leave.

Victor came by Brad's home to pay his respects. Traci and Ashley were
grateful to see him. Colleen was infuriated, though, and reminded Billy and
Lily how Victor had threatened Brad. Abby greeted Victor, but didn't want to
talk about Brad with him. Soon, Noah arrived and reminded Victor that Victor
had said that he owed the person who saved Noah. Victor noted that he'd
always be grateful to Brad. Noah asked Abby is she hated him; she responded
by embracing him. Ashley assured Victor that Abby would come around... Jack
offended Traci when he called Brad the "Bradsicle." He then explained that
Brad had been trying to come between him and Sharon.... Nick joined them and
was surprised that Jack had brought Noah there. Meanwhile, Sharon went to
the cemetery to pay her respects alone. "I'm so sorry, Brad," she whispered.
She took a seat by the grave plot. "I loved you, Brad. I hoped you knew
that," she said aloud. "You meant so much to me. Why does God take from me
the people I love?" she wondered. "You gave your life for my child and I
will never forget that. Never." She looked up and was surprised to see
Phyllis standing there.
