Y&R Week of July 21, 2008
Monday
Amber welcomed Chloe to the Restless Style team by telling her all about the office drama. When Daniel came in, Amber introduced them, and was hurt when Daniel couldn't look her in the eye. Chloe told Amber not to worry because she'd help her get Daniel back.
Victoria, J.T. and Reed stopped by the club to invite Nikki to go to Indigo with them. David declined to tag along, because he had too much work to do. On the way to Indigo, J.T. got a call from Paul with updates on why David had his name changed. J.T. agreed to meet Paul later to discuss the details. When they got to the club, J.T. and Victoria agreed that Anna had an amazing voice, and should sing at the gala.
At the ranch, Victor apologized to Sabrina for having to deal with the Restless Style stress. Sabrina said she was fine, and she wanted to focus on the excitement of seeing the first ultrasound of the baby. While Sabrina got ready for the appointment, Victor placed a call to a friend and asked him to pull his advertising from the magazine. The friend agreed, and Victor promised to compensate him.
After the doctor's appointment, Sabrina and Victor marveled at the photo of their baby at the coffee shop. J.T. showed up with Reed, and Victor was happy to see Reed was growing strong. When Victoria and Nikki walked in, Victoria told Sabrina about getting Anna to sing at the gala. Sabrina agreed to let Anna sing, and excused herself to an art appointment. Victor asked Victoria to sit with him. He revealed that he'd cut her and Nick out of his will. When Victor returned home, he told Sabrina about the changes in his will. She felt responsible, and told Victor he couldn't do that to older children. Victor remained firm, saying from then on Nick and Victoria would be his children in name only.
Cane took Lily to see a home he was interested in to get her opinion on, and she immediately loved it. She was surprised when he asked her to move in with him. When Lily agreed to do so, Cane told her he'd already bought the house. Lily was thrilled, and she and Cane celebrated their new home. Later, Cane stopped by to ask Neil for his blessing in asking Lily to marry him. Neil approved the union, and told him he hoped Lily would say yes this time.
When Paul and J.T. met, Paul explained that David's real name was Angelo Serafini. J.T. didn't want to keep the information from Victoria, but Paul asked him to keep quiet for 24 hours. J.T. agreed, but while Paul took another call, Nikki saw his legal pad with a note about David's true identity. When she questioned Paul, he told her that David had his name changed. Nikki railed Paul for keeping up the investigation after she asked him not to. When she confronted David about his true identity, he stood speechless, unable to give her an answer.
Tuesday
Nikki demanded to know who Angelo Serafini was, and David admitted that was his real name. He said he'd lied to her about who he was. Nikki felt stupid for defending him when everyone else doubted him. David claimed he was trying to protect Nikki, and if he hadn't changed his name and gotten away from his past, he'd be in the mob or dead. Nikki vowed she was done trying to trust him. She said their marriage was over, but David convinced her to wait until the gala was over to file for divorce. Later, David called a friend and asked for liquid dreamer. "I don't care how much it costs — just get it to me by tonight," he said.
When Nick returned his house keys, he told Victor he was wrong for making him move Summer out of the only home she'd ever known. Nick called him heartless, but Victor maintained Nick he was wrong for publishing the gossipy article on Sabrina. When Nick returned home, he told Phyllis how cruel Victor was to him. Sabrina was shocked that Victor had asked Nick to move out. He reminded his wife how disrespectful Nick and Victoria had been to them. Sabrina thought there must be another way to handle it, but Victor said this was the only way. She asked Victor if he'd ever treat their child like he was treating Nick. Victor said he wouldn't, and Sabrina urged him to not turn his back on Nick.
Phyllis wanted Nick to admit what his father did was hurting him, but he tried to remain unaffected. He continued to pack, but Phyllis thought he shouldn't leave so easily. Nick said getting through to Victor was a lost cause. Over wine, Nick tried to calm down while he and Phyllis looked at possible new homes in the newspaper. Nick's attitude improved, and he got excited about the possibility of starting a new life. Later, Victor went to see Nick and told him he and Phyllis didn't have to move off of the ranch. Nick said he didn't want to stay, and he was still moving.
At Jabot, Brad told Jill about David's gambling problem. Jill said they needed evidence so they could use it as leverage against Nikki and David. While they were meeting, Heather came in to pick up some things of Ji Min's that Jill had, and they told Brad she was unofficially reopening his murder case. Later Brad asked Heather to look into getting logs for David's phones because they believed someone was leaking information. Heather was puzzled, but agreed to get the records. While she fetched the records, Adam waited to ask Heather out. He asked what was going on with David, but Heather said she couldn't discuss it. When Adam returned home he told Victor that Jill and Brad were digging into David's past. Adam urged Victor to go public with the information so they could use it to their business advantage.
Back at Jabot, Jill asked Heather to pull more of David's records and leave them in her office. Jill told Brad that Nikki made a terrible mistake in hiring David, but she that would make it easier to get rid of both of them now. When Heather went through the box of Ji Min's things, she found a photo of Ji Min with Walter.
Gloria was surprised when Jeffrey said he still didn't have the tainted cream. She thought there was something he wasn't telling her, so Jeffrey finally admitted that he stopped in the Caymans on the way back from Korea and set up an offshore company called Agreeing Lovers so they could use it as a front to buy up all of Jabot's stock. When Gloria went to the restroom, Jeff opened his briefcase and looked at the jar of tainted cream he was hiding.
Wednesday
Chloe asked Amber what being married to Cane had been like. "He was the total package," she responded. Chloe pressed to know if he had ever wanted any children. Amber accused Chloe of having a crush on Cane and warned her that that he was all about Lily — no one else. Undeterred, Chloe was determined to find out where Cane and Lily had moved to. Later, Amber lamented Jana how difficult it was to work at Restless Style now that things had gone south with Daniel.
Daniel and Kevin heard Amber do a call-in to Dr. Drew's Loveline show.
Daniel immediately dialed in for a counter call. Amber and Daniel began to argue on the radio show. Drew told them they deserved each other. Amber and Daniel both said (separately) that they were going to move to Los Angeles.
Victor met with JT and Paul to discuss David and Nikki. Paul was convinced that David had mob connections — in fact, he thought David was a professional hit man. Paul told Victor his ex was in grave danger. However, the PI advised against telling Nikki what they had found out, because that would make David more of a threat.
In public, Nikki and David pretended that things were still civil between them, but they weren't. She made it clear that after the gala their relationship was finished. They put on their happy faces when they posed for a photographer. David soon met with Walter, who reminded him he "had a job to do." David begged for some more time, then told a mysterious person that he knew all about liquid morphine.
Victoria was furious with Victor for having thrown Nicholas off the ranch.
Victor explained that he had reconsidered and asked him to stay. Vikki still blamed Sabrina as the reason Victor was at odds with her and her brother. Nikki burst in on the conversation and stated that for most of Nicholas and Victoria's lives, Victor had been a terrible father. Katherine stepped in and kept World War III from breaking out. In his defense, Victor reminded Nikki of her drinking days.
Later, Nikki begged Victoria not to tell Victor what she had learned about David, or that she and her new groom had called it quits. Sabrina moved in and accused Victoria of being a spoiled little brat. "If your goal was to cut all ties with me, then congratulations. Wish granted," Sabrina told her ex-friend through her tears. Katherine demanded that Sabrina and Victoria treat each other civilly until the gala was over.
As Lily and Cane moved into their new house, Chloe spied through the window and saw Cane looking at the ring he planned to give to Lily.
Anna and Devon agreed to perform a duet at the gala.
Thursday
Lily and Cane got all romantic and lovey-dovey in their new house. As for Chloe, "We can handle anything that she throws at us," Lily announced.
Elsewhere, Nick thought Jack shouldn't go to the gala because Victor was still very upset about the Sabrina profile. Jack didn't care and intended to tell Victor that the Sabrina issue was a big seller. Chloe and Amber bonded over the Loveline fiasco on the radio. Chloe vowed to be the buffer between Amber and Daniel. Daniel told Kevin he would be avoiding the gala.
At the gala, David told Nikki that he thought their marriage could still work. "The problem with that, David, is I can't promise to believe you," Nikki responded. Sabrina told Victor she can't wait for the gala to be over. Victor said he wanted to announce her pregnancy very soon, but Sabrina didn't. "When Victoria and Nicholas find out, they're going to be devastated," she reminded her new husband. Nevertheless, Victor told his oldest children that he wanted to meet with them tomorrow. Later, he let Kay know that he was disappointed in Victoria's recent behavior and added that the family better get used to Sabrina and the baby. Kay reminded her friend that he wasn't always the best of fathers.
Gloria gloated to Jeff that when she becomes majority holder of Jabot, she'll make Jill her receptionist. They watched the financial news and realized they should buy up shares of Jabot when the stock price drops — which will be the moment news hits that David is a compulsive gambler. The two started kissing and then headed upstairs.
Back at t the gala, all the women ohhed and ahhed over each other's dresses. Nikki and David pretended that all was well between them. Cane let Jill and Kay know that he was planning to propose to Lily that night. Jill was thrilled over the thought of planning another wedding. Cane told Lily this night was wonderful because he was by her side. He was about to propose when Chloe interrupted. "I'm pregnant and you are the father," she told the shocked couple.
Adam told Heather he heard that David lost a lot of money recently at a poker game. He asked more questions about David, but she wasn't spilling. Victor told Adam he was planning on making a big announcement at the ranch the following day. He added that Nicholas and Victoria would both be there. Meanwhile, Sharon boasted about the new issue of Restless Style. Michael asked Nick why he would publish an embarrassing article about Sabrina, "when you knew it would just hurt her and infuriate your father." Phyllis explained that Jack had rewritten the story behind everyone's back. Victoria joined the group and everyone stopped talking. Vikki told her brother that she wouldn't stay at the ranch either if he wasn't there. Jack admitted to Sabrina that he had rewritten the story to boost sales. Sabrina was stunned but then reminded Jack that "the only person you hurt is Nick." With that, she walked away.
Amber told Chloe that she had a friend in Los Angeles who said she could move in with her. Chloe wasn't interested and began stalking Lily. Amber was frustrated and demanded that Chloe stay by her side. Amber let Kay know her plans to move back to LA. Kay warned that would be running away and letting Phyllis win.
Paul told JT he found a photo that might link David, Walter and Ji Min. JT was anxious to see because "if we don't get something soon on Chow, Victor's gonna blow and ruin this entire thing." Paul finally got the full photo of David, Walter and Ji Min.
Adam and Heather shared a romantic moment which was interrupted by a phone call from his friend. They both thought it was odd that no one had heard from Skye. Just then, it was announced over the news that Skye Lockhart had been reported missing. Adam and Heather didn't hear it, though, because they were on the terrace kissing. When Adam went to get more champagne, Walter approached Heather.
Brad and Jill cornered David and demanded that he resign or they would expose his habit to the board. David brought Nikki a drink — spiked with poison. He thanked his almost-ex for sticking by him. "Do me this one last favor. I'd like to make a toast to you for the changes you've brought into my life," he claimed.
Victoria formally welcomed everyone to the gala and introduced David as the chief fund-raiser. He applauded Nikki in his remarks.
Friday
Paul looked at a photo of David standing next to Ji Min and Walter. "I think he killed Ji Min Kim," Paul realized. At the gala, Nikki made it clear to David that his lying destroyed their marriage and that she would be filing for divorce the following day. David promised not to cause any problems...but then pulled Katherine aside and told her he thought Nikki may be drinking. Kay confronted Nikki, who immediately denied it as she held on to her drugged ginger ale. Nikki refused to go home early. Kay asked David to keep an eye on his wife.
A limo driver told David there had been a problem with his car so they sent a replacement. JT grabbed Nikki and begged her to come with him.
Apparently baby Reed was sick and JT needed Nikki's help taking care of him.
Nikki wanted to tell David of her change of plans, but JT said she could make the call from his car. David asked Kay if she had seen Nikki. Kay had not.
At JT's, Nikki was frantic to see the baby. However, when Paul appeared it became clear that there was no baby emergency — they were there about David. "You are not going anywhere until you hear what I have to say," announced Paul. Nikki couldn't believe that David was a murderer. JT insisted that Nikki stay with them and not go home. She took a deep breath and admitted that she and David were getting a divorce. Paul asked if Nikki had been drinking and she said she had been only drinking ginger ale. However, David had brought her that glass.... Before long, Nikki became sick. Paul called the hospital and let them know he was bringing in a woman who had ingested an unknown substance.
Heather made it clear to Walter that she had not been making eyes at him in the parking lot. Walter walked off and Adam rejoined his girlfriend.
Sabrina wanted to order more champagne — apparently half of the order was missing — but Victoria didn't want to dip into the profits. Victor saved the day and said he'd pay for the additional bottles. Victoria told JT she couldn't wait for the gala to be over. Paul called JT with news that he had proof of a connection between David, Walter and Ji Min. Apparently they had opened a House of Kim Cosmetics branch in the US.
Jill and Brad wondered what David and Katherine were talking about. Jill got a call from a reporter asking if the rumors that Jabot's co-CEO was a gambling addict were true. Jill said they were investigating the allegation. Jill confronted Kay about the David-is-a-gambler rumor. Kay didn't confirm she already knew it but did suggest Jill "assure the investors Jabot is sound." Kay told Jill that she thinks Nikki fell off the wagon. "Perfect," Jill replied. "Is there anything else I should know?"
Devon was excited at the thought of singing at the gala. Tyra was thrilled when Neil asked her to dance. Sabrina introduced Anastasia and Devon who then rocked the house. After the show, Sabrina saw David getting into a car.
She begged for a ride home. He said he could give her a lift.
Nick applauded his sister on the great job she had done co-chairing the event. He told Victoria how Jack had interviewed Philippe and changed the Sabrina article. When Victoria heard that she was eager to find Sabrina, but she had just left with David. She did run into Adam though, and they agreed they'd both be at the ranch the next morning.
Amber cornered Phyllis and accused her of masterminding the breakup with Daniel. "I hope I'm not as miserable and as rotten as you are when I'm your age," Amber spat.
A shocked Cane and Lily couldn't believe that Chloe was pregnant. Lily insinuated that the father could be anyone, something Chloe took offense at. Lily assured Cane that she believes him, not Chloe.
Sharon told Nick and Phyllis that thanks to Jack sales of Restless Style
were through the roof again. Nick told his wife that there was no way he could convince Sharon that what Jack did was wrong. Jack thanked Sharon for sticking up for him. Nick and Michael agreed they were with the hottest women at the gala.
Michael and Victor had to go somewhere. Apparently a "package" Victor was interested in had arrived early. The package was Philippe, who denied ever speaking to a writer named Adrian Korbel. He did, however, confirm talking to Jack Abbott. "I'll be damned," Victor said. Philippe claimed that had Sabrina not met him, she would "be waiting tables across the street" from the gallery. Michael and Victor showed Philippe the door.
Jana was thrilled to see that the champagne wasn't missing, it was just in storage. Jana and Kevin talked about wedding places and it came out that both Daniel and Amber were thinking about moving to Los Angeles.
Victor texted Sabrina and told her, "I will make it up to you when you get home." Sabrina gasped — David lost control of their car and crashed.
