Monday
Nick's trial began. Michael hadn't heard from Victor in Brazil. A witness confessed that she heard Nick say he wanted to wring Adam's neck. The prosecutor proved that Nick and Adam were not friends. Nikki told the court about the intervention they held for Adam at a remote cabin. "We were concerned about him," she explained. The prosecutor insinuated that she raced to the cabin because she was afraid Nick might kill Adam. The intervention was the right thing to do, Nikki insisted, adding that at no time was Adam's life in danger. Jack showed up in the courtroom and sat next to Phyllis, who was called to the stand and asked to identify a pen. It might be Nick's, she admitted. Phyllis said that everyone was upset that Adam had escaped. "My husband did not kill anyone," Phyllis said, looking directly at the jury. The DA asked Phyllis if she had anything to do with Nick's tuxedo jacket landing in a dumpster downtown. She asked Sharon to get rid of it, said Phyllis – there had been some blood on the jacket. The prosecution rested and the judge said they would take a short recess. Phyllis apologized for making Nick look bad. "You did fine," Michael assured her. Phyllis rushed out and told Jack she was not fine. "I am angry. Frustrated," she said, starting to cry.
In Brazil, Victor and Sharon found Skye and Adam. Adam had no desire to return to Genoa City. "We need your help," Sharon pleaded. When gunmen surrounded Skye and Adam, Adam said, "Kill me," then walked away; the soldiers began shooting. Victor, Sharon and Adam got into a helicopter and Victor told them that Phyllis and Nikki had testified. "I'm back in your lives," Adam said to Sharon and Victor, adding, "It makes you wonder who the real winner is here."
Skye opened a bag full of money and smiled
Emily and Jack enjoyed the flowers from the garden. Emily admitted she missed talking to Jack and asked what it was like being there with Patty. "I missed you every moment you were gone," he said. Paul showed up at the door with Emily's brother Jamie. Emily gave him a big hug and urged her brother to step up. Jamie thought the police should arrest Patty for stealing the prescription pad. "You are using again," Emily accused. Jamie wanted her to bail him out of this situation, but Emily insisted Jamie had to own it. Paul heard noises and tiptoed into the room. "I'm in trouble with the DA and I need your help," she pleaded. Paul interrupted them and said they should blame him for all this trouble — he should have just done the DNA test between Emily and Patty. Jamie that he has something Paul will never have, said Paul — a whole, healthy sister. He'd land jail if he turned himself in, pointed out Jamie. Emily promised to get her brother the help he needs, and they hugged. Emily told Paul he had to forgive himself. "I have," she said, adding that she was staying in Genoa City. Paul smiled.
Jill opened the envelope with the DNA tests. "We share the same father. We're sisters," Jill told Lauren. Jill seemed thrilled to have a sister, but the sentiment wasn't shared by her new sib. "We can take it slow," Jill suggested. Lauren wanted to get to the courthouse. "I grew up with a father who loved me," Lauren said. Jill was just "someone I know. You are not a part of my life," she said firmly. "This changes everything for us," argued Jill, who wanted to be sisters with Lauren. Lauren wanted some time to let everything sink in. Jill stood outside the door of Fenmore's and touched the name, then called an attorney. "It's about my family estate and what my rights are," she said.
Tuesday
Jack told Paul and Emily that Phyllis lost it on the stand at Nick's trial. Jamie entered. He has been clean 24 hours and will turn himself in. Paul offered to drive him. Emily and Jamie agreed that Paul is a godsend. Jack comforted Emily and said he has lined up Michael to defend Jamie. They kissed. Jack pulled away, claiming he did not want to take advantage of her misplaced gratitude. Let's take it slow this time, he urged, apologizing again for not realizing Patty was posing as Emily. Emily said it's time to move on. Patty is in the past. They kissed again. Emily pulled Jack to the bedroom.
Nick informed Adam that a car would be meeting them at the GC airport to take them to Nick's trial. Adam will then testify that he was responsible for Hightower's murder. Yeah, right, scoffed Adam. Victor laid out the scenario that Adam donated his bone marrow to Hightower to frame Nick. Testify and show people there is still some goodness in you, begged Sharon. When Sharon hears Adam's story, Adam replied cryptically, she might realize he is not a "lost cause."
Nikki comforted Phyllis about her testimony. Phyllis complained about Nick's obsession over Sharon and said she's exhausted. "Are you thinking of leaving him?" asked Nikki. No, said Phyllis. Nikki reminded Phyllis that no matter what happens with Nick and Sharon, he comes home to Phyllis. Phyllis lamented that while Nikki is Victor's "end game," Phyllis is not Nick's - Sharon is. Phyllis needs more than loyalty from Nick. Nikki left. Sharon arrived, with the news that Victor had taken Adam to the courthouse. How was seeing Adam? It gave her closure, replied Sharon. Phyllis marveled that Adam got caught because he can't get over Sharon, just like all the other men in her life. Once again, Sharon is the hero. Sharon retrieved Faith and told Phyllis that Nick could call her later. We both know he will, snarked Phyllis.
"My own wife thought I was capable of murder," rued Nick to Michael, demanding Michael put him on the stand to testify in his own defense. Pomerantz zeroed in on Nick, listing kidnapping, murder and other charges against Nick. Nick yelled that he won't be railroaded by "this son of a bitch." The courtroom erupted and the judge ruled Nick in contempt. Victor entered with Adam. Michael called Adam to the stand, against the DA's objections. Michael called Adam "Mr. Wilson," but he said he is going by his given name, Adam Newman. Michael pressed. Adam flipped out, asking them not to hurt him and saying it was "just like the cabin." Court recessed and Adam was carted away. Was he like this on the plane? "No. It's an act," Victor explained to Nikki, Michael and Nick.
Patty helped a fellow patient in the loony bin, then confessed to an admiring nurse she is lonely. Paul showed up, thrilled to find her lucent. Patty asked Paul how Dr. Peterson was doing. Paul assured her the whole prescription pad thing has been straightened out. Patty regrets helping Adam escape from the hospital. She is having dreams about "the two Adams." Adam told her he would ruin her life if she ever told, and she is scared. You're safe now, promised Paul. Alone, Patty peacefully turned to her paints, until she heard a commotion in the hall. It was Adam being led down the hall, screaming.
Wednesday
Abby found Daniel at Crimson Lights and told him she just scored the cover of Restless Style. Would Daniel like to be part of it since he was "Mr. Cute Butt" from the video? No. Abby asked Tucker if he would like to help her launch herself as a worldwide brand — clothing line, perfume, etc. Tucker admires her ambition, but declined her offer. The "poor little rich girl" thing has been done. Abby complained to Daniel that Tucker has no vision and called her mom for money. Ashley hung up. Daniel got a call about his rent being late and Abby suggested he ask his mom for money. Daniel lectured Abby that he lives in the real world, not dependent on his parents.
Neil showed Ashley pictures of his new grandchildren at Indigo, saying their birth has made him take stock. "Are you breaking up with me?" asked Ashley. Yes. They agreed to stay friends and hugged as Tucker walked in. Tucker asked after Lily and zeroed in on Ashley when Neil took a phone call. Tucker and Ashley flirted and then went to Crimson Lights.
Jeffrey and Gloria celebrated their wedding anniversary at Indigo despite the fact that they are divorced. Jeffrey gave her their marriage certificate framed in gold. They patted themselves on the back for tricking the Abbotts out of getting Gloria's money (from the Jabot settlement) by putting it all in Jeffrey's name and danced. Gloria asked when she was going to get her big surprise. They toasted with champagne and Gloria coughed. "You're choking on your surprise!" Jeffrey retrieved a key and shared that he has bought Gloria a bar. "Indigo is ours!" Neil joined them and confirmed he has sold the club to Jeff for cash. Neil and Dru had good times there. Gloria promised the good times will continue. Indigo will be the new "in place."
Billy. Chloe, Delia, Paul, Nina, Kevin, Chance and Heather joined Katherine and Jill for a little bash at the Chancellor Mansion. Heather praised Chance's protectiveness, to Nina's delight and Chloe's chagrin. Nina updated the crowd on the movie interest in Katherine's book. "Oh, please," scoffed Jill. Chance broke the news to everyone that he and Chloe are engaged. "I'm going to be sick," said Nina. "That's awkward, huh?" said Kevin to Heather. They discussed Adam being alive. Jill told Billy that her mom shared news about her biological family before she died. ‘Your mom slept with a Fenmore?" responded Billy. Detective Malloy arrived with news that the cops have found an apt. for Heather to move into for her protection. Katherine offered him a beer. Malloy discussed living in L.A. with Nina, who just got back from there, and chatted up Chloe. Chloe apologized for all the family drama. Malloy thought Chloe should apologize to Nina. WHAT? Chance pulled his mother aside and told her she has to accept Chloe. Billy called Kevin "Chipmunk" and they sparred over Billy's long ago date with Jana. How is Jana? Kevin doesn't know. They split up. Jana is living at the GCAC with Ryder. "That's harsh," allowed Billy. Paul called Heather on her crush on Chance. She insisted they are just friends. Heather checked the address of her new apartment. That's Kevin's building! Detective Malloy, Heather and Chance had to leave to discuss Ellis. Malloy hoped he didn't get off on the wrong foot with Chloe; they need to get along for Chance's sake. "Meet your new roommate," said Chloe to Kevin. Jill relayed to Katherine and Billy that she is looking into her options with the Fenmore estate. "Tacky," proclaimed Esther. "Oh, God, I smell trouble," agreed Katherine.
Abby went to leave Crimson Lights and spied Tucker kissing Ashley. "OMG! He is totally sleeping with my mom!" she gasped to Daniel.
Thursday
Adam babbled to a doctor in the loony bin. After the doctor left, Adam tried to pry the grate off an air vent, making it clear he is not mentally ill. An orderly took Adam to the sitting room, where he spied Patty. A nurse asked Patty to write down her feelings as part of her therapy. Patty said she felt she can help other people now, like Dawn, a fellow patient who treasures her baby doll. Adam jabbed a pen into the baby doll and whispered to Dawn that Patty did it. Dawn flipped out and accused Patty. "I didn't do anything!" insisted Patty. Perhaps she just forgot, said the doctor. Upset, Patty asked to go back to her room. "Room 413," he directed the nurse as Adam eavesdropped. Adam went back to his room, unhinged the vent, and crawled in. Patty cried in her bed about all the terrible things Adam made her do, repeating to herself, "I didn't do it!" Adam taunted her through the vent, identifying himself as the devil and saying Patty will burn in hell. "No!" she screamed.
Ryder looked for jobs online with Jana's encouragement. They discussed their need for "new digs" since Kevin won't pay for the GCAC anymore. Ryder wants to prove how much he cares for Jana by providing for them.
Victor and Michael stressed to DA Pomerantz that Adam faked his breakdown in court, and obviously killed Hightower. If the DA is going to go after a Newman, go after the right Newman, boomed Victor. Nick is no longer a flight risk since Adam, Victor and Sharon returned from Brazil, so let him out on bail. No — the DA has proof that Victor engineered Frank Ellis's attack on Nick which got him out of prison last time. Michael examined the evidence, a signed affidavit from Ellis saying Victor promised to care for his family in exchange for Frank "attacking" Nicholas. The DA proved it with a Swiss bank account in Frank's wife's name, spitting that Nick stays where he is. "That man is an ass," proclaimed Victor. Victor and Michael went to the loony bin to see Adam. The doctor told them he has finished his psych evaluation on Adam and is convinced Adam is putting on an act. Victor asked to be the one to tell Adam his act didn't fly.
Chance and Malloy sparred over who would question Frank Ellis; Chance insisted he do it. The sergeant popped by to introduce himself to the new detective. Heather offered Ellis a deal in exchange for information, but Ellis smugly refused. He HAS a deal with someone. Malloy took over, playing hardball with Ellis. Malloy demanded names and choked Ellis; Chance intervened and had Ellis escorted back to his cell. Malloy took off. Chance angrily lashed out at "Detective Hollywood," telling Heather that Malloy ruined their plan.
Chloe pleaded with Kevin to let her and Delia move into his apartment. Kevin pointed out that Chance is just doing his job and Chloe has no reason to be jealous of Heather. Chloe badgered Kevin into saying yes. We're going to be the best roommates ever, gushed Chloe. "Until Chance figures out you're spying on him," retorted Kevin. Chloe assured Esther on the phone that she is not moving to Guam, and will come by the house every night. Nina turned up and questioned Chloe's motives. Chloe asked Nina not to tell Chance that she is moving in with Kevin; Nina refused. Nina remarked sarcastically that of course Chloe would move from a mansion where her mommy treats her like a princess into a one-bedroom apt. with Kevin. Chloe fought back just as Malloy showed up. He sided with Nina.
Kevin went home to find Jana in his apartment with partial payment of the money she owes him, along with their joint credit cards. They argued about Ryder. Jana insisted Ryder was out right now looking for a job. Cut to Ryder breaking into a room at the GCAC. Ryder made a cryptic phone call promising money to someone. Jana came home, saying she is proud of Ryder. Ryder offered a zen saying that they will make the best of their circumstances.
Malloy met secretly with the sergeant, assuring him he can handle Chance. Meanwhile, Chloe moved in to Kevin's apt. and ran into Chance and Heather in the hall. "Meet your new neighbor!" she beamed.
Friday
Chance accused Chloe of moving across the hall with Kevin because she doesn't trust him. Chloe answered that it will make it easier to plan the wedding if they are near each other. Heather opened the door to her new apt, and Chloe looked around. "You're sleeping in a studio with my fiance?" Chance pointed out that Heather is his assignment and he will sleep on the floor. Heather stepped in and said she and Chance have to go to bed because they have an early deposition. Chloe and Kevin left. Does Heather have to push Chloe's buttons like that? asked Chance. Chance did push-ups. Heather commented that Adam used to do push-ups, too. How is she doing now that Adam is alive? Chance asked. Heather confessed she can't get over having fallen for a psychopath. Not all guys are like that, assured Chance. Heather blamed Paul for not checking up on her and her mother during the abusive-stepfather years. Back in their apartment, Kevin encouraged Chloe to relax and unpack. She agreed to take a bath and "read a book about all the poisons that are impossible to trace." Chloe snuck out and eavesdropped at Heather's door. Kevin dragged her back. They drank wine. Chloe confided that Chance was a virgin when they got together, and now she worries he may want to… spread his wings.
Adam taunted Patty through the vent at the loony bin. The doctor escorted Victor and Michael to Adam's room, but heard Patty scream and ran to her room. Patty said she heard voices and insisted she did not jab the pen into the doll. The doctor agreed to let Patty go to the day room if she stays calm. Victor went alone to Adam's room and confronted him as he banged his head against the wall. "Think you're being clever?" sneered Victor. No one was buying Adam's act, Victor said, adding that he knows Adam killed Richard Hightower. "I didn't do it," replied Adam. The doctor entered saying they found no evidence of mental illness. Adam would be released into police custody. Adam made a kitty mask out of construction paper and tossed it to Patty in the day room. She freaked and asked to go back to her room. Adam pointed at her through the window wearing a construction-paper mask like the one from the night of the murder. Patty screamed. Adam got all the inmates to wear masks. Patty screamed louder. The doctor sedated her. Adam lurked.
Victor and Michael gave DA Pomerantz a copy of the doctor's medical report on Adam. His case didn't hold water now — the tape of Adam pretending Nick was coming after him makes the DA look incompetent. Drop the charges, boomed Victor. The DA called Heather and Chance, relaying the info and saying if the case blows up he will look like a fool. Heather suggested they dismiss, rather than move ahead against Nick. Adam is the bad guy. "Put Adam away and you'll be a hero," assured Chance. Heather thanked Chance for having her back. They went to bed in their skivvies, hanging a sheet for privacy. The sheet fell and they had to get up. Awkward!
The DA informed Victor and Michael he has issued an arrest warrant for Adam, but is not dropping the case against Nick. He will put both Newman boys in prison. "A man who seeks vengeance digs two graves," warned Victor. "One for his enemy, and one for himself."
Sharon visited Nick in prison. Nick was so worried Adam would get to her in Brazil! Sharon responded that Phyllis is a wreck and Nick needs to focus on his wife. Nick insisted he cares about Sharon because she is Faith's mother. "This goes beyond co-parenting," asserted Sharon. "Maybe it's time we dealt with that." Nick was not going to apologize for worrying that Sharon went after the man who kidnapped their daughter. What happened in Brazil? Sharon told Nick the whole story, saying she used Adam's love for her to convince him to come back. It made Nick sick that Sharon used herself as bait. Sharon insisted she's not afraid of Adam anymore. She should be, warned Nick. Sharon assured Nick she will be fine and left. A prison guard entered with the news there will soon be a new inmate: Nick's brother, Adam. "Try not to kill him again," snarked the guard.
