Y&R Week of June 7, 2010
Monday
Victoria woke Billy up by dropping by with a jar of pickles she needed him to open. "Can't stay away from me, can you?" he smiled, grabbing her.
Ashley asked Tucker to confirm he is doing nothing shady to acquire Beauty of Nature. He's not — but he's got a plan to leak it that Jabot is making a move on the company. It's sneaky, but not illegal. "I'm okay with sneaky," said Ash. Where is the leak going to come from? Jill — she bugged their last meeting! Ashley and Tucker flirted while discussing their plan.
Jill ran into Nikki outside Billy's apartment and questioned what she was doing there. You didn't hear? Our kids got married! Jill stormed in to confront Billy and found him on the couch with Vicky. Nikki followed, saying Victor needs to talk to Vicky. The Newmans left, so Jill could lower the boom on Billy. "Go away — I've got it covered," snarked Billy "You've got a plan!" exulted Jill. Jill played the tape of Tucker and Ashley discussing a takeover, probably of Beauty of Nature. Tucker called Jill and invited her to the club for a drink.
Chance did not answer Chloe's marriage proposal, choosing instead to answer a call from Heather who said she was locked in her car with a bomb inside it. Chance carefully broke into Heather's car while Chloe called 911. Chance told Heather she couldn't get up from her seat, or the bomb would go off. He rigged a weight to go on the seat and slowly lifted Heather out of the car. They ran away, grateful the bomb did not detonate. Chloe watched as Heather and Chance embraced.
At Newman Enterprises, Nikki tried to discuss Billy with Vicky, but hit a brick wall. Victoria knows Billy is a jerk, but he is fun — and he thinks she's fun, too. Victor entered and informed them he was heading to Ottawa with the same pilot who flew Adam there. Victor needs Vicky to run the company while he is gone. Vicky was grateful Victor still has faith in her after everything that's happened. They urged Victor to be careful.
Heather, Chance and Chloe relayed the bomb story to DA Pomerantz at Crimson Lights. They decided Riggs was behind it to send a message to Chance. Heather vowed to get answers. Chance apologized to Chloe that his job put her in danger and said yes to her marriage proposal. Heather interrupted to tell Chance that the DA wants a security detail placed on her 24/7 — and he wants it to be Chance.
Tucker asked Jill for her "special insight." He laid out his plans to steal Beauty of Nature from Victor and asked Jill to nose around about Victor's business dealings in Japan using her feminine wiles. "You want me to seduce Victor Newman?" she asked. "That's a hell of an idea," replied Tucker. Jill called Billy with all the info, and then raced over to play him the new tape of their conversation. She opened the tape recorder and found the tape gone: Damn that Tucker McCall!
Vicky went back to Billy's, claiming she lost an earring. They made fun of their mothers putting them in "time out" and then Billy revealed to Victoria that Tucker is going after Beauty of Nature. Vicky was grateful for the heads up and asked him not to print it.
Nikki ran into Ashley and they discussed Adam. Nikki assured Ash that Faith was being very well guarded at the ranch, and updated her on Victor's trip. Ashley headed out, as Vicky arrived to inform her mom of the Japanese dealings. What should Vicky do? Nikki counseled that Victor put her in charge, so she should use her best judgment. I guess I'm going to Japan, responded Vicky.
Ashley raced back to inform Tucker about Victor's trip. Tucker responded by showing Ashley the tape he stole from Jill's tape recorder. They discussed whether it was fair to make a move on the company while Victor was out of the country doing a job Ashley supports. Tucker retorted that his motto is, "Do unto Victor as he would do unto us."
Victor asked the pilot when they would land and he laughed: This is foreign airspace — Adam parachuted out. If Victor wants to find Adam, he'll have to go out the same way. Victor donned a parachute and jumped.
Tuesday
Victor called Michael to tell him he jumped out of a plane in Ottawa to find Adam. Michael broke the news that the DA wants to take the case of Nick killing Hightower to a grand jury.
Nick helped Sharon walk with her IV pole at the hospital. They discussed Faith and reminisced about Cassie. Sharon confessed that she thought she was going to die in the cornfield. Nick said he couldn't imagine his life without her. "Looks like I came just in time," remarked Phyllis from the door. The three of them had an awkward conversation about fate conspiring to keep Nick and Sharon from their daughter. "It's not fate," he spit. "It's Adam." Phyllis and Nick stepped out to argue about Sharon going back to live at the ranch when she is released. Phyllis thinks they need space from Sharon. Nick countered that Sharon keeps Nikki company on the ranch, and the security is better. Michael interrupted to relay the bad news that Nick had just been indicted for Hightower's murder.
Victoria filled JT in her upcoming trip to Japan. "Try not to have too much Saki and get married," he snarked. JT agreed to let Vicky see Reed on her way to the airport.
Mac pressed Billy on his feelings for Vicky while he drank beer at her bar. He hedged, turning the conversation around to Mac's pregnancy and Lily's health.
The Winterses celebrated Devon's graduation from college. Cane stepped out to call Lily in Paris. Lily admitted that the treatment is not working the way she and Aunt Liv wanted. She asked Cane not to ruin her family's night by telling them the bad news. Neil gave Devon a fancy camera for when he starts working with Uncle Malcolm. Malcolm stepped outside and found Cane upset. Cane confided Lily's treatment isn't working, adding that he is going to "pull the trigger" on the lawsuit against Mac to get the babies' stem cells. They went back inside as Devon opened Lily's gift of a Miles Davis CD.
Victoria filled Victor in on her trip to Japan to shore up Beauty of Nature. He instructed her to bring an envelope to a man named Mitsukoshi. Billy showed up in Vicky's office and asked where she was going. "That's for me to know and you not to find out," she replied. Billy updated Vicky on Tucker finding out that they know of his interest in Beauty of Nature. The two moguls then had sex on Victor's desk, under Victor's portrait. "I can't believe we did that here, with him watching," giggled Vicky. Billy left, but returned in time to eavesdrop that Vicky was going to Tokyo.
Victor entered a rough bar and started asking around about Adam. He ordered a double shot of tequila and asked the pretty female bartender if anyone there might have helped Adam get a boat to Quebec. She pointed to a tough guy across the bar. Victor questioned the man but he snottily denied knowing Adam. Victor offered him money but the man mouthed off. Victor choked the man and demanded he take his watch off -- it was Adam's! A brawl broke out, stopped by the bartender brandishing a baseball bat. The man agreed to take Victor down to the boat he used. Victor thanked the bartender. "Don't come back," she smiled.
JT stopped into Mac's bar and asked her out. As they were leaving, Mac got served with papers informing her that Cane was suing her for her amniotic fluid.
Phyllis, Nick and Michael broke the news of Nick's indictment to Sharon. Phyllis reassured them all that Victor will find Adam and make the son of a bitch pay. The doctor entered with the good news that Sharon can go home, but she needs to take it easy. Nick assured her Sharon will have plenty of support at the ranch. A sarcastic Phyllis offered to help Sharon pack.
Neil opened the door to an angry Mac (with JT). "You want to tell me what the hell you are thinking?" Mac yelled at Cane.
Vicky prepared to board the plane for Japan. Billy turned up with the seat next to hers.
Victor searched the foggy boatyard alone when suddenly he was hit from behind and fell to the ground.
Somewhere faraway, Adam hung up the phone, lamenting that Victor has shown up in Canada and knows he's alive. His former fiancee Skye sat up next to him in bed and told him not to worry -- they'll never figure it out.
Wednesday
Neil was outraged after hearing Mackenzie's explanation about Cane's lawsuit. "Tell me you're not going there!" Neil growled at Cane. Devon was furious that Cane would go behind his sister's back and act against her wishes. Malcolm was the only one defending Cane, saying that he had a right to try to save his wife's life. "If I have to go to court to have my side of this heard, then so be it," a defiant Cane stated. Mac said she would fight him every step of the way, and Neil pronounced that he would back his daughter one hundred percent. The more Cane protested, the more suspicious Neil became that something was wrong with Lily. Cane broke down and admitted that the French treatment wasn't working and that Lily's life was on the line. "Please don't say no to me now!" Cane pleaded tearfully. Mac stood firmly in her position. "You want an ugly court battle? You've got one!" she shouted and rushed out of the apartment. Neil didn't understand how Cane could have betrayed Lily.
Victor awoke from the blow to his head and found himself on the bar floor. The bartender placed an icepack on his head and informed him that he had been jumped and robbed by Shaw Roberts. A dizzy Victor stumbled to a bar stool and begged her to spill everything she knew about Shaw and Adam. "I'll make it really worth your while," he pleaded. He found out her name was Meggie, and offered to help spruce up her bar in exchange for information about Adam. Meggie didn't have any interest in "squeezing" Victor for money, but he played on her sympathies by bringing up Summer. Meggie began providing details, such as the fact that Adam had rented a room for several days, and that he had left it spotless when he left. She also recalled that he had stared at a photo on the wall. She produced the photo, which Victor studied. "She looks familiar," he mused, unknowingly looking at Skye's face. He flipped the photo over to find a message about waiting for Shaw to contact her. The message ended with: "See you in paradise." Victor used Meggie's cell phone to snap a photo and text it to Michael. He followed it up with a call to Michael, who identified the photo as Skye. They put two and two together, and realized that Skye had faked her own death. They agreed not to disclose their new information to Nick until they had more to go on. Victor asked Meggie to rent a room, and instructed her to contact Shaw and have him meet him there tomorrow night.
Phyllis and Michael arrived at the ranch with baby Faith. Peering in the window, Phyllis seethed at the sight of Nick comforting Sharon on the sofa. Sharon protested that she didn't need any help; that she wanted to be an independent woman and good role model for Faith. Michael and Phyllis entered with the baby. Nick went upstairs to put her to sleep, and Michael left to take a phone call, leaving Phyllis and Sharon alone. Their claws came out, with Phyllis accusing Sharon of playing the damsel in distress. "For the love of God, do you HAVE to live at the ranch?" she screeched. Sharon surprisingly agreed, saying that she too was uncomfortable living there, and wanted her own space to live her own life. "You're serious about finding a place, then? I'm on it!" Phyllis exclaimed. Nick took Phyllis home. Once there, he kissed her and reassured her that he loved her. They kissed passionately, which led into making love on the couch.
A half-clothed Adam and a freshly-showered Skye discussed the possibility of Victor tracking them down. Skye encouraged Adam to keep focused, because they were "so close to the biggest score of their lives." She pulled him into a steamy kiss. They were interrupted by his ringing cell phone. It was a judge returning his call, who agreed to meet with Adam at the hotel. After showering and dressing in a fresh suit, Adam was ready to meet with the judge. Skye produced a thick envelope and lamented that it meant cutting into their winnings, but acknowledged that it ensured Adam would never be extradited if Victor found him. "I'm not as worried about that, as I am worried about how easy it would be to kill a man who is legally dead," Adam disclosed. Skye produced his wedding band that she had found in a drawer. "Are you wasting your time pining away for Blondie?" she teased. Adam explained that he had truly loved Sharon; that she was different from any other woman he had ever known. Skye encouraged him to leave the past in the past, and focus on the con that they were about to embark on. She reminded him that if they played their cards right, they could walk away with millions before Victor had a chance to track them down. Adam chucked the ring out the window, and agreed to look to the future. Skye smiled victoriously. Adam left to go meet the judge, but once outside the hotel room door, pulled the ring out of his pocket. He paused in the hallway, thinking about Sharon. Simultaneously, Sharon sat on the veranda at the ranch, rocking Faith, thinking out loud about starting a whole new life for herself.
Mac and J.T. arrived at the Club to meet Michael to discuss Cane's lawsuit. Mac was sorry that their date had been ruined, but J.T. understood. Cane followed them there to persuade Mac to change her mind, to no avail. Michael arrived and took a look at the subpoena. Michael announced that Cane would never win. "It doesn't need to be like this!" Cane cried. "As long as I'm carrying these babies," Mac said definitively, "It does."
Back at Neil's apartment, Neil tried desperately to get a hold of Olivia. He finally reached her, and asked for the truth about the status of Lily's treatment. He hung up the phone sadly, announcing that the treatment was failing and that there were no other trials available for another year. Devon suggested perhaps Cane was right. "I want her to live!" he pronounced. Neil said he wanted the same, but didn't want to go against his daughter's wishes. Devon wondered if Neil was ready to just sit back and let Lily go ... especially after they had already lost Dru. Neil dialed Olivia again and asked if there was anything else the doctors in France could do for Lily. Upon learning that nothing else could be done, Neil instructed Olivia to send Lily home.
Thursday
Jack, Emily and Paul ran into Michael and Lauren at the GCAC and they all had dinner. Michael shared copies of the prescriptions written on Emily's pad, proving she was in the hospital when it happened. She should get her medical license back soon, but it would help to find the person who wrote the prescriptions. Emily studied the forged prescriptions and recognized the handwriting as her brother Jamie's. "This is my fault," rued Jack, saying he invited Jamie to town. Paul recalled that Patty said "brother" when he asked about the pad, and surmised that Patty gave Jamie the pad to get rid of him. Emily hopes Jamie is alive so she can kill him. Paul agreed to find Jamie. Lauren excused herself from the table. Paul followed, saying he owes her an apology for not keeping a better eye on her the night of the ball when she was drugged and kidnapped. Lauren told Paul not to worry about it and they hugged it out. Michael and Lauren excused themselves from dinner for a private after-dinner drink. Jack apologized to Emily for bringing Jamie into their lives. Emily accepted, saying she knows Jack was just trying to help her.
Adam and Skye patted themselves on the back in Brazil after winning a ton of cash in the casino. She came on to him, but he demurred. Skye reminded Adam that he will never win Sharon back. Skye and Adam are dead -- and they are doing pretty well for dead people.
Phyllis showed Sharon around Amber's old penthouse, discussing the possibility of Sharon renting it. Gloria and Jeffrey entered, demanding to know what Phyllis and Sharon were doing in "their" apt. "It's not theirs anymore," retorted Phyllis, picking up an unopened eviction notice lying on the coffee table. Gloria suggested fighting the eviction, but Jeffrey didn't think the "We don't open our mail defense" was going to fly. Gloria and Jeffrey agreed to move to the GCAC until they figure out their next move. They drank martinis at the GCAC bar after a scuffle involving their bad credit. Jeffrey called in a favor with a club honcho to get them a room. Gloria was sick of being the "loser couple" that gets kicked out of places. "What do the Newmans and Abbotts have that we don't have?" "A decent FICO score," responded Jeffrey. He cajoled her into a good mood and they discussed playing a racy hotel game that involved Gloria calling him "Mr. Big."
Victor phoned Nikki and Nick on a payphone to relate that Skye Lockhart is not dead. Apparently, the body they found in the stables wasn't hers. Nick promised to look into Skye's whereabouts and call Victor back on his cell phone. Don't bother -- Victor's cell phone was stolen. Victor hung up and went back into the bar. Meggie hid him when Shaw came back looking for his wallet. "Looking for this?" sneered Victor, walking out with a wad of his own stolen cash. They exchanged words, with Victor offering to forget the robbery in return for information about Adam. Shaw said no way, so Victor knocked him out. "You should have taken the deal, son," pronounced Victor. Shaw woke up tied to a chair. Victor showed him a picture of Skye and asked if she was the one who instructed Shaw where to take Adam. "Go to hell," spit Shaw. He tried to stand, but was chained to a cement block. Victor opened a trap door under the old bar, saying it led right to the icy river. "It would be a shame if you fell into it with a concrete block chained to your feet," said Victor. Shaw caved, saying the lady in the picture gave him 10 grand to take Adam to a boat. Shaw had no idea where they were going, but the people on the boat spoke Portuguese. Victor emerged from the bar, telling Meggie to stay out of sight so Shaw doesn't know she helped him. Victor told her he was going to leave with Shaw to find the home port and route of Adam's freighter. Victor thanked Meggie for her help and asked if he could do anything to repay her. Yes, she flirted. Come back so we can have a little fun. Victor responded that Meggie is beautiful, but he has a woman back home named Nikki. Nikki wouldn't know if he cheated, but Victor would know. ‘Nikki is a lucky woman," smiled Meggie. "Take care of yourself, cowboy." Victor went back inside the bar and untied Shaw. "You make one false move, son, and I'm going to get you." They headed out.
Nikki and Nick figured out that Adam might have used the pilot Russ's cell phone. Russ came over. Nikki and Nick showed Russ an envelope of cash and asked to see his phone. He complied. On April 1, there was a call to an international number. Russ took the money and scampered out. Nick called the number. Skye answered. Nick pretended to be looking for a guy named Milo. Wrong number, responded Skye, hanging up. Nick told Nikki he spoke to a woman with an American accent and heard a man in the background. Nikki asked Chance to investigate. He traced the call to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Nick took off to find Adam, against Nikki's wishes. Nikki called someone asking for help stopping her son from making a big mistake.
A frantic Adam started packing. Skye argued that they have fake names and passports, and he needs to stop worrying about the phone call -- it was just some "Joe Blow" who dialed wrong! Adam wouldn't budge. "We've got to get the hell out of here tonight," he asserted.
Phyllis and Sharon went to Crimson Lights, where Phyllis continued the hard sell to get Sharon to rent the penthouse.
Friday
Chloe flashed her new engagement ring around Crimson Lights, to Chance and Kevin's amusement. Chloe was not pleased that Chance will be spending so much time with Heather. "Do you trust me?" asked an exasperated Chance. Heather joined them, acknowledging the imposition. Chance and Heather left.
Across the coffee house, Jana handed Kevin her key and told him she is moving out of their apartment. Kevin thought it might trigger some memories to stay, but Jana is moving to the GCAC. Kevin got upset that Ryder lives there too, and asked if they are dating. Jana said no.
Chloe joined Kevin and they commiserated about their troubles with Chance and Jana. Chloe said she trusts Chance, but does not trust Heather. Kevin shared that Jana is moving out to spend time with "her new BFF -- my brother who kidnapped her." Chance and Heather returned. Chloe suggested Heather move into the Chancellor Mansion so that Chance can keep an eye on her and still be with family. Heather declined. Heather and Chance went back to her apartment. Chloe and Kevin consoled each other by going to the movies.
Jana knocked on Ryder's door with a bottle of wine. "Want some company?" They drank and talked about redemption. Ryder returned the book Jana gave him on spiritual enlightenment. Jana lamented being so cold and unfeeling. Ryder said her forgiveness proves she is neither of those things. They kissed. Things got serious, but Ryder withdrew. "I want this," said Jana, pulling him to the bed.
Heather donned her pajamas as Chance worked on his computer. She confided she grew up in an abusive home and appreciates him being there to protect her. Heather climbed in bed. Chance drew a curtain and sat down on the other side.
Nikki updated Jack on Skye being alive, and Nick's foolhardy plan to go find Victor. Jack assured Nikki he will stop Nick from leaving.
Nick and Phyllis argued about Nick going to find Victor in Canada to tell him Adam and Skye are in Brazil. Jack arrived to stop Nick, reminding Nick he is out on bail for murder. Jack said he will go find Victor, and the two of them will locate Adam in Brazil. Nick got mad and tried to leave. Chance and Heather arrived, demanding Nick's passport and driver's license. "Someday you'll thank me for this," said Jack, admitting he called the cops on Nick. Nick spit that he plans to sue the police for false arrest when the truth comes out.
In Brazil, Skye begged Adam to stop packing and relax. They decided to call the judge who has kept them out of trouble "so far" and pay him for more help. Skye took a shower and asked Adam to answer her phone if it rings, because it will be the judge.
Victor untied Shaw and ordered him to take him to the boat Adam used to escape. Once on the boat, Shaw demanded money. Shaw's hooligan friends showed up with a gun. Shaw shot a hole in the boat and left, leaving Victor there to drown. The boat started filling with water.
Jack showed up at Meggie's bar in Canada asking for Victor. She evaded his questions. Suddenly, Shaw and the hooligans burst in. "Set us up, Meggie," they sneered. "We are having a wake for an old friend!"
Sharon broke the news to Nikki that she is moving off the ranch to the penthouse apartment. "That's a terrible idea," argued Nikki, pointing out that with Adam on the loose, Sharon is in danger. Sharon said she'll get locks. Nikki got suspicious when Sharon said Nick would be better off if she left the ranch -- has Phyllis been putting these ideas in Sharon's head?
Sharon called Nick and asked him to come to the main house to discuss her move, to Phyllis's chagrin. Nick updated Sharon on Skye being alive with Adam in Brazil. Give her the phone, demanded Sharon. Why? "I need to hear his voice," she asserted. Nick hedged, then gave in. Sharon dialed. "Hello?" said Adam.
Nikki spoke to Phyllis about Sharon renting Phyllis's penthouse. Nikki understands Phyllis's needs to set parameters, but thinks her logic is flawed. Nikki is always around at the main house, whereas Sharon and Nick will be alone if he goes to see her at the penthouse. Phyllis stated that her plan is better -- it's time Sharon grew up.
