Monday
Billy ran into Mac at Crimson Lights. They both remembered that it was their non-wedding anniversary (since they had their marriage annulled). JT and Victoria argued over her decision to bring Reed to the police station when Nick was arrested. Victoria explained she had to do it because there was a family crisis. "There's always a family crisis with you," spit JT. "That's why I have full custody." They ran into Billy and Mac, who took Reed so mommy and daddy could argue some more. Vicky said she wants custody, but JT nailed her with lying to the stockholders, sleeping with Deacon, and not showing up at Reed's custody hearing because she was busy lying to the police about having sex with Billy. Vicky slapped JT. They dialed it down for the boy's sake, then Vicky said a tearful goodbye to Reed as JT took him away.
Billy and Mac disagreed about the way Victoria and JT were handling their divorce. What's it to you? each asked the other. Billy insisted he and Victoria are just friends. "You don't have friends," retorted Mac. "You have conquests and exes."
In the hospital corridor, Gloria updated Michael and Lauren on Jana being awake and talking. Kevin came running out of Jana's room: "We need a doctor!" Jana stared straight ahead and tried to piece things together. "Kevin Fisher… you own the coffee house…" The doctor said it was normal for there to be some disorientation. "She just had brain surgery," reminded Gloria. Jana confided to the doctor that she doesn't feel anything for anybody. The doctor described it as trouble with her cognitive ability. Kevin asked if there was hope for Jana to regain her emotional capabilities, but the doctor couldn't say. They agreed to call in a neurologist.
Jack apologized to Emily for not realizing Patty had drugged her and taken over her life. Patty forgave him. Paul called Jack's cell and told him to keep an eye on Emily until they find Patty. The doctor apologized to Patty for the hospital mix-up. Jack wanted Emily to be checked out by a doctor but Patty insisted no doctors — she's fine. Jack's eyebrow went up.
Meanwhile, the real Emily woke up in a coffin in the morgue with a Jane Doe toe tag. A man started a drill. "Okay, Jane, let's open you up and see how you died." Emily's brain screamed, "I'm not dead!"
Paul reviewed all the times Emily insisted she was not Patty. Heather urged Paul not to blame himself, but he pointed out that Heather was the only one who believed Emily enough to order a DNA test. They went to the hospital and told Jack and Patty that Patty had signed herself into the hospital, but not out. Patty looked surprised. Paul and Heather left to go make sure the whole place was on lockdown.
Jack trashed Patty to Patty, spitting, "I never loved her. Hell, I spent the night with Diane the night before I married her. If she had two brain cells she could use, she could figure that out for herself." He said Patty was no match for Emily in bed and the whole episode turned his stomach. Patty grew more and more agitated. "Stop!" she yelled. Patty defended her outburst by saying she just wanted to go home. Jack eyed her suspiciously.
JT and Mac took Reed home. JT lamented to Mac that Reed feels he did something wrong to make mommy go away. Mac counseled that they could still be a family with Reed even if they get divorced. JT said Mac was good for him and they kissed.
A dejected Victoria went home alone. Billy showed up with a cookie decorated with boxer shorts. "You thought eating your shorts would cheer me up?" she smiled. They shared a beer and agreed it's been a rotten year. Billy offered to blast JT in Restless Style or just beat the crap out of him, her choice. Vicky laughed, then sent Billy away, citing her bad mood.
"Karma?" said Lauren, "Is a bitch," responded Jana. Lauren was relieved to see Jana remembered their code to tell Lauren and Sarah apart. Jana recounted the events of their kidnapping in a zombie-like state. Lauren assured Jana the family would all help her through this. "I wish that meant something to me," Jana responded. Kevin assured Jana everything would be okay. "I have enough love for both of us," he said, taking her hand. She pulled away.
Paul and Heather entered the padded cell, saying the GCPD was doing a room-to-room search for Patty. Jack said it wouldn't be long until they found her — because THIS is Patty! "Say hello to your sister, Paul." Patty denied it. Jack smelled her hair. Patty tried to defend the peroxide smell as Patty having dyed Emily's hair. Jack pulled her sleeve up to reveal the cat scratch, reminding them all that Emily is allergic to cats. "Tell me where she is!" he demanded. Patty flipped out, saying Jack doesn't need Emily, he just needs her. "If you truly love me, tell me where Emily is," Jack begged. "She's gone," hissed Patty. Jack flew out of the room as Patty sobbed in Paul's arms. Paul pleaded with Patty to tell him what she did to Emily. Patty asked Paul to help her leave town because she doesn't want to see Jack get mad. "Why would Jack be mad at you?" asked an upset Paul. Heather looked on, disturbed.
The man in the morgue approached Emily with the drill. Jack burst in. "NO!" he screamed. "You know this woman?" asked the man. "She's my wife," Jack sobbed. He knelt next to her, apologizing over and over. Suddenly, Jack noticed a tear in Emily's eye, and felt her neck. "She's crying — she has a pulse. She's alive!"
Tuesday
"Emily, can you hear me?" Jack asked Emily as she lay still in the morgue. "Adrenaline," she mouthed. The morgue technician ran out and returned with a shot, then went to get the paramedics. Emily stirred. "You finally came," she whispered to a relieved Jack.
Patty begged Paul to help her leave town. He explained that she needs to be somewhere where people can take care of her. "There's another way for me to leave," Patty said, pulling a syringe out from under the bed sheet and holding it to her neck. "Give me the syringe," said Paul, as Heather snuck out to get help. Paul talked of their childhood clubhouse, and promised he'll always take care of her. "I love you," he cried. "I've caused too much pain. It's better this way," Patty replied, moving the needle to her heart where one puncture would end it all. The alarm sounded as Paul told Patty to ask forgiveness instead of killing herself. "Don't turn your back on your faith," he pleaded.
Victoria stared at Reed's Mother's Day card, flashing back to her argument with JT about custody of their son. Her phone rang; it was an update on the custody hearing set for tomorrow.
Mac and JT discussed their kiss. Each told the other they'd be crazy to be interested. JT cited his ugly divorce, while Mac called herself a "walking incubator." Flustered, Mac went to leave but walked into the closet. JT helped her out.
Lily's Aunt Liv dropped by with news of a clinical trial she got Lily into using stem cells to fight cancer. Cane urged his ailing wife to do it because it could make her strong enough to go through another round of chemo. Cane left. Lily thanked her aunt for fighting to get her into the program — and giving her hope. But Lily added that she was worried about danger to the babies from extracting the stem cells.
Victoria went to JT's to discuss the custody hearing. She apologized for their argument, and said things need to change — what happened to keeping things civil? Vicky proposed a pact where they put Reed first. JT went through the litany of Newman crimes, and pointed out that Vicky "grew up with this craziness — I didn't." JT asked Vicky to let him know of anything that might happen to affect Reed. She agreed. Later, JT and Vicky checked on a sleeping Reed as Mac let herself in to JT's apt. Vicky was shocked to learn Mac has a key. "What the hell is going on?" asked Vicky. JT explained Mac watches Reed at night, but Vicky accused them of dating and letting Mac "play mommy" to her son. "Ill see you in court," spit Vick before storming out.
Cane shared the good news of the clinical trial with Mac. He said they need stem cells from the babies, which alarmed her. Cane brought Mac over to Lily's so Livia could explain the procedure, Liv said it's like amniocentesis and the odds of something going wrong are 1 in 200. "So by trying to save Lily's life we could lose the babies," rued Mac. Liv assured that the procedure was safe, but Mac explained she had a miscarriage once before and it was devastating. Mac said she needs time to think and exited. Liv repeated that it was a calculated risk worth taking and time is running out. Liv left. Cane and Lily weighed the pros and cons.
Jack wheeled Emily down the hall, where they ran into Heather. She informed them Patty was threatening to take her life. Emily insisted on seeing Patty, so Jack helped Emily into Patty‘s room. "You're not…?" said Patty. "Your plan didn't work," responded Emily. "I'm still alive." Patty kept the syringe on her heart as Emily, Jack, Heather and Paul tried to talk her down. "You never loved me," screamed Patty to Jack. "You loved everyone else — Diane, Phyllis, Sharon and now you (Emily)." Emily said the last thing she wants is for Patty to die. "You don't want payback?" asked Patty incredulously. Emily turned the tables and asked Patty's forgiveness - for getting engaged to Jack and betraying her trust. "You have an illness," explained Emily. Patty dropped the syringe and Paul hugged her. Emily collapsed in Jack's arms.
Heather comforted Paul and told him Patty was being moved to solitary confinement at the jail until they decide where to move her permanently. They said goodbye to Patty, who had reverted back to a childlike state. "I finished my homework," she smiled. "Time to go," said Paul.
Jack kept vigil by Emily's bedside. Emily pointed out that the fact that Jack didn't realize Patty had replaced her speaks volumes about how little they knew each other before getting engaged. "Why don't we talk about this when you come home?" downplayed Jack. "I'm not coming home, responded Emily.
Wednesday
Phyllis came to visit Daniel at his apartment, and found her son packing up Amber's things. Phyllis was putting Amber down when Tawny burst in. "Hey!" she bellowed. "Nobody talks about my little girl that way!" Daniel introduced his mother to Amber's mother, who giggled after realizing that Phyllis wasn't a "cougar hitting on her son-in-law." After exchanging barbs, Tawny demanded that Eric be turned over to her so that they could return to California. When Daniel refused to disclose Eric's whereabouts, Tawny began bragging that Deacon had been sending her "big fat checks" to take care of the boy. After Tawny taunted Daniel about being broke and his lack of career, Phyllis threatened to call the police. Tawny left, and Phyllis admitted to Daniel that after meeting her mother, she realized that Amber wasn't so bad after all.
At the GCAC, Tucker found Jill dining alone. He asked her to have a drink with him. She responded by saying that she was good at "dumping losers and never looking back."
Cane and Lily continued to be at odds about the stem cell procedure. Lily was reluctant to put the babies at risk, but Cane insisted that it was the right thing to do. There was a knock at the door, and Lily was furious to learn that her husband had invited her family over to "discuss her options." Neil, Malcolm and Olivia entered. Lily was disappointed when Olivia spilled the beans about the procedure, though Neil and Malcolm were excited to hear the details about it. Lily cut them off, saying that she had already decided against it. Malcolm immediately attempted to change her mind, but she was steadfast in her decision. Despite her father's and uncle's arguments, Lily refused to risk the lives of her twins. Finally, Neil pulled Lily into a hug and told her that he understood her decision. Malcolm, however, was livid that Lily wouldn't do everything she could to save herself. Malcolm began shouting at Lily, and Neil wouldn't stand for it. He and Malcolm almost came to blows and had to be separated. Jill burst in as the men were leaving. After hearing everything about the procedure, a tearful Jill pleaded with Olivia to tell her what she thought Lily should do. Pausing, Olivia eventually stated her opinion: that Lily should participate in the trial and go ahead with the treatment. Jill assured Lily that no matter what decision she made, she and the whole family would be behind her.
Outside the front door, Neil and Malcolm continued to argue. Malcolm claimed that although he had been a horrible father in the past, he truly cared about his daughter now. Neil wouldn't accept that, and the argument became physical. Malcolm shoved Neil against door with a bang, which caused everyone to come running out. Olivia begged them to stop fighting, for Lily's sake. Malcolm agreed to leave, and went to the Club for a drink. There, he encountered Tucker. Malcolm informed Tucker that he was through "playing spy games" for him.
Nikki and Victor arrived at Victoria's house to give her a pep talk before the custody appeal hearing. Nikki assured her daughter that she would be reunited with her son that very night. Victor excused himself to take a phone call. He was dismayed to hear that his judge friend had reassigned the custody case. Without letting on that anything was amiss, Victor claimed he had a meeting and left. Alone with Nikki, Victoria lamented the end of her marriage. She came to the conclusion that J.T. had sacrificed everything for her; that taking orders from Victor for years had worn him down. Victoria became weepy as she mourned the end of her marriage. Nikki suggested that after all the anger faded, perhaps she and J.T. could find their way back to each other. Victoria wasn't so sure, but Nikki comforted her, saying that no matter what happened, she would find her own path in life.
At J.T.'s apartment, Reed wondered when he would see his mommy again. After comforting his son, J.T. received a call from the nanny, who was calling in sick. Frustrated, J.T. had to scramble for child care. He resorted to bringing Reed with him to the GCAC for a meeting with Tucker. He was taken aback when his boss asked him to gather information about Newman. J.T. agreed to think about spying on his wife's company. As the meeting wrapped up, J.T. panicked when he couldn't find Reed. After searching everywhere and alerting security, he was relieved to see Victor approaching holding the boy. J.T. grabbed him and rushed out to the custody hearing. Victor smirked as he walked away, happy with himself for delaying J.T. Tucker, piecing things together, dialed the courthouse.
In the courtroom, J.T. dashed in with Reed just as the judge was going to rule against him in his absence. Nikki grabbed Reed and took him outside. The judge announced that she knew the reason that J.T. was late, and admonished Victor for playing dirty. Saying that Reed should be protected from this sort of Newman behavior, the judge denied Victoria's bid for joint custody. Victoria's eyes filled with tears. Everyone began leaving, and a shaken Victoria cried to J.T. that it wasn't fair to be kept from her son. Reed came running in, and Victoria scooped him up and hugged him tight. She sobbed as she told him that she couldn't be with him.
Nikki called Victor, who was still at the Club. "What did you do?" she shrieked. She informed him that the judge had awarded custody to J.T. due to Victor's interference. Victor pledged to fight the ruling. He turned to Tucker, who was sitting at the bar, and told him that there was a "special place in hell" for people who dared to cross him. A smug Tucker responded that J.T. was like a son to him, and that he would never let anyone mess with him.
Thursday
Sharon lamented to Billy at Crimson Lights that Nick had just started to bond with Faith when he was arrested again. Billy thought that would make a good story. "If you print one word about my daughter or Nick, you'll be joining Adam," huffed Sharon. Billy joined Chloe and Delia who were waiting for Chance. Heather walked by and Billy asked for an interview about Patty for Restless Style. Heather declined.
Paul fretted to Heather that the authorities won't let him see Patty. Heather said the DA wants jail time for Patty because he let her go to the loony bin last time and look what happened. Paul said his sister won't survive prison.
Phyllis and Nick had a strategy session with Michael about how to exonerate Nick for Adam's murder. Phyllis pointed out that the authorities didn't find the cell phone in the initial sweep of the area, which means someone came in and planted it. Sharon interrupted with pictures of Faith for Nick. Phyllis rolled her eyes at Michael. They discussed how Adam had to have an accomplice and realized it was Patty posing as Emily. "She was in the basement that night," Nick recalled. "I saw her." All agreed Patty could have killed Adam.
Chance ran into a shackled Patty at the courthouse and tried to question her again about Adam's murder. He flashed back to their previous Q&A when he thought she was Emily. Patty recited a nonsensical nursery rhyme about kittens instead of answering him. Paul showed up. Patty asked him to take care of her cat and keep her out of prison.
Victoria blamed Victor for losing custody of Reed. "This is not some business deal gone sour. I've lost my son." Her dad promised to fix it, but Victoria said no thanks. She wished she could just have a normal family. Victor pronounced there is no such thing.
Heather told DA Pomerantz that her Aunt Patty is not competent and will never survive prison. Paul testified that it would be cruel and inhumane to deprive Patty of the care she needs. Heather argued that Patty was not fit to stand trial as Patty made paper dolls. The judge slammed them, saying Patty was the victimizer here, not a fragile innocent. The DA recited Patty's crimes but agreed Patty could be remanded to a maximum security prison for the criminally insane. The judge argued: Who will stand up for Patty's victims?
Billy called Victoria from the health club for an update on the hearing. Vicky relayed the bad news of Victor's "stupid stunt" and how she lost custody of Reed. She hung up to answer the door and receive her final divorce decree from JT. Billy ran into Victor as Victor angrily punched the bag. "What do you want?" demanded Victor. Billy took his life in his hands by saying Victor cost Victoria her son. Victor told his second least-favorite Abbott to MYOB. "I'm not one of your kids. You can't push me around. Would you like to hit me?" asked Billy. Victor hit him. Billy threatened to hit Victor back at a later date. Victor looks forward to that.
Michael jumped up and said they had better move fast before Patty is sent to a psychiatric facility and can't be questioned for Adam's murder. Michael, Sharon and Phyllis ran out. Victor visited Nick, lamenting how sorry he was that he didn't realize how disturbed Patty was. Nick asked how the hearing went and Victor hedged that "circumstances" cost Vicky her son. Victor vowed to get Vicky her son back and Nick out of prison.
Billy popped in to check on Victoria. She noted his black eye and he said he "ran into a door." Billy comforted her by saying she and JT will always share Reed. Vicky pressed him on his eye and he admitted Victor decked him. Vicky put ice on it to make him feel better and wished she could just take off. "Let's do it," urged Billy.
Michael, Sharon and Phyllis got to the courtroom as Patty, Heather and Paul were walking out. Patty said she had nothing to say to Phyllis. "Sarah should have killed you like she was supposed to," spit Patty. Wha-at? asked Phyllis. Patty shared the details of Sarah's murder plan with them all, including how Sarah gave her a gun. Sharon asked if Patty helped Adam escape. Patty confessed she helped Adam in exchange for Adam getting Jack back for her. Michael pressed for more details. Paul stepped in, saying that babbling Patty wasn't up to any more questioning. Sharon and Phyllis agreed they have to get info from Patty before she is transferred. "I think I know someone Patty will talk to…" mused Phyllis.
Chance apologized to Chloe for being late to meet her at Crimson Lights. Chloe is tired of coming in second. Heather entered and shared the news of Patty's incarceration at the mental hospital with Chance. Chance left, leaving Heather and Chloe alone.
Victoria and Billy turned up at the airport sans luggage looking for the next flight out. Detroit… Cincinnati… Jamaica!
Friday
"Are we going to the lake?" Patty asked Paul. Um, no, the hospital. She babbled on about swimming as Paul excused himself from the jail room to check on her transfer. Chance informed Paul her transfer is on hold since Patty is now a suspect in Adam's murder. Paul vowed to get Patty the help she needs and not allow them to railroad her.
Phyllis and Sharon shared the info they gleaned from Patty about Sarah's murder plot with Lauren. They asked her to impersonate Sarah and visit Patty before the lunatic gets transferred. Heather stopped them at the jail, pointing out Patty is deranged and her attorney isn't there in case she incriminates herself. But then, putting her former DA's office hat on, Heather let Lauren in. "What are you doing here?" asked Patty. "You've been a very bad girl," admonished Lauren, imitating Sarah's voice. Lauren tricked Patty into admitting she did something to Adam and asked her to elaborate, as Phyllis, Sharon, Heather and Chance watched on the monitor.
Tired of waiting for Chance at Crimson Lights, Chloe burst in to the closed-circuit TV room with Chance's dinner. Phyllis rolled her eyes and asked her to be quiet. Then, Paul stormed in and stopped the proceedings. Chance escorted Chloe out of the closed-circuit room and explained again that this is his job and she needs to go. Heather interrupted saying Paul was ready.
Mac and JT discussed his victory in Reed's custody hearing. JT shared that he is now officially divorced from Victoria. Mac suggested they grab Reed and escape their troubles for the night. All three had a fun time eating popcorn at the drive-in. Reed fell asleep in the backseat. Mac and JT made out in the front seat.
Billy and Victoria surfaced in Jamaica wearing tacky t-shirts. She fretted over the mistake they made running off to Jamaica without luggage and pointed out that the sequins on her "I heart Jamaica" shirt weren't her. "I'm not blingy," Vicky explained. She saw a lizard and screamed. Billy called her Debbie Downer and urged her to go with the flow.
Heather argued that the sweet Patty they used to know would want to help Nicholas Newman beat a murder rap if she could. Paul entered Patty's jail room and picked up on Lauren's questioning, asking Patty if she helped Adam get out of the hospital. Yes - but that wasn't the last time she saw him. She explained how Adam blackmailed her into getting him a costume for the ball, a cell phone and a syringe full of drugs. She added that Adam asked her to get Jack's handkerchief for him at the ball, so she did. Paul pressed if anything else happened in the basement, but Patty said no. Bull, said Sharon and Phyllis watching on the monitor. She had motive and opportunity!
Victoria and Billy hit the beach and ran into a Jamaican wedding party. The bride and groom talked about how important it is for their families to like each other - do Vicky and Billy's families like each other? Vicky choked on her drink. The two regaled the wedding party with the story of their courtship around a bonfire, getting drunk and eating rum cake. "She wants me," bragged Billy. "Do I know you?" retorted Vicky. He dragged her off for a swim in their clothes and they did the limbo.
Paul promised to visit Patty at the hospital as transport arrived to take her away. A disturbed Lauren excused herself and said she had to go home. Sharon and Phyllis confronted Chance about the new evidence, asking him to release Nick. He refused. Nick's wives set out to find Adam's cell phone records.
Dejected, Chloe sat alone at a bar, leaving a come-hither message for Billy. In Jamaica, a drunken Billy and Victoria promised to love, honor and cherish each other on the beach. "I now pronounce you man and wife," said the Jamaican officiant. "Kiss your bride!" ordered Vicky as the wedding party applauded. The new Mr. and Mrs. Billy Abbott kissed.
