Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of May 24, 2010

Monday

Lauren freaked at the sight of Ryder in Crimson Lights. Kevin said Ryder came back to turn himself in. Lauren screamed some more, then Jana weighed in that Ryder helped them in the cage. Michael held Lauren back as Kevin called the police. Chance arrived to arrest him and take him away. Kevin remarked to Jana that he felt bad not forgiving Ryder when so many people have forgiven Kevin. Jana tried to beg off their date, but Kevin said no.

Ashley told Abby to come home so they could talk. Abby was too busy filming herself at a local jewelry store shopping for gems. "I am an Abbott and a Newman and I always get what I want," she told the camera as she picked out the most expensive diamond necklace. "I'll take it," she purred to the salesman.

Nick came home from prison and shared a warm reunion with Summer and Faith. Victor arrived to report on his trip to Kansas: Adam was lying — he was never there. Nick updated his dad on Frank Ellis's attack, saying Frank pointed the finger at Victor as to why he did it. What did you do, Dad? "All right I'm guilty," said Victor, admitting he bribed Frank to attack Nick so they'd release him. "I did this to make sure you'd be safe."

Phyllis stared at the MISSING poster and tried to place the face. "Oh my God," she exclaimed. "This was the man who was at the ball the night Adam was murdered!" The date he went missing was April 1, the same night as the ball. Phyllis recalled mistaking the man for Adam that night, so maybe he was recruited to make them all think he WAS Adam. Maybe the plan went wrong. Maybe this man killed Adam!

Victor and Ashley told Abby that her reality show is off the table. Abby said she is entitled to her trust fund from Brad and Colleen, no matter how she spends it. Victor suggested Abby join the local TV station and do entertainment reports. Ashley thought she might make a good spokesperson for Glow by Jabot. Abby responded that her ambitions are higher. Victor decreed that it is their job to make sure Abby doesn't do something she regrets. Victor's phone rang — it was his accountant reporting Abby just charged a necklace at the local jewelry store for $85,000. Mom and Dad exploded. That little stunt proves Abby is not ready to handle responsibility! They demanded her credit cards, ordered her to return the necklace, and said all discussion of her trust fund was now on hold. The only reality show Abby will be on is one about a girl with no access to daddy's funds, boomed Victor.

At the jail, Chance questioned Ryder about Daisy's whereabouts. Ryder has no idea where she is. Michael and Lauren arrived so she could taunt him. "Now you're the one in the cage," sneered Lauren. Why did Ryder run? Kevin told him to. "Kevin?" responded a surprised Michael. Ryder added that he changed his mind on the road, and decided he had to pay for what he had done so he ditched Daisy. He also confessed to Lauren that he is glad she killed Sarah. This is the most free he has ever been. Thanks, Lauren.

Phyllis was thrilled to find Nick home when she got there. Sharon popped over to show Nick the MISSING poster and explain their theory that he was Adam's accomplice. They shared their theory with Chance who said he'd look into this mysterious "Mr. Hightower."

Kevin and Jana went to the GCAC for their date, because Kevin said it was the last place they were together before she was kidnapped. He tried to spark her feelings by recalling things they have done together, but she was cold as ice. Jana knows he's disappointed in her. Kevin said he just can't understand how she could be so unfazed by seeing her kidnapper. Jana excused herself and ended the date.

Back home, Michael asked Lauren if seeing Ryder behind bars made her feel better. Not really - she needs a sedative. Lauren also wants to take time off from the boutique and stay home because Daisy is still out there. Michael held her as she freaked out.

Chance reported back to Nick and his wives that Mr. Hightower is a mechanic who recently took time off due to "illness." His family just received a letter from him postmarked Miami saying he was never coming back. Chance declared Mr. Hightower an official person of interest. Nick vowed to track him down.

A dejected Kevin returned to Crimson Lights. Jana went to Ryder's jail cell and told him she sympathizes with him. He feels no connection to his sister and she knows what that is like. Jana feels lost, too.

Kent sat alone at a table when a box was delivered - it was the diamond necklace from Abby as payment for the reality show. Abby turned up to declare her seriousness about their project, and promised more money would be delivered soon.

Back at the ranch, Victor and Ashley received legal papers saying they were being sued by Abby for release of her funds.

Tuesday

Lily finished packing for Paris and reiterated to Cane that she would not do the risky treatment at home that might harm the babies. Cane exited; Liv entered.

Malcolm told Devon he planned to put him through "photography boot camp" while Devon worked for him and tried to make a go of his music. Neil approached, saying he preferred Devon take a more secure job than the music business. The brothers had words. Devon told them both he has made up his mind. Lily phoned Neil and asked him to come over with Devon. (NOT Malcolm, as Neil delighted in pointing out.) Father and son left. Cane ran into Malcolm and updated him on Lily's Paris plans. He also confided his plans to sue Mac for the babies' amniotic fluid if the treatment does not go well. Malcolm is "completely on board" and joined Cane for the meeting with the lawyer. The lawyer was encouraging about their chances. Cane wrote her a check and said he'll do anything to save his wife — even if it means she will end up hating him.

Chloe and Chance entered the GCAC where he had set up the surprise of breakfast in bed. As they headed upstairs, the DA asked to talk to Chance. Chloe went on ahead to the room worried Chance would ditch her again, but he got away from the DA and joined her to "take it to the mattresses." They had sex, then discussed his desire to solve Adam's murder case. "The butler did it," Chloe offered helpfully.

Paul updated Heather on Patty's condition, saying he feels guilty for failing both Patty and Emily. The DA stopped by and gave Heather her ID badge back, saying she was reinstated at the DA‘s office, in part thanks to Chance's recommendation. "Don't make me regret this," he ordered. "Congratulations," beamed Paul.

Emily lamented to Jack that she is going through withdrawals from the drugs Patty gave her. She just wants to move forward. Jack hopes they can do that together. Paul and Heather approached to check on Emily. Emily thanked Heather for believing her and testing her DNA. Paul thanked Emily for saving Patty's life. She said she can't talk about Patty and excused herself.

Mac ran into Daniel and offered condolences on Amber leaving. She understands the pull of a mother's love now that she's pregnant. Lily called and asked Mac to come over to say goodbye. Daniel asked if he could join her.

Lily explained her plans to Neil and Devon. Devon offered to download music for the plane, while Neil pulled Liv aside and asked for more details.

Jack found Emily in her room, where she worried that she was being followed. Things in her room looked disturbed. Jack suggested calling the police, but Emily feared they wouldn't believe her. He then offered to move her back to the Abbott house because Patty, Adam, Sarah could all have a grudge against her. You set this up! fretted Emily. Jack denied it. A letter was later delivered to Emily saying her medical license might be revoked.

Lily made a heartfelt speech to the entire Winters clan, Cane, Mac and Daniel about how grateful she is for their support, and how much she knows they all love her. She wants to make sure they know that in case she doesn't come back. Cane asked her not to talk like that, as Daniel teared up. Lily told Devon how proud she is that he is graduating from college with a degree in music. She thanked Malcolm for the pics he has taken of her and is so proud to have him as her father. Neil was not pleased, but Lily reeled him in with a teary speech about what a great dad he has been, and how she knows he would trade places with her if he could. Lily thanked Mac for protecting her babies, as Cane and Malcolm eyed each other. Lily promised to hold the babies in her heart if she can never hold them in her arms. More tearful goodbyes. Cane walked Lily out. "Please come back to me, baby," he cried.

Chance and Chloe came down the stairs. Heather and Paul bounded over to thank Chance for recommending Heather be reinstated. Heather kissed Chance on the cheek, prompting an eye roll from Chloe.

Jack promised to help Emily in any way he can. Emily headed upstairs to her room as a man lurked under the stairs. He wheeled around...

Wednesday

At Restless Style, Jill made phone calls to old acquaintances at Chancellor in an attempt to dig up dirt on Tucker and the Newmans. Also there, Billy met with Rafe to discuss progress on his annulment. Rafe reported that the Jamaican legal system was difficult to navigate. He suggested staying married to "the missus."

Victoria was browsing in the bookstore when Reed came running up to hug her. She was happy to see her son, but her smile quickly faded as she spied Mac following behind him. "Oh, you're with Mac again," Victoria said sarcastically. After Reed went play at the train table, Victoria confronted Mac about her insinuation into her son's life. Mac insisted that she was just trying to accommodate J.T. "Oh, I bet you accommodate J.T. all the time," Victoria snarked. Mac insisted that they were just friends, and that Victoria shouldn't even care since she had already moved on with Billy. Victoria watched her son walk away with Mac and was overcome with sadness. Rafe appeared and distracted her. She was surprised to learn that Billy had hired him to work on their annulment. Rafe asked her to have her attorney contact him so that they could work together. Victoria hesitated, knowing she had not hired a lawyer.

At the GCAC, Tucker and J.T. met to discuss the progress on J.T.'s spying assignment. Tucker assured his protg' that he was the only man for the job. "Why do you think I brought you onto my team?" Tucker asked. J.T. bristled at the question. "Because I was a Newman," he said through clenched teeth. Tucker instructed him to "roll up his sleeves and get messy." J.T. was left with a lot to think about.

Katherine approached Daniel at the coffee shop. Kay said she had received an email from Amber, who was hopeful that Daniel would show up in California to join her one day. Daniel wondered why nobody could see the situation from his perspective: that being an insta-dad was not in his plan. Katherine responded that she understood his plight better than anyone because she had given up a child for adoption, rather than choosing to parent him. "I cannot say I have no regrets," she lamented. Daniel listened while Katherine made a case for him becoming a family with Amber and Eric. Daniel was reluctant because he wanted to be free to pursue his dreams. Katherine suggested that if Daniel was serious about never reuniting with Amber, he shouldn’t leave her hanging.

Victor and Ashley were still reeling after being served with Abby's lawsuit. They blamed themselves for spoiling her. They couldn't believe she was being so defiant and disrespectful. Victor mused that someone must have put her up to her recent antics. The former-marrieds wondered how they could reel their daughter in without alienating her ... and without giving her the money. Ashley suggested that the producer Abby was working with could be taking advantage of her.

Abby whined to Jack that her parents wouldn't release her trust funds. Jack was taken aback to learn that Abby wanted the money to produce a reality show. Abby pulled out marketing paperwork to show Jack how lucrative her project could be, and asked him to back her. "If this was a face cream," she enthused, "you'd be crazy not to make it!" Jack responded by saying that a face cream would not tear a family apart. Abby begged her uncle to invest in the new "It Girl," Abby Newman. Jack warned her that the media could be relentless and hurtful. Abby brushed it off. "Everyone will want to know how a scrappy heiress gets what she wants!" she said playfully. Jack reluctantly admitted that his niece possessed the "Abbott business instinct." Victor arrived and interrupted their conversation. He accused Jack of putting Abby up to suing for her trust funds. Victor warned his nemesis to stay away from his daughter, and not to back her project. Jack threatened to do just that.

At J.T.'s apartment, he came out to the living room and thanked Mac for waiting while he had put Reed down to bed. He confided in Mac his frustration about having to spy for Tucker. He explained that he owed his boss for pulling strings in the custody case. "He threatened you?! Tell him to go to hell!" Mac suggested. Mac compared Tucker to Victor, and J.T. had to agree. Mac was disappointed to learn that J.T. had already spied on Vicky. J.T. assured her that he wouldn't cross any lines. After a bit more discussion, Mac wondered if they were "dancing around" the real topic: their feelings for each other. J.T. wondered what her real feelings were, and she answered by pulling him into a steamy kiss. When things got hot and heavy, Mac tried to put on the brakes. J.T. asked her to stay, but she was embarrassed at how "huge" she was. "You're beautiful," J.T. assured her.

Victoria arrived at Billy's trailer to discuss their annulment situation. She learned that Billy had caught J.T. snooping through her laptop. More frustrating for her, though, was learning that J.T. had seen Billy making himself at home at Victoria's house. Vicky was concerned that people might find out about their secret marriage. She used that as an excuse for dragging her feet in hiring a lawyer. She claimed she couldn't use anyone who knew her family. She asked Billy cancel Rafe's involvement in the annulment, so that their secret would remain safe. Billy agreed, and placed the call. Rafe was not surprised to learn that Billy was calling off the annulment. During the phone call, Victoria began whispering into Billy's ear and taking off her clothes. Billy quickly hung up, and the two began kissing passionately. They took turns stripping each other down. Victoria smiled when he called her "Mrs. Abbott". The half-naked newlyweds tumbled onto the couch, unable to take their hands off each other.

At the GCAC bar, Jill arrived for a drink and found Ashley already sitting there. The two exchanged barbs until Katherine arrived. Tucker sauntered up and complimented the three lovely women. "Too bad I can only take one to dinner, though!" he announced jovially. Ashley took his arm and he led her to a table for two. Kay snickered at the jealousy on Jill's face. Alone, Tucker and Ashley discussed Jabot. Ashley was stunned to learn that his plans for the company included acquiring Newman's cosmetic division. "You just can't WAIT to go toe to toe with Victor, can you?" she asked. Tucker sheepishly acknowledged his love of the chase. Ashley suddenly became overwhelmed by all the stress in her life, and tried to end their date. Tucker refused to let it end that way, and changed course. He ordered some champagne so to help her relax.

Daniel was drinking alone at Jimmy's bar, when Abby arrived. He tried to leave, but she blocked his path. "I just want to have a drink without some twit in my face!" he protested. The two bantered back and forth about Abby's reality show, ending with Daniel calling her a "punch line". "Laugh this off!" she exclaimed, as she pulled him in for a kiss.

Thursday

Paul brought Richard Hightower's sister-in-law Sally to meet with Victor and Nick at the G.C.A.C. Sally, who also brought along her nephew Justin, worried why the boy's father is missing. Justin said that Adam saved his dad's life which surprised everyone, including Sally. She knew Richard was hospitalized in February but not why. Paul surmised, "Maybe Adam tried to help with the medical costs or paid for the treatment or whatever it was." Everyone was confused as to why Richard, a nice guy who has never been in trouble before, would kill Adam. "We're missing something," Nick deduced.... Phyllis and Sharon found out that Richard had bought a teddy bear (presumably for his son) on the night Adam died. Phyll wondered why a man who was supposedly about to commit a crime, would buy a toy.

After spending the night together, Billy prepared breakfast for himself and Victoria. She asked about the rumors of how many women he has slept with. Billy hedged, "Let's put it this way, it's more than a high school drill team and it's less than a Michael Bubl concert." Victoria checked her emails on Billy's laptop and was shocked to see he was sent a video of their wedding by someone at the ceremony. They watched the vid together and laughed over their drunken behavior but agreed they had fun.

At Crimson Lights, Daniel confided in Kevin that he kissed Abby and that it felt like he was cheating on Amber. Kev warned his pal that Abby "is a total train wreck" and advised Daniel to call Amber to see where they stand. Daniel said he wanted Amber back, but not with Eric. Daniel then called Amber and she reported that she’s following Deacon’s advice and enrolling Eric in private school in California so he can be safe. Now, Amber wanted to find a job in L.A. so she would be near Eric. Daniel asked if they could still save their marriage but she lamented that her priority is being a mom again. “Once I get settled in L.A., I'll call a lawyer and I'll have him start the divorce proceedings,” Amber sobbed and they said a final good-bye to each other.

Kent told Abby that he sold the necklace she gave him and that THE NAKED HEIRESS is "a go." So far, Kent reported, there has been some interest but they need more publicity. Abby suggested she get her uncle Billy to download her latest video on the Restless Style Web site and Kent loved the idea. Abby later offered Billy the footage of her arguing with her parents over her trust fund. She was surprised when Billy said, "I'm not interested." He explained that he didn't want to upset Ashley.

Jana showed up at jail and told Ryder that it would help her if she could continue to visit him. He asked why and she explained that he seems to have accepted "the new and not-so-improved me." Ryder hoped that Jana would return to her old self so Kevin could have his wife back but she wondered if she'll ever feel anything for her husband again. Kevin showed up to see how Ryder’s arraignment went and was surprised to find Jana. She explained that she felt appreciative of how Ryder treated her while she and Lauren were in captivity. Kevin was encouraged that Jana felt something.

Paul uncovered that Richard had contracted leukemia and Adam had donated bone marrow for a life-saving transplant.... Victoria and Billy realized they never deleted their wedding video from his laptop. Billy assured he would do so as soon as he got back to his office. Meanwhile, Abby logged onto her uncle’s computer so she could use his email address to send her show to the Restless Style on-line department to download and found the wedding video.

Friday

Phyllis and Nick were fooling around in bed when he stopped the action. "I can't shut my mind off," he explained. Nick ran through the evidence and wondered why Hightower would kill Adam if Adam saved his life. "A lot of questions and no answers," Nick mused. Phyllis ran through Adam's misdeeds and commented that they have to think in the same twisted way Adam did. She wondered if maybe Adam gave Hightower his bone marrow because he looked like him. Nick questioned if Adam's bone marrow was transplanted into Hightower, could that also mean Hightower had Adam's DNA? They pulled out the computer and went to work.

The GCAC manager gave Adam's mail to Sharon. She found a letter stating his bank account had been closed April 1.

Victor and Nikki debated Hightower's motives. Could Adam and Hightower have been related? asked Nikki. No, Victor explained. He checked out Hope's family tree. Sharon showed them the letter from Adam's bank, saying he withdrew a large sum of money on the night he was killed. Nick and Phyllis entered with the news that they think they have found Hightower - buried in Adam's grave! The body was burned beyond recognition, so the DNA test could have been done on the bone marrow, asserted Nick. "It's so perverted," remarked Phyllis, "it reeks of Adam." That means Adam is alive, rued Victor, and the entire family is in danger.

Jack accompanied Emily to the hearing re: her medical license. Emily pleaded her case, saying Patty stole her name and face. The panel responded that Emily brought her troubles on herself by engaging in a relationship with the man who brought on Patty's psychosis. It was unethical, they decreed. Jack spoke up for Emily, saying he pursued her relentlessly.

At Crimson Lights, Billy offered Victoria a ride to the launch party for Rafe's new law practice. She refused, citing concern about her reputation. Billy's concerned, too: He never wants to be seen with the same girl twice. Abby approached and remarked that the rumors of them dating must be true. No, stammered Vicky. Privately, Abby looked at the video on her phone of Billy and Victoria kissing in Jamaica and smiled.

Chance and Chloe ran into Heather at Rafe's party. Heather hugged Chance and offered him a drink. "You going to get his girlfriend a drink, too?" asked a threatened Chloe. Rafe introduced his boyfriend Tyler. Vicky and Billy entered separately. Victoria and Mac had words about Mac's relationship with JT. Billy flirted with all the girls, which did not amuse Victoria. Billy tried to sell Heather on how irresistible he is, but she didn't bite. "A goat in a bikini would turn you on," Heather retorted. Victoria smiled. Abby burst in with cameras: "You're all going to be on TV!" Billy threw the cameraman out, so Abby went to Plan B: the hidden camera in her purse. Abby asked Victoria for the money she needs for her reality show; Victoria wants no more family drama. Abby then asked Billy, who also refused. They made a bet that if Abby makes a go of her reality show, Billy has to put her on the cover of Restless Style. Abby then made a cryptic phone call to say both Vicky and Billy had refused to back her project, so it's game on.

Chloe told Abby she's impressed with her business savvy. Chloe observed Chance and Heather coming back in from outside and accused Heather of hitting on Chance. "Chill," ordered the exasperated cop. Chloe called Heather a "cow" and a catfight ensued. Billy pulled Chloe away and told her to knock it off. Chloe apologized to Chance, citing her difficult past with men. Chance forgave her, saying he can't wait to have make-up sex.

Mac and JT discussed their burgeoning relationship and agreed to take it slow. Vicky talked to JT about working out more generous visitation with Reed. JT said he worries about Vicky's judgment, but she assured him she'll do whatever it takes to see more of her son.

Heather admitted to Rafe that she is attracted to Chance, and asked if she has become a bitter single girl. "You tell me," responded Rafe.

Jack gave Emily a pep talk in the hall as they waited for the medical board's decision. The decision came in: Emily will be on a 12-month probation and if there are no more infractions, her record will be wiped clean. Emily and Jack embraced and went for a "celebratory cup of coffee." Their coffee was interrupted by two agents with badges: Emily was being placed under arrest for selling controlled substances.

Billy and Victoria shared a private moment at the party and she relayed the good news that JT has agreed to let her see more of Reed. JT also told Mac of their new agreement. Abby interrupted the party to propose a toast to the newlyweds: Billy and Victoria! Everyone scoffed until Abby whipped out her phone and showed them all the Jamaica wedding video. All were stunned - JT most of all.

On a faraway beach, a bearded man drank a beer and read a newspaper about Adam's murder. He lowered the paper to reveal his face: It was Adam!

What's your take on the reduction of AMC/OLTL episodes to two days a week?
