Y&R Week of October 13, 2008
Monday
At home, Lauren told Michael how proud she was of him for getting River out
on bail. Michael couldn't wait to share the good news with his father. The
Feds then arrived and informed them of River's escape from the hospital.
They concluded that River and Eden had planned it. One of the agents
handed Michael a note for him, which had been found in River's hospital bed.
Michael read the note, which said that River was going underground again. In
the note, River blamed Jeff for his having to disappear, which infuriated
Michael, who blasted Bardwell.... Meanwhile, Eden met with River on the
docks, but was alarmed to see that her dad injured his ankle. Luckily, Eden
had brought medical supplies, as well as food and water. Eden was prepared
to run away with him, but River urged her to stay with Michael and Lauren....
Jeffrey concluded that since Gloria helped River, this meant that she chose
her ex-husband over him. Jeff prepared to pack up and leave her. Glo accused
Jeff of being petty, but Bardwell believed that she still had feelings for
River. Later, when she spoke with River, she begged him not to go on the run.
Glo then met up with River, who urged Eden to go with her. River tried to flee
as the cop sirens sounded.... Michael paid Bardwell a visit and reamed out
his stepdad. Jeff denied doing anything to River. Michael threatened to make
Jeffrey pay.... Gloria brought Eden home to Lauren. Lauren pleaded with Eden
to tell them where River was, but she wouldn't talk. Later, they got a call
that River had been found — and he had a gun. Glo was devastated
when Jeffrey called her to say good-bye.... The cops surrounded River.
Michael arrived and implored them not to call backup. Michael was confident
that he could talk his father out.
At the Chancellor Estate, Esther served champagne to Jill, Katherine and
Billy — and a beer to Cane. Jill toasted to her sons building a friendship.
Soon, Sharon and Jack arrived at the celebration. Jack made polite small
talk with Jill about the scandal at Jabot; she replied that Cane was doing a
great job running the company, then got in a dig about Jack losing Restless
Style. He assured her that he'd land on his feet. Chloe joined them and
complained about having morning sickness. Sharon was sympathetic. Later, Kay
urged Billy and Cane to not let any rivalries get in the way of a
relationship and told a story from the Bible to make her point. She made
them promise to listen to her. After, Jack quizzed Cane about changes Cane
was making to Jabot. Later, Cane tucked Chloe in. She told him that he
didn't have to put on an act for her, but he was happy to help out his
unborn child's mother. Billy then joined Chloe and teased her about being
"knocked up" by his brother.... Jill was alarmed when Kay began going on
about how they had to wait for Phillip to come home before they served
dessert.
Adam thought back to the conversation he'd had with the forger about
"writing" Victor's diaries.... Heather stopped by the Newman Ranch and
introduced Nikki, Nick and Victoria to a pair of Feds who were investigating
Victor. Nikki pulled her kids into a huddle and suggested that they lead
them on a wild goose chase in their search for an MIA Victor. Nick wasn't
thrilled with this plan, but Nikki insisted that it was the only way to help
their father. They were furious when Adam showed up. He explained that he
needed to pick up files that he'd left. Before Adam left, Nick realized that
his brother was trying to take some of Victor's files and pulled them out of
his hand. Later, Nick again expressed his reservations about sending the
Feds on a wild goose chase, but Nikki was confident in her plan and filled
in Victoria on what she wanted them to do.... Heather wondered why Adam was
at the Newman Ranch. Adam replied that he was just trying to help her figure
out what Victor was doing in Mexico. Heather noted that he could get into
trouble for breaking in. Adam asked her to get him the letter that Victor
wrote to him.
When Sharon and Jack returned home, they were surprised to find Nick there.
He explained that he was dropping off a book for Noah and saying good-bye
before he left for New York. Jack was cordial toward Nick and thanked him
for rehiring Sharon at Newman.
Nikki admitted to Victoria that she still loves Victor.... Adam brought the
forger another writing sample of Victor's, as well as some of Victor's pens.
Tuesday
As the police surrounded an armed River, Michael found him inside the warehouse and tried to get his father to give himself up. River stated how tired he was of running. "You are not a criminal; you're innocent," Michael insisted, stating that be believed his father wasn't responsible for killing the man. Kevin wanted to go there to help out, but Lauren pleaded with him not to. Later, River finally gave himself up. Michael returned home to a very relieved Lauren.
At the Chancellor estate, Jill was alarmed when Katherine said she was waiting for Phillip to come home. Kay lied that she was influenced by Jana talking about séances and the possibility of the dead returning. After, Billy thanked Jill, Esther and Kay for their hospitality and left to go to Crimson Lights. Later, Jill asked Esther if she'd noticed anything "off" about Kay; Esther agreed that there seemed to be something wrong with her. Jill was upset with Kay for lying to her, but Esther argued that Kay's just a private person. Jill concluded that her mother was scared. Sure enough, Kay sat alone, looking upset.
At Crimson Lights, Lily searched for love online, as she and Colleen giggled about the on-screen names of the guys. Lily spied one post that caught her interest, but said she wasn't ready for a relationship. Later, Billy joined them and filled them in on his visit with his family. Lily became visibly uncomfortable when he mentioned Chloe and Cane; Billy quickly apologized. Soon, Chloe and Cane joined them and things became even more awkward. A pregnant Chloe made a big show out of feeling the baby kick.... Lily admitted to Cane that seeing him with Chloe hurt.... Billy reported to Chloe that he'd caught Cane and Lily kissing.
At Restless Style, Daniel quizzed Amber about "shacking up" with Billy.
Phyllis interrupted and demanded that Amber get her stuff out of Daniel's place. Phyllis wondered if Amber was distracting Daniel at work and offered to let his ex go. Phyll then praised Colleen and was happy Daniel was dating her.
Jana and Amber joined Kevin, who was freaking out over Michael's predicament. Amber lamented about her love life to Jana. After, Amber again called Loveline as "Marina." Phyllis and Daniel heard her on the radio, calling Phyllis a "psycho Mommy" and blaming Phyll for her and Daniel's breakup. Colleen turned on the radio and listened at the coffeehouse. Phyllis — a.k.a. "Red" — promptly called the show and went at it with Amber. Dr. Drew noted that the ladies seemed similar, which is perhaps why they dislike each other. Neither appreciated the analysis. Daniel then caught his mom on the phone and was furious. He — a.k.a. "Herv" — got on the phone, too, and the three of them argued.... Billy, Colleen, Kevin and Jana all listened with interest. Everyone was shocked when Daniel blurted out that he still loves "Marina."
At the Newman ranch, Nikki carefully packed a suitcase. As she did so, she had several memories of her life with Victor, including when he helped her deal with her addiction to pills and when he asked to marry her while she was in the hospital. When she came back to reality, she handed J.T. the suitcase; he stated that he knew what to do with it.
Wednesday
Karen and Neil enjoyed a meal at Indigo. Karen prodded him to discuss whatever was bothering him; he replied that he was concerned about Ana and Tyra because he hadn't been able to get in touch with them. Karen suggested that Tyra had feelings for Neil and was literally trying to run away from them. Just then, Tyra arrived, frantically searching for a missing Ana, who disappeared after getting off a train. She explained that they were on their way to Seattle, but Ana had insisted on getting off in Genoa City. Neil and Karen were prepared to help her, but a cop then brought Ana to her mom. Tyra told Ana that they're going home to Seattle. Devon also wanted them to stay in town, but Tyra wanted to head to the Northwest. Neil stated that they were a family and never a burden to him. He urged them to stay put. Tyra agreed to consider it. Karen didn't look pleased.
At Crimson Lights, Colleen complained to Lily about hearing Daniel announce his love for Amber on the radio, while Lily lamented seeing Cane and Chloe bond over their unborn child kicking. Lily refused to be destined to a life of self-pity.
Daniel called Kevin and insisted that despite what he said on Loveline, it didn't mean he and Amber were getting back together.... At Restless Style, Chloe was thrilled when Cane gave her a gift for the baby. After, Daniel arrived and Chloe chatted with him about the Amber situation. Daniel told her not to butt in, but Chloe pointed out that he was being wishy-washy by going back and forth between Amber and Colleen. "You're worse than a girl. Make up your mind, already!" she stated.
At the Chancellor estate, Jill questioned Katherine about saying that she was waiting for Phillip. Kay insisted that it was a joke, but Jill noted that it wasn't the first time Kay had had a "senior moment." They were interrupted when Amber arrived to see Kay. She filled her in on the Loveline drama. "If you want him, you'll get him," Kay assured her. "Get some brass!" Amber took her advice and left a message for Daniel, saying they needed to talk in person. She asked him to meet her at the penthouse.
Daniel listened to Amber's call and went to meet her. Before Amber headed out, Jill asked if she'd noticed anything "off" about Katherine. "Everything Mrs. C says makes sense — except for the people who don't want to hear it," Amber said pointedly. Kay overheard and was angry with Jill for questioning her friend. She accused Jill of trying to get her ousted from Chancellor Industries. Jill replied that she was genuinely worried about Kay's health. Katherine reported that she'd been to the doctor and his diagnosis was that she's not young anymore (!). Jill couldn't believe that that was his professional diagnosis.
Cane ran into Lily at Crimson Lights. She told him that she's going to New York to visit Olivia. Cane agreed that her taking a trip was a good idea. They then discussed their kiss in the elevator and he insisted that they couldn't do that again. Lily was upset over the idea that they were done for real. Later, Cane agreed to be Chloe's birthing coach. He actually joked with her about calling the baby "Little Booger."
Amber headed to the penthouse and put on some makeup before Daniel arrived.... Colleen searched for Daniel at the magazine, but he wasn't there.... Amber was nervous when Daniel showed up at the penthouse. "I'm here to tell you I love you," he said, and kissed her.
Thursday
Victoria fretted to her mother about their plan to mislead the authorities, but Nikki assured everything would go smoothly. J.T. was already at the destination and Nikki was ready to soon fly there to make it appear that she was sneaking off to be with Victor. Victoria wanted to tag along but Nikki insisted her daughter stay put and clue in Nick when he returned from his business trip. Nikki then recounted how J.T. used the company card to a book a hotel room in Rio under the name of Christian Miller, Victor's birth name. Also J.T. brought along Victor's razor, toothbrush and clothes so there would be "more than enough D.N.A. to prove your father was there." Meanwhile, in Rio, J.T. ordered all of Victor's favorites through room service then unpacked some of Victor's personal belongings (including sprinkling hair from Victor's hairbrush on the bed). He called Victoria to report that he was coming home soon and headed out of the hotel room.
Amber started to get hot and heavy with Daniel but he begged off. "I gotta make sure that everything's broken off with Colleen first," declared the noble one. For a reconciliation to happen, Daniel stipulated no lying or cheating, to which Amber happily agreed. Billy entered and caught them mid-smooch. After Daniel left, Amber confirmed that they were back together and Billy wished her well. Meanwhile, Daniel broke up with Colleen, who was obviously hurt. After, Billy met up with Colleen and they both predicted that Amber and Daniel (who were happily reuniting) wouldn't last.
Heather introduced Paul to an FBI agent and a counterpart from the Mexican Federal Investigation Agency. They were all interested in questioning Victor about Walter's death. "Victor Newman has disappeared without a trace,"
Heather explained to her dad. "We think his family knows where he is, though they refuse to cooperate. We would like you to speak to Nikki... convince her that it would be better for everyone if she cooperates with the authorities." Paul pointed out that Nikki and Victor haven't been on speaking terms since Sabrina's death, but Heather suspected otherwise.
Adam and Jack arrived at a tacky motel room where they would later meet Frank, the forger. Jack proceeded to tape record the words he wanted to be written as Victor's fake journal, detailing his trip to Mexico to kill Walter. Adam marveled at the dramatic words Jack came up with.
Tyra was determined to return to Seattle, no matter how much Neil insisted that he needed her to be his manager at Indigo. She agreed to stay one more night with Devon, then left with her nephew. Karen scolded Neil for not checking with her first before he issued the invitation to Tyra to live with them again. Neil apologized. After pleading from Devon and Ana, Tyra returned and accepted Neil's job offer. "Ana and I are going to move in with Devon and Lily until we can save enough money to get our own place," she announced. Karen didn't look that thrilled.
Paul went to the ranch to talk to Nikki and she suspected he was there as part of Heather's investigation. "You and the kids could end up with your own legal problems if you obstruct justice," he warned, but Nikki asked him to leave. As he departed, Paul noticed Nikki's suitcase but she covered that she was merely "moving some things into the house." Paul later met with Heather and confirmed that Nikki doesn't know anything. Meanwhile, a guilt-ridden Nikki vowed to Victoria that she will protect Victor for ruining his life with Sabrina. Nikki left the ranch, not knowing that she was being followed.
Friday
At Restless Style, Phyllis implored the photo staff to get some proofs to her as soon as possible. Nick joined her, having returned from his brief trip to New York. Phyllis informed him that Nikki left town; Nick told her that he'd invited Sharon to return to Newman as a spokesperson. She understood the need for helping to promote Beauty of Nature.
Meanwhile, Jack gave Sharon three "back to work" gifts. Sharon was touched by his support and embraced him. After she left for work, Jack called Adam so they could meet up. Adam got breakfast with Heather at Crimson Lights; Heather was confident that Victor would be found, especially with Paul's help. After, Jack and Adam met up to discuss getting Victor's forged diary published. Jack then recorded himself sounding like Victor and had "Victor" recall his murder of Walter. Wow, Jack was a good actor! He got Victor's speech patterns down cold.... Victor sat alone in the chateau that he'd purchased for Sabrina in Paris and recalled his life with her.
In Brazil, Nikki entered a hotel room (registered to Christian Miller) that was filled with Victor's stuff. She then ordered breakfast for two from room service. After, she was shocked when Paul arrived at the hotel room. When Paul asked her why she had men's suits in the room, Nikki lied that she'd met a new man. Paul didn't buy it and asked where Victor was. Nikki demanded that Paul leave, but he refused. She finally admitted that Victor had never been there and she didn't know where he was; she was just trying to lead authorities on a wild goose chase. She again asked Paul to leave and he obliged.... Nick expressed his concerns about Nikki's plans to Victoria. He feared that their mother was in over her head.
Sharon came to Restless Style to deliver a Beauty of Nature press pack to Phyllis. The ladies exchanged words over the nasty editor's letter that Phyllis wrote about Jack and Sharon. Sharon suggested they call a truce since she's now working with Nick, but wasn't sure Phyllis would be able to act like an adult. Phyll noted that Sharon constantly tries to goad her into arguments. Sharon owned up to it; both ladies agreed to be more civil. Later, Sharon was suspicious when Jack got a message from the bank checking out some unusual activity on his credit card.... The forger met with Adam, who was ready to give him the materials he needed.
Nikki was questioned by the authorities, but she insisted she didn't know anything about Victor. Paul then interrupted them and announced to the Feds that he spied Victor in an alley... Back in Genoa City, Heather questioned Nick, Victoria and J.T. about Victor, but they refused to give her any information.... In Brazil, the Feds let Nikki go. A relieved Nikki thanked Paul for helping her out by making up the lead about Newman. Victoria and Nick were happy when Nikki called to report that she'd pulled off her plan. Nick was still worried about Nikki's scheme falling apart.... Heather was surprised when she learned that her father was in Rio.... Victor set the chateau on fire.
