Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of October 5, 2009
Monday
In the hospital chapel, Nick informed Phyllis that Sharon's baby died — and that it was his child. He then explained why he'd put off telling her, but
insisted that he did actually want to share the truth with her. Phyllis was
compassionate as Nick sadly revealed that he hadn't gotten to say good-bye
to her baby, and took her husband in her arms.
Meanwhile, Jack told Victor that Traci has decided to take Colleen off of
life support and is willing to give her daughter's heart to Newman. "It's
yours," said Jack. "Colleen's heart is yours to go on living with." "I'm
sorry for the pain, but I'm grateful for the chance," Victor struggled to
choke out. Jack noted that Colleen had "a good heart," both literally and
figuratively. "We should let you die; you're a bastard," Jack spat. "But one
death is enough. For Colleen's sake, I hope you live." Jack then left his
room and found Nikki and Victoria waiting anxiously in the hallway. "The
answer is yes," he told the thrilled family. A joyous Nikki went to sit with
Victor, right by a certain gift which had been left on his bed.
Abby sat with Colleen and broke down over everything that was going on in
her family. Jack stayed with her and promised Abby that he wasn't going
anywhere. Abby tearfully said good-bye to her sister. She asked Colleen to
tell Brad that she loved him, then bolted from the room. Jack now shared a
moment alone with his niece and lamented about his war with Victor. "I'm
sorry, Colleen," he whispered. "I should've protected you better." Later,
J.T. spent some time with her and said his farewells. He regretted not being
there to save her. "I love you, Colleen," he told her. "I will always,
always love you. I hope you know that." As he spoke, Victoria peered in from
outside the room.
Billy prayed for Colleen and was still furious about Victor. Katherine
entered the chapel and acknowledged that what was happening was painful, but
it was real. She urged him to deal with it and be there for his family. "Say
your good-byes or you're going to regret it for the rest of your life," she
warned.
Sharon regarded a photo of her sonogram. Rafe visited her at the hospital
and told her that she's free to go home once she's discharged.... Phyllis
promised Nick that he's not alone. She wondered how Sharon was doing; Nick
replied that Sharon is numb.... Sharon spoke to Cassie and believed that her
little girls were now together. She asked Cassie to take care of the baby.
Later, Nick told Nikki the bad news about his child.
Mac informed Lily of Traci's decision, noting that Colleen was trying to
help Patty when she died, and was still in effect, helping people. Lily
showed Mac the angel pin that Colleen had given her. Cane joined them and
believed that Colleen came to Lily when Lily had had her dream about her
friend. Later, Lily thanked God for letting Colleen come to her in her
sleep.
Ashley ran into Nikki in the hospital hallway. Nikki told her that Traci is
an amazing woman. Ashley then visited Victor and introduced him to "his"
baby, Faith. Victor loved the name. Later, Ashley joined Traci and Steve as
the shared their last moments with Colleen.
Sharon held up her sonogram pic along with a photo of Cassie. The scene then
morphed into little Faith Newman resting in her hospital crib.... As the Y&R
theme played, both Colleen and Victor were wheeled into surgery so the
transplant could take place. All of their loved ones watched, not sure what
to expect next.
Tuesday
At the Abbott mansion, Billy began making calls for Colleen's funeral. When
he stepped out, Noah noted to Jack that Billy was obviously still angry
about Victor getting Colleen's heart. Sharon then called Noah and told him
that she's out of the mental hospital and back at the G.C.A.C. She asked him
to come see her, but wouldn't say why. Noah realized that something was
wrong.
At Crimson Lights, Mac and Chloe discussed Colleen's condition and how it
was affecting Billy. Mac acknowledged that the Abbotts were going through a
tough time. After, Chloe told Chance how worried she was about Billy. Just
then, Billy entered the coffeehouse and Chloe expressed her condolences. He
opened up to her about how confused he is about the transplant, and how in
some ways he wants it to work so that a part of Colleen will keep on living.
He thanked Chloe for "getting it." She invited him to join her for a cup of
coffee, but he went to be with Mac. Chance didn't understand why she was
getting bent out of shape about a man who's no longer her husband. Chloe
admitted that she and Billy are still technically married. Chance was not
happy to hear this. Chloe explained that there was a "glitch" in the divorce
proceedings.... Billy admitted to Mac that he's not happy with the direction
of his life. She suggested she figure out what makes him feel fulfilled. He
decided to leave Jabot.... Chance invited Chloe to be his date for the
Harvest Festival. She agreed, but refused to wear a certain item.
At the hospital, Victoria anxiously awaited for word on Victor's surgery...
Ashley prayed that Victor would make it for his baby's sake.... Nick
informed Victoria that his and Sharon's baby died. Victoria was upset for
him. Nick didn't really want to talk about it..... Phyllis told Nikki that
she's praying for Victor, despite Victor bringing Patty to town and getting
Summer hurt. Phyllis added that she wished she could bring Nick's baby back
so that he and Sharon could get a chance to say good-bye to their daughter.
Phyllis noted that even though Nick hadn't told her the truth about the baby
right away, she understood that he put it off for the sake of their family.
Noah and Jack stopped by Sharon's suite. Sharon was surprised to see Jack,
but he was concerned about her. He realized that she was no longer pregnant;
Sharon revealed that the baby didn't make it. Noah embraced his mom. Sharon
pretended that the baby was Jack's, for Noah's sake. After Noah left, Jack
asked why she hadn't told her son that Nick was the father. Sharon was
afraid that if Noah found out, he'd hate her. "He's all I have left,"
she explained. Jack argued that Noah could never hate her. Sharon confided
that she keeps picturing her baby — Faith — in her mind. Jack revealed that
Ashley named her baby Faith. After, Sharon offered to talk to Traci about
losing a child. Jack appreciated that. He reminded her that life moves on.
"I need to remember that," she said tearfully. "Especially now." After Jack
left, Noah promised his mom that he wasn't going anywhere. "You're my mom.
I'm always going to be here for you," he told her. Later, Sharon informed
Noah that the baby wasn't Jack's, it was Nick's.
Neil stopped by the hospital to see how Victor was doing and Ashley
introduced him to her baby. After, Ashley introduced Nick to his "sister."
Ashley admitted to Nick that things aren't so great between herself and
Victor. She assured Nick that she would let Victor be a part of Faith's
life. Later, she let Nick hold the baby, both unaware that the child was
really his. Nick was taken aback when she shared that the infant's name is
Faith.
Victoria and J.T. finally had a serious talk about her cheating on him with
Deacon. He was furious with her for betraying him, but she wanted to wait to
discuss it further until they got word about her father's condition....
Neil and Nikki went to the chapel to pray.... Jack returned to the hospital
and ran into Phyllis. She was sorry for Colleen's death. Jack replied that
he was dealing with it, but he was worried about Traci. Phyllis then
revealed that she knows that Sharon's child was Nick's. She wondered why
Jack hadn't told her the truth. Jack explained that Sharon gave up the
chance to be with Nick so that he'd be there for Summer and Phyllis.... The
doctor informed the Newmans that the transplant took place and all they
could do was wait and see how Victor's body responded to the new heart.
Victor was wheeled back into his room. "Way to go, kid," Jack said aloud to
Colleen's spirit. "Way to go."
Wednesday
Phyllis tried to comfort a distraught Nick, but her husband was numb over the loss of his baby. He cheered up considerably when Summer greeted him and sat in his lap. Phyllis tried to get Summer to surprise him by saying that she loves her daddy, but Summer clammed up. Nick appreciated the effort. Later, Phyllis told him that she knows why Sharon kept the results of the baby's paternity quiet. Nick acknowledged that Sharon believed that Phyllis and Nick needed to be together for their sake and Summer's. Phyllis wanted to apologize to Sharon for misjudging her.
A tearful Sharon went through her things in the G.C.A.C suite and came across a flyer for the home she and Nick were planning to purchase. She then cradled a few of the baby items she'd bought and thought back to when she and Nick had decided to name their daughter Faith.
At the Chancellor Estate, Esther again urged Chloe not to lead Chance on. Chance soon arrived to take Chloe to the Harvest Festival, though she was less than thrilled about attending. Esther thought it was sweet that Chance
came to the front door of his own home to pick up his date properly. Later, they went to the festival, but Chloe had a hard time fitting in. Chance encouraged her to loosen up. She rose to the challenge and went to show off how good she is at bobbing for apples. She actually began to relax and have a good time, even donning a cheese hat to show some of that Wisconsin spirit. Chance declared that she looked "hot" in the get-up. After their date, Chloe told him that she enjoys hanging out with him. They returned home and began kissing passionately on the Chancellor living room couch, but Chance put a halt to their make-out session and said that they're moving too quickly for him. Chloe understood and agreed to another date with him.
Gloria told Deacon that she's close to having the real Terroni. Deacon wasn't sure that she could pull it off, but she promised him that he'd have the painting that night.... At Crimson Lights, Kevin, Amber and Daniel met to discuss the painting. Kevin intended to return it to the museum so he could get the reward for it. He didn't want his mom involved. Michael overheard and asked if they had the real painting ‹ and wanted to know how they got a hold of it. Kevin said that they're trying to do the right thing by returning it to the museum. Michael insisted that the painting is going to be given to the proper authorities, but Daniel wanted to give it to
Deacon. Gloria later arrived and stated that the painting belongs to her. Michael disagreed... Amber whispered to Daniel that they'd get it to Deacon, but she also wanted to get the money for it. Daniel demanded that after they give him the Terroni, they have no more contact with Sharpe. Daniel wanted to approach Deacon alone, but Amber insisted on going with him. He admitted that he didn't fully trust her with Deacon.... Kevin and Michael argued over Ryder. Kevin wanted to get the money so he could get Ryder out of jail, but
Michael didn't like that idea. Lauren interrupted them, reminding Michael that they had plans with Phyllis and Summer. Kevin and Glo continued to argue over the painting. Gloria offered to give part of her share of the money for Ryder's defense, but Kevin refused.... Amber went to see Deacon and told him that she'll always choose Daniel over him. Deacon presented her with a "wedding gift," which was a diamond necklace. Amber said she can't be bought, but Deacon insisted she at least try it on. She let him fasten it around her neck. Daniel then arrived and spied Amber wearing the necklace. He demanded that she take it off and was furious when she hesitated. He tormed out of Deacon's suite, stating that Amber and Deacon deserve each other.... Kevin entered the coffeehouse after dark with the painting and hid the rolled-up canvas behind one of the other paintings that was hanging on Crimson Light's wall. Gloria soon let herself in after spying on her son and retrieved the Terroni.
The Baldwins arrived at Nick and Phyllis's for their get-together. Nick revealed that Phyllis went to see Sharon, and shared that the baby didn't make it. Michael felt badly for Jack, but then Nick informed them that the child was his. Nick was thrilled when Summer told him that she loves him.... Sharon was surprised when Phyllis arrived at her suite. Phyllis told Sharon how sorry she is about the baby and admitted that she wasn't sure she would've been able to get over it had Summer died. "You don't get over it," Sharon replied. "You just learn to move on." Phyllis then thanked
Sharon for allowing Nick to be with their family and apologized for misjudging her. Sharon believed that Phyllis was relieved that nothing was tying Nick to Sharon. Phyllis remained calm and stated that that wasn't true. "The baby you just lost happens to be the daughter of the man I love, and the sister of Summer and Noah," she noted. "So there's no pleasure, no relief, no triumph in knowing that your daughter died. There's only sadness, Sharon. I don't wish this upon anyone, least of all, you." Before leaving, Phyllis acknowledged that they'd never be best friends, but still promised Sharon that if she ever needs anything, she should just ask.
Thursday
At the tack house, Noah confided in Nick how upset he was to have lost another sister. Noah wanted to help his parents, but Nick encouraged him to continue living his own life... Sharon ran into Adam at the hospital when she arrived to visit Victor, and he expressed his condolences for her losing her baby. She noted that she hadn't heard from the funeral home about her baby's ashes, then broke down as she talked about her child. They bonded as both admitted that they didn't have many friends to talk to. They then discussed Victor and Sharon said that he should be grateful that Adam's father has been given another chance. Before she went to see Victor, a guilty Adam again told her how sorry he is for her loss.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Ashley looked on proudly as Jack held his new "niece." Jack revealed to Ashley that Sharon's baby didn't make it. Ashley was upset to hear this. She shared that ever since Faith was born, she felt a need to take her life back. Ashley then asked if she could return to work, at least part-time. Jack was thrilled. However, he wasn't too happy when she noted that Victor would still be a part of the baby's life. After, Adam came by and told Ashley that he wanted to take Nick and Sharon to a nearby funeral home. She was surprised that he wanted to help them.
Billy, Mac, Traci and Steve went to the funeral home to prepare Colleen's memorial. Billy didn't think Colleen would like any of the morbid things that usually go into a funeral. Traci agreed and asked Billy to plan the service.
Nikki stayed with Victor at the hospital. Neither of them corrected the doctor when he called Nikki Victor's wife. Victor told Nikki that if it hadn't been for her tracking down Ashley the year before, then Faith wouldn't exist. After, Nikki visited with Ashley and Faith. Ashley asked if they could discuss the night of the storm; Nikki recalled telling Victor that she still loves him that night. Ashley admitted that she thought that she'd hit Nikki with the car — and that she'd thought that Nikki had been haunting her. Nikki felt badly that Ashley had gone through that, but Ash just wanted to put the summer behind her. Nikki noted that Faith looks just like Nick did when he was born.
Adam went to the funeral home and asked the director to get him some water. Adam then purposely spilled it, and when the director went to get towels, swiped a dead baby's ashes. Billy caught a glimpse of Adam as he left the home. Later, Adam eavesdropped as Sharon visited with Victor. She told Victor that she's through with counting on other people. Victor stated that Sharon is the love of Nick's life.... Adam had the ashes delivered to Sharon's G.C.A.C. suite.
At the Abbott mansion, Jack told his family that Ashley is returning to Jabot. Billy asked to speak with his brother and informed him that he wants to resign from Jabot. Jack was furious and accused him of making a rash decision. Mac supported Billy, but Jack snapped that his brother would end up drinking at Jimmy's every night. Later, Billy went to see Ashley and the baby and shared that he's leaving Jabot. Unlike Jack, Ashley was supportive of his decision. After, Ashley removed her wedding band..... Nikki told Adam that Victor wants to forgive Adam for the stunts he's pulled — and that it's up to Adam to prove that he deserves the second chance.... Nick went to see his father and said that he's still angry with Victor for bringing Patty to town and getting Summer caught in the crossfire. However, he still didn't want to lose his dad, especially since he'd just lost a child. Victor promised Nick that he still has him; Nick embraced his father and broke down, sobbing. Nikki joined them as Nick cried that he never got to hold his baby. Meanwhile, Ashley stood right outside the room cradling Faith.
Billy planned a celebration of Colleen's life instead of a typical funeral. Traci was grateful that the Abbotts were still standing tall despite all that they'd been through over the past couple of years.
Sharon called to find out what happened to her baby's remains. Just then, someone knocked on her suite door; it was a delivery of the ashes. She became teary as she held them.... Adam recalled Hope telling him that he's a good man who's going to do wonderful things in his life — and broke down crying in shame. "I'm sorry I let you down," he whispered.
Friday
Nick, Phyllis and Noah arrived at the Abbott mansion, all wearing bright colors for Colleen's funeral. Phyllis told Katherine that Summer is improving every day. Kay took Nick aside and expressed her condolences over Sharon losing the baby. Soon, Billy, Mac, Traci, Jack, Ashley, Steve and J.T. arrived. Jack and Ashley were thankful that John didn't have to struggle with Colleen's death, but also wished he were there to meet Faith.... Chloe arrived with a gift from Jill, explaining that Jill was covering for Neil at work. Chloe told Billy that even though she and Colleen weren't friends, she always appreciated Colleen being the maid of honor in Sharon's place at her and Billy's wedding.
Doris met with Sharon at Crimson Lights and was saddened to hear about the baby. She believed that Sharon could help Nick mourn, but Sharon noted that he has Phyllis. Sharon then shared that she was planning to spread their baby's ashes by herself. Doris urged her to invite Nick. After Sharon left for the Abbott cabin, Doris called Nick and filled him in on Sharon's plans.
Neil and Devon came to Cane and Lily's to pick up Lily for the funeral, but she didn't seem to be in shape to attend. Her doctor told her that she wouldn't be able to go to the memorial. After, Cane took care of a devastated Lily and tried to talk some sense into her. He assured her that the Abbotts would understand why she couldn't make it. Later, Cane gave Humphrey the dog a bath so Lily could be with him. She cheered up a bit.
At the hospital, the doctor told Victor and the Newmans that Victor was doing well. Victor was sorry that the Abbotts had to deal with Colleen's death. Nikki took his hand and could feel his pulse. "You have an Abbott heart inside of you, beating ... after all these years and all these feuds," she noted. Victor believed that their feuds would only intensify, but Nikki didn't think they'd ruin Colleen's memory with bitterness. She was sure that Jack had a say in allowing him to get the transplant. Victor wondered what the news was saying about him, but Nikki insisted that Victoria and Nick take care of all the press surrounding his condition.
At the memorial, everyone went outside, where the yard was decorated like a party.... Mac admired the pictures of Colleen that Billy had taken.... Billy stated that Cordelia was going to hear all of the stories about Colleen.... Kevin, Daniel and Jana told Traci and Steve how much Colleen meant to them.
Traci was thrilled when Daniel gave her a drawing he'd made of Colleen.... Abby tried to keep her composure.... Neil and Devon arrived and explained why Lily couldn't make it.... Phyllis urged Nick to be with Sharon. Noah was about to join his dad, but Abby asked Noah to stay with her. Nick asked Phyllis if she was really okay with him leaving. "You need to do this," she said. Later, Billy addressed the crowd and tried to hold back tears as he reminded them, "Colleen was about joy, about making us laugh and about cheering us up. So we're going to honor her life with smiles and laughter." Next Traci reminded everyone that Colleen is now with Brad, so she's not alone. "She was so much braver than I am, and so much more adventurous and so much more forgiving," she stated. "Colleen touched so many lives and is continuing to do so." She then shared how Colleen's organs are helping various others to live. "She's making miracles," she said, before breaking down in Steve's arms.... Victoria arrived, dressed in pink, and asked if she could read a letter from Victor. Traci welcomed her, to Billy's chagrin.
Victoria read, "On this tragic day, my family joins with yours in mourning your daughter, your sister, your niece and your friend. We share your sorrow, and at the same time, we are filled with gratitude that somehow, in the midst of unbearable suffering, you found the strength and compassion to spare our family and so many others the same pain. There could be no more fitting tribute to the beauty of Colleen's spirit, and at this very moment, she is bringing joy and relief and hope to dozens of people — everyone she saved and all of those who love them. We are her living legacy. She will never be forgotten. Every time I hold my newborn daughter in my arms, I will think of Colleen. Every moment I spend with my grandchildren and my children, I will remember that she made it possible. And I will hold her forever in my heart." The crowd was silent, but Jack looked surprised by Victor's words.... J.T.'s speech was brief, but he recalled how Colleen had changed his life.... "I could not say no to her smile," Jack said, then shared a funny story about how his niece had gotten him to do a Latin exercise video with her — and even did some steps for the crowd! Everyone laughed.... Ashley's speech was more tearful as she relayed what a great older sister Colleen was to Abby. "Now I have a little sister, and I just want to be as good to her as Colleen was to me," Abby said.... Neil spoke on Lily's behalf, while Devon held up his cell phone so that Lily could hear. "Colleen always looked out for my girl, even if it meant getting into trouble herself," said Neil. "When Lily was diagnosed with cancer, Colleen was the best friend she could ask for." Lily cried in Cane's arms as she listened in.
Abby thanked Victoria for being there and for sharing Victor's letter. Victoria replied that Victor planned to take good care of Colleen's heart. J.T. confided to Mac that he was amazed that Traci let Victoria read Victor's letter since Victor had been out for Colleen when she was alive.... Kay assured Colleen's spirit that she was in good hands up in heaven, with John there.... Kevin made a speech about how Colleen had given him a second chance.... Victoria was very understanding about J.T.'s statement to Mac. Still, she defended Victor, reminding J.T. that Victor went to the lake
intending to save Colleen's life. "I know he's not an easy man to love, but I love him," she said.... Billy told a story about how Colleen took him to a museum and saw beauty in the paintings that he didn't understand. "That's how she saw us," he said. "The more time you spent with her, the more you started to see it her way, and you believed you saw beauty in yourself".... At the hospital, Victor's condition suddenly took a turn for the worse.
In a montage, Sharon was surprised when Nick arrived at the cabin.... Nikki broke down as doctors rushed to tend to Victor.... Cane, Lily and Neil released a red balloon in Colleen's honor.... Billy regarded Colleen's photo, then joined the rest of Colleen's family and friends as they all released balloons into the sky.
