At Newman, Nicholas reamed out Victor for trying to bribe a jailed Phyllis with freedom — provided she testify against Jack. Victor insisted that he was just trying to help her. Nick was confident that his wife wouldn't speak out against a friend just because Newman was pressuring her. Vic believed that he could help Phyllis and get back at Jack at the same time; Vic doesn't see anything wrong with this.
Meanwhile, in the Abbott living room, Jack practiced his confession speech
to Sharon. Sharon was pleased with it. Later, Sharon got a call from the
principal at Noah's school, who reported that he'd been in a fight. Noah
explained that he was defending Jack's honor when one of the other kids
called his stepfather a liar. Jack admitted to him that what the kid was
saying about him is actually true. Jack assured him that he's going to tell
everyone the truth, but Noah refused to forgive him. After, Sharon reminded
her son that everyone makes mistakes, but that it takes courage to admit
that you're wrong. Noah finally forgave Jack and gave him a hug.
At Newman, Victoria discussed Clear Springs with Karen and Neil, while a
bored J.T. waited for them. After, she looked forward to meeting J.T. at
home, however, Nick soon came by and filled her in on Victor's meeting with
Phyllis. He was upset that Victor hadn't yet gotten her out of jail,
concluding that Victor was only "helping" Phyllis because he needed her for
something. Victoria then noted that her relationship with J.T. is the "real
deal." ... J.T. admitted to Paul that he's not sure what Victoria sees in
him. Paul warned him not to let his personal life affect his work.
Karen complained to Neil about how crazy things are getting at work, thanks to Jack's scandal. Neil advised her to not let it become her whole life. Later, Victoria and Neil decided to move forward with the Clear Springs sales — despite the negative publicity the project was getting. Neil also urged her to slow down. She went home to enjoy a romantic evening with J.T. Vicky even stuck her cell phone in the oven so she could avoid work calls.... Karen took Neil's advice to heart and signed up for cooking lessons. She then invited Neil over for dinner, but first, Neil showed Victor Victoria's Clear Springs reports. Vic wasn't impressed and said that he wants his private company to begin drilling.
Victor spoke with someone from a media outlet, instructing them not to connect him in any way to the item he'd sent. Later, Victor informed Nick that he made a few calls on Phyllis's behalf. "So now what?" asked Nick. "Now we wait," Victor answered.
Jack, Sharon and Noah were stunned when they learned that a secret DVD of Jack confessing to owning Jabot was being released on the news. Jack feared that if he made his statement people would think he was doing it only because this evidence was released.
Tuesday
Nikki and David went over a proposal for a potential store in Clear Springs.
Nikki then turned on the news and saw the footage of Jack and Ji Min. She
concluded that Victor had sent it and was furious that the move
could jeopardize Clear Springs.... In his office, Victor gloated. Neil noted
that Jack's scandal could ruin Nikki's investment, but Victor didn't care.
"She made her choice," he said. Newman intended to go ahead and use his
private company to begin drilling the area.
Meanwhile, Jack watched the footage in horror and Sharon warded off the
calls from reporters. Noah wondered what Jack's next move would be; Jack
intended to go ahead with the press conference and confess everything. He
made a call and said that he wanted to turn the conference into a town hall
meeting. Sharon again told Jack that she's proud of him. Still, he wondered
who'd taped his private meetings at Jabot.
In jail, Phyllis nervously watched Jack's downfall on TV. She tried to make
a call, but her phone card didn't work.... Gloria and Kevin enjoyed viewing
the newscast at Crimson Lights. Glo believed that Jack was getting what he
deserved, but Kevin urged her to lay low and not gloat too obviously. No
chance. Gloria went on about how she'd like to see Jack lose everything, to
the point where he was able to wear nothing but his underwear because he'd
lost all of his clothes.
Jana called Kevin and informed him that she's been transferred to the state
prison. Later, he went to see her and was baffled that there were so many
restrictions there. "It's a prison," Jana helpfully reminded him. Kevin
didn't understand why she'd been sent there without a trial, but she
explained that she chose to go to jail. She believed that she was protecting
him by staying in prison, but Kevin didn't agree. Later, Jana was thrilled
to see Phyllis there and embraced Phyll.
Traci paid Colleen a visit from New York. Colleen reported that things
between her and Adrian were going well, but that her relationship with Brad
was still strained. After, Colleen argued with Brad over whether she should
attend the press conference. She was determined to support her uncle.
Jack and Katherine met up at the GCAC. She implored him to say that she had
no knowledge of him owning Jabot. Jack wondered why he should do this when
Kay secretly filmed him in the office. Kay denied doing this or even knowing
about it.... Brad promised to support Sharon.... At the coffeehouse, Gloria
questioned Kay about Jack's press conference. Kay indulged Gloria as she
again went off on Jack.
Jack wasn't happy to see Traci and Sharon at the conference. He advised them
to keep their distance from him so the media wouldn't scrutinize them.
After, he began his speech and admitted to his deception regarding owning
Jabot. He pointed out that the company is thriving and that as Senator, he
still intends to do the best for the people. Immediately, reporters began
questioning whether he should be impeached. Jack replied that he was
planning to serve his full term. He also made it clear that his wife didn't
lie along with him. Sharon noted that Jack had intended to tell the truth
even before the footage was released, and that he's an honorable man. After
the conference, Gloria taunted Jack about what she assumed was his
inevitable downfall. Sharon and Jack glared at her as she and Victor shared
a toast. Later at home, Jack assured Noah that he's going to bounce back
from everything.
Wednesday
Victoria and J.T. enjoyed a date at Crimson Lights. He gave her a song he
recorded — on a cassette tape — for her unborn baby. She teased
him about
being so old fashioned. He then admitted that sometimes he gets jealous
about her one-time relationship with Brad. She was pleased to be with
someone who was so honest.
Jill and Katherine argued over who put the secret surveillance system into
Jabot's offices. Kay became frustrated as Jill accused her of installing the
spy cams. At Jabot, Kevin made a call to Jana. Gloria interrupted him,
nervous that Jill and Kay would learn that they installed the secret cameras
and hacked into the system. Both panicked as they tried to hide the
evidence. That's when Kevin — no kidding — shoved the laptop
down his pants!
He completed the job by holding a thin file folder in front of himself, but
still, he was walking like Frankenstein.
At the Abbott manse, Sharon comforted Jack as he continued to deal with the
fallout from his press conference, where he'd confessed publicly to lying
about owning Jabot. Jack was grateful to have Sharon by his side. She
admitted that she was freaked out over the idea that someone actually spied
on Jack in order to get the incriminating footage. Jack concluded that
Victor had released the first tape, but he was unsure whether the second was
sent out. He then began to wonder why Gloria had been at the press
conference.
After Gloria stopped by to see Jill and Kay, the ladies began to suspect Glo
of being the one behind the cameras. Meanwhile, Sharon, Jack and Daniel came
to the same realization, though Daniel didn't want to believe that Kevin
would do something like that. Jack could believe it and compared Kevin and
Gloria to a
well-known and deranged mother/son "duo."
Jack and Traci shared a tearful goodbye as she prepared to head back to New
York. After she left, Sharon continued to freak out over the idea that they
were possibly being watched. Jack called Paul and asked if he could find out
who spied on him, but Paul refused to help him. Later, Maggie stopped by and
insinuated that she believed Ji Min's death wasn't an accident.
Kevin and Gloria continued to desperately cover their tracks at Jabot, while
Kay and Jill got a hold of the security tapes. Kay was appalled when Jill
admitted that she thought one had her and Ji Min having sex on it. "Dear God
in Heaven!" Kay cried. Jill became sentimental as she watched Ji Min on the
footage. She was furious that someone recorded them, and she feared that the
footage could appear on "some sicko's" Web site.... Kevin and Gloria dined
out the GCAC, but Kevin had a difficult time enjoying himself. Gloria
believed that they'd get away with everything because they're "good people"
and their actions were helping to bring down Jack. They were then
interrupted by Jeffrey Bardwell. He explained that he picked up a package
from William.... Kay had Jill turn off the "sex tapes" when reporters
arrived. Jill was horrified that they were being interviewed, but Kay urged
her to follow her lead. The reporters then questioned the ladies about Jack
and the secret tapes. Kay stated that someone hacked into the system; she
then became angry as she noted that the reporters don't seem interested in
helping them find the culprit.... Jeffrey revealed to Gloria that he
believed Will had had a premonition he was going to die and that the package
probably contained some kind of sign from his brother.... When Kevin got up
from the table to answer a call from Jana, Daniel interrupted him and asked
him point-blank if he'd hacked into Jabot's computers. Kevin denied it, but
Daniel called Jack and promised to keep an eye on his friend.... Jeff
finally informed Glo that Will's package contained among other items, a jar
of moisturizer.
Thursday
Jack and Sharon took solace in the fact that their home is the one place
where they are free of cameras. But when Jack sat down to read the
newspaper, his face was on the front page, while Sharon's appeared in the
Life and Style section under "Secrets of a Senator's Wife." The article
depicted her as a serial wife who marries to protect her children, including
deceased daughter Cassie.
When Michael and Lauren dropped Fen off at Gloria's, Lauren was still
furious with Gloria and told Michael he should have shipped her back to
Detroit when he had the chance. Gloria said she never intended to hurt
Lauren, but her daughter-in-law remained angry and stormed out. Michael
asked if Gloria was the one who provided Victor with the tape. Gloria told
Michael that Jack got what he deserved for hurting her family. Lies come
back to bite a person, she pointed out. Michael said that's why he worries
about Gloria.
After an awkward run-in with Victor and Victoria, Brad sat down at the GCAC
bar and saw Sharon's article in the newspaper, while Nikki and David were
reading it at the office. Nikki was upset that the reporter brought Sharon's
children into the story. David informed Nikki that he had the perfect plan
to separate them from Jack, but he didn't give up the details. Meanwhile,
Jack phoned Ben and told him to make sure Sharon's personal life remains out
of the press. Brad called Sharon to see how she was holding up and asked
what he could do. "They didn't write about the Sharon I know," he said.
Sharon had to hang up when Jack returned to the room. He sat down and
thanked Sharon for all her support, while Brad looked at the article and
thought back to telling Sharon that she and him are the "real couple." Brad
showed the article to Victor and pointed out that this whole thing is
hurting Sharon, prompting Victor to threaten the columnist who wrote it.
At a Clear Springs business meeting, Nikki offered to launch a huge
marketing campaign for Fenmore's. Lauren was tentative about moving forward
with the store as part of the development but agreed. At the GCAC, Michael
confronted Victor about releasing the tapes. Victor reminded him that it was
Michael's evidence that forced Ji Min to expose Jack. Victor also advised
Michael that he would not protect Lauren's investment.
Jana was overly enthusiastic about seeing jail buddy Phyllis and started to
follow her around, pointing out how many things they had in common. Jana
noted that they both know what it's like to love a man so much that they
would go to extremes for them. Phyllis approached the warden and requested
that he keep Jana away from her and move her to a different cell block. Jana
again approached Phyllis and started talking about all the books she likes,
especially serial-killer biographies. Phyllis was clearly spooked and went
to talk to Charlene about a "transaction," then exchanged money for a card
with someone. Phyllis used the phone card to call Michael and tell her about
creepy Jana. The warden got wind of the exchange and reminded Phyllis that
she's not getting any special privileges, then introduced Phyllis to her new
cellmate, Jana.
Lauren met with Michael at the GCAC and informed him that if they couldn't
trust each other, they didn't have much of a marriage. Jack turned on the TV
and watched a reporter question Nikki and Victoria about the Clear Springs
project. Nikki assured the interviewer that the political scandal
surrounding Jack would not affect the project, and announced that Fenmore's
would be anchoring the mall. Afterward, David congratulated his associates
on a job well done. Once Victoria was out of the room, Nikki agreed to meet
David at his room later.
Jeffrey arrived at Gloria's with a box of items sent by Will, prompting
Gloria to recall a conversation with her late husband about the cream.
Gloria played it cool and invited Jeffrey in. Inside the box, Jeffrey found
a small coin collection and some photos of William as a child. Gloria asked
how Jeffrey knew what all these things were if he and his twin were
separated so young. He labeled everything, Jeffrey explained, then pulled
out a stack of childhood letters. He handed her a pair rubber gloves for
handling the old letters, prompting her to recall wearing the gloves to
taint the Jabot cream. They read a few of the letters, but Gloria sent
Jeffrey on her way when Fen started to cry. Before he left, he pointed out
that she hadn't removed her gloves yet. Gloria joked that she often wears
them to clean her jewelry. Later, Gloria told Michael and Lauren that she
believes Jeffrey knows about her tainting the cream.
Sharon and Brad met in the Newman kitchen, and Brad asked why Sharon lets
herself be in the press's line of fire. She insisted that she loves her
husband and is only trying to support him. Brad then suggested that Jack was
trying to take advantage of her, but when she wouldn't listen, he secretly
put the phone on intercom and said he just hopes the press doesn't find out
about Nick, while Jack listened. Stunned, Jack headed straight to the
kitchen.
At the GCAC, Victor ran into Nikki and reminded her that she had nothing
when she met him, and that's what he plans to leave her with. At Crimson
Lights, David met with Carter and advised him to push harder on the Ji Min
story.
Friday
At Newman, Jack approached Brad and Sharon in the break room after
overhearing Brad and Sharon discussing her and Nicholas's recent kiss.
Sharon wondered why Jack looked so disturbed, but he evaded her
question.
Nick, Noah and Daniel dined at the GCAC. Noah told Nick that he knew about
Jack's lying. He also confessed that he'd gotten into a fight at school.
Nick praised Noah and Jack for owning up to what they did.
At the jail, Jana bubbled over with enthusiasm over the prospect of being
Phyllis's cellmate. Phyllis wasn't so happy about the arrangement. Later,
Kevin paid Jana a visit. She happily told him about Phyllis being her
cellmate. Kevin assured her that she'd only be in jail for a little while,
but Jana wasn't so sure she could ever really pay for killing someone. She
thanked Kevin for getting her through everything.... Phyllis again asked the
warden to give her a new cellmate, but he refused. She tried to ignore Jana
as Jana babbled about Kevin. Jana then offered to let Phyllis use her
calling card to phone Nick. Phyllis wasn't sure she should be making calls
after getting into trouble, so Jana called him on Phyllis's behalf. Nick was
horrified to learn that she's Phyll's cellmate. After he hung up, Nick told
Daniel about his mom's new "friend." Later, Nick made some calls about the
situation, while Daniel asked Kevin about Jana's state of mind. Kevin
replied that Jana's "cool," but Daniel became increasingly upset. Noah then
overheard him say that Phyllis was living with a killer. The guys lied that
they were joking. Daniel and Nick promised to check in on her. Later, Nick
met with Phyllis at the jail. Phyllis said that while Jana hadn't threatened
her, her overly-eager demeanor was freaking her out. Nick demanded that the
warden separate the ladies, but he wouldn't listen to Newman either,
pointing out that Phyllis's next cellmate could be an even bigger threat.
Nick warned him that he'll keep sending appeals. The warden countered that
if Nick and his team keep bugging him, he'll make Phyllis's time in jail
even worse. Phyllis later found Jana pouring over the new book she ordered,
and was upset by its subject matter. She became even more unnerved when Jana
recalled Carmen's murder in graphic detail.
Katherine reported to Jill and Cane that thanks to Jack's scandal, Jabot's
numbers were falling. Jill was still spooked over the idea that someone was
spying on them at Jabot. After, Maggie came by the office and informed them
that she believes Ji Min's death might not have been an accident. Jill
demanded that they investigate it as a murder; Maggie promised to find out
exactly what happened. First, she questioned Cane about his relationship
with Ji Min. Cane insisted that he didn't have a relationship with him, but
Maggie reminded Cane that he'd threatened Ji Min. Jill was annoyed with her
for investigating her son and suggested she go after Jack instead. Jill
wanted to know if Ji Min suffered; she was devastated when Maggie revealed
that the coroner said it took several minutes for him to die. Later, Jill
asked Cane if he'd threatened Ji Min. Cane said that all he'd done was grab
Ji Min by the arm in a public place.
Alone in his office, Jack called out for John's ghost, wishing his late dad
could give him some advice. Meanwhile, Sharon hoped that Jack hadn't
overheard them. Brad promised not to say anything ... but he didn't promise
not to again trick Sharon into saying something. After, she came by Jack's
office, but he was cold to her. He finally told her that he'd overheard
about her and Nick's kiss over the intercom. Sharon was contrite, but Jack
was understandably furious. He noted that she'd lied to him despite
lecturing him about telling the truth regarding the Jabot scandal. He also
couldn't understand why Brad was the one she confided in about the
buss. Sharon insisted that all she and Nick did was kiss, but Jack wasn't
sure he could believe her. Sharon then stated that she didn't say anything
because she was trying to protect Jack; he didn't buy that excuse.... In the
break room, Brad thought about Sharon. Jack then confronted Brad and told
him to stay away from her. Brad didn't listen and apologized to Sharon for
Jack overhearing their conversation. Sharon felt guilty for hurting her
husband, and when she began to cry, Brad embraced her. Smooth move, Carlton.
Sharon called Nick and warned him that Jack knows what happened between
them.
