Haven Help Them

— By Mara Levinsky

Annie is the latest in a long line of Pine Valley citizens who've spent time receiving treatment at trusty sanitarium Oak Haven — though AMC has rewritten history where Dixie is concerned (when Adam tricked her into committing herself to a mental institution in order to gain custody of their son, she actually went to Laurel Hill). Here are 10 other citizens who've had Haven help them ... or try to.

Ann Tyler Martin: In 1977, Anne was devastated when her special-needs child, Beth, lost her life to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). The loss precipitated Anne's mental breakdown, and hubby Paul was forced to institutionalize her at Oak Haven, where she remained until 1980.

Robin Christopher and David Canary
Like Father, Like Daughter: Both Adam (David Canary) and Skye (Robin Christopher) were Oak Haven residents.
— ABC

Skye Chandler: In 1988, Skye was able to conquer a coma, but collapsed into a catatonic state when she spied her beloved Tom in the arms of another woman (Barbara, specifically) and held a gun on her. She was sent to Oak Haven to convalesce, where she met and fell for Travis.

Travis Montgomery: Travis was also a patient at Oak Haven in 1988, receiving treatment for amnesia.

Emily Ann Sago Martin: After suffering a miscarriage in 1990, troubled Emily Ann became increasingly unglued. Convinced that hubby Joey (now Jake) was cheating with Katie Kennicott, Emily Ann took her rival hostage. Joey managed to talk her down, but she was dispatched to Oak Haven in 1991.

Gloria Marsh Chandler: Gloria went to Oak Haven in 1995, after suffering a mental breakdown in the wake of the death of her newborn daughter, Anna Claire.

Adam Chandler: Adam has done two stints in Oak Haven. The first was in 2000; Liza had him committed after blackmailing him for his power of attorney. (The goods she had on him? That he'd hired a gigolo to split up the burgeoning romance between his twin, Stuart, and her mother, Marian.) Liza had him released when Stuart was presumed dead in a fire. In 2008, Dixie's spirit haunted Adam, trying to provoke him to do the right thing and reunite Tad with his daughter, Kathy. During the time he was being “haunted,” his behavior was so erratic that JR thought it best to send him to Oak Haven.

Kate Collins
In A Better Place: Janet (Kate Collins) is now resting comfortable at Oak Haven.
— ABC

Edmund Grey: Dimitri had brother Edmund briefly committed to Oak Haven in 2000, convinced that Edmund had had something to do with the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Alex, Edmund's former flame. Thanks to Brooke's intervention, Edmund was freed.

Leslie Coulson: Leslie's obsession with Tad was the progenitor of many a criminal act. She was finally locked up at Oak Haven in 2001.

Vanessa Bennett: In 2002, as a last-ditch effort for having to do the time for having done the crimes (she was the criminal drug lord known as Proteus), Vanessa feigned a split personality and was institutionalized. She gave her bodyguards the slip and broke out, kidnapping Greenlee and ultimately plunging to her death in a face-off at Laurel Falls with son Leo.

Janet Green: No stranger to extreme lapses into psychotic behavior, Janet was sent to Oak Haven in 2006 after her latest crime spree, which included murdering hubby Trevor and stashing his corpse in a meat locker, in addition to kidnapping Babe and Little Adam. In 2007, Adam helped her escape in exchange for her help with his scheme to kidnap baby Jenny, Tad and Krystal's daughter. She was eventually recaptured.
