ALL MY CHILDREN Interview
Q&A With Michael B. Jordan (Reggie, AMC)
Weekly: When you took the part, did you have any idea it was going to grow like this?
Jordan: I never expected it, I just thought it was going to be a recurring role. I didn't think it was going to become contract. I'm grateful.
Weekly: What did they tell you about Reggie? Did he seem to be just a street thug?
Jordan: Yeah, they told me he was going to be a street thug, giving everybody a hard time -- nobody was really going to like him. Then they told me they were going to try to do a love story, an interracial love thing between me and Joni. I never did an on-screen kiss, so that was my first time and I was kind of nervous. It was OK (laughs).

Weekly: What's it like working with Walt Willey (Jackson)?
Jordan: Walt, he's great. He gives me rides home sometimes. I talk to him. He's like another father figure. On-screen and offscreen he's giving a lot of guidelines. He's keeping me straight. There's a lot of chemistry; we're bonding a lot and it's good for me to have somebody to look up to. He's one of the legends, you know, "Jackson Montgomery." He's been around, he's going to be around, so I'm really glad to be working with him.
Weekly: How is Susan Lucci (Erica)?
Jordan: Susan is great. At first I was intimidated, because, "Oh, my God, the famous Susan Lucci!" I was nervous, but she made me feel right at home and made me feel comfortable. Soap operas move so fast. She told me to slow down, take my time, there's no need to rush, and everything worked out fine.
Weekly: Where would you like to see Reggie go?
Jordan: I would like to see Reggie with a girl and have relationship problems, just like any other relationship. Accuse him of cheating, this and that, and then he shows her how much he cares about her. I would like to see the more sensitive side of Reggie. The audience knows the rough, tough thug-from-the-street Reggie. I want them to see the sensitive, caring Reggie. Not too much, just a little bit.
Weekly: Do you consider yourself a scene stealer?
Jordan: No, a scene-enhancer, that's what I would call it. I pick and choose my battles. When I see an opening, I try to go there.
