Dixie with Craig (Scott Thompson Baker) and Gloria (Teresa Blake), his mistress
— Ann Limongello/ABC

The Heart Of Dixie

1992: Dixie got wise to Craig's wicked ways and secured a divorce. Reeling from this trauma, and the murder of her brother, Will, Dixie briefly lost her grip on her sanity, but Brian Bodine was there to serve as her rock and they began a relationship. Unbeknownst to Dixie, Tad returned to Pine Valley, but with his complete memory loss, he had assumed the identity of Ted Orsini, a vineyard scion. (Ted's mother, Nola, had encountered Tad in California and rejoiced, for here was a dead ringer for her supposedly dead son, and she believed he had miraculously returned to her.)

Brian (Brian Lane Green), Junior (Kevin Alexander) and Dixie
— Ann Limongello/ABC

1993: Dixie and Tad finally came face-to-face, and his memory returned. She, however, had just tied the knot with Brian. And when Tad learned that Brooke had given birth to his son, Jamie, he decided to marry Brooke. Dixie broke up with Brian and found herself attracted to Tad's doppelgänger, Ted, who was alive after all. Even though Tad was trying to make a go of his union to Brooke, he couldn't resist his feelings for Dixie, and they began a covert affair. But Ted had fallen hard for Dixie and became Billy Clyde-like in his determination to make her his. To that end, he nearly murdered Tad. Dixie saved Tad's life, though Ted lost his.

Tad and Dixie's second wedding
— Ann Limongello/ABC

1994: Brooke became depressed, not to mention desperate, when she found out that Tad wanted Dixie back, and deliberately got pregnant. The pregnancy was ectopic and therefore life-threatening, but Brooke resisted medical advice and fled town with Jamie. Edmund persuaded her to terminate the pregnancy and divorce Tad, which paved the way for another Dixie/Tad wedding. Dixie also found time to donate a kidney to her newly discovered half brother, Del.

Tad and Dixie on the set of his talk show, The Cutting Edge
— Ann Limongello/ABC

1995: Dixie was tormented by Janet, who tried to make her go crazy by making it appear as though her brother, Will, was back from the dead. Dixie threw herself into a new career as a teacher, and with Tad busy producing a talk show, their marriage suffered. Things only got worse when Tad's former flame, Liza, returned to town....

Dixie and Liza (Marcy Walker)
— Ann Limongello/ABC

1996: Liza conspired with Jason, an intern at the TV station where she and Tad worked, to bust up Tad and Dixie's marriage. After Jason planted a kiss on Dixie, Liza tattled to Tad and Junior caught Tad and Liza locking lips, also. When Junior reported this to Dixie, she flipped. And after Jason killed Laurel, their marriage hit rock bottom. Tad hit the sheets with Liza just as Dixie was realizing that she'd been too hard on her hubby and wanted to reconcile. When she got wind of his affair, Dixie left Tad and moved back to Pigeon Hollow.
