Liza Colby: Her Life And Times

— By Mara Levinsky

She's baaaaaaaack! Or, at least, she will be, on April 17, with Jamie Luner taking over for Marcy Walker. We're speaking, of course, of Liza, the hell-raiser turned heroine who has been sorely missed in the Pine Valley universe! Here's a year-by-year refresher on Ms. Colby.

1981

Snooty, manipulative teen princess Liza set her romantic sights on Greg Nelson ... who had eyes only for sweet Jenny Gardner.

1982

Liza pulled out all the stops to try to steal Greg away from Jenny. When Liza uncovered that Jenny's father, Ray Gardner, had raped Ruth Martin, she threatened to expose the awful truth to Greg, sending Jenny on the run to New York. When Jenny's BFF, Jesse, learned what Liza had done and confronted her, Liza accused him of rape, so he, too, fled to the Big Apple. Eventually, the truth came out, and Liza was forced to retract her accusation. She also lost her shot at Greg, who reconciled with Jenny.

Liza continued to cause trouble for Greg and Jenny, but she soon became more interested in another fella: Jenny's brother, Tad. Liza was crushed when she discovered that Tad was cheating on her with an older woman ... and she was decimated when the woman in question turned out to be her own mother, Marian. Liza disowned her mom and denounced Tad, but when her dad, Larry, died of a heart attack, Liza softened toward her mom.

1984

Liza was raped and developed a crush on her older doctor, Cliff Warner, with whom she began working as an intern on his medical TV show. She was able to seduce him, but the affair further sullied her reputation, and she ended up leaving town.

1995

Years later, Liza returned to town to become the station manager at WRCW. Her attraction to Tad remained strong, despite his marriage to Dixie.

1996

During a rough patch in his marriage, Tad and Liza had one-night stand. When Dixie found out (courtesy of Marian), she divorced Tad. Liza hoped to make Tad jealous by faking a liaison with Adam, who likewise hoped to make Brooke jealous. They took their ruse all the way to the altar, expecting someone to voice their objection. When no one did, Liza said “I do” anyway, realizing the power that came with being Mrs. Adam Chandler. Liza went on a Christmas getaway to the country and had a fling with a handsome man she met there. Unbeknownst to her, her suitor was none other than Tad's little brother, Joey, who now called himself Jake.

1997

Liza's feelings for Jake grew when they both returned to Pine Valley and she agreed to divorce Adam. But they slept together and she became pregnant, and she and Jake made the decision just to be friends. Liza was devastated when she miscarried and left Adam, holding him responsible. When he had a stroke, though, she helped to take care of him. She was furious when he faked a second stroke in order to hold on to her sympathies and she told him that she wanted a divorce.

1998

Liza helped to clear Jake's name when David made it look like he'd tried to kill Adam. Hungry for a baby, Liza asked Jake to provide a sperm sample, and soon enough, she was preggers. When Adam was nearly killed by madman Lee, Liza realized that she still loved him and they reunited.

1999

Liza gave birth to Colby and remarried Adam. Jake, who originally did not intend to play a role in Colby's upbringing, sued for custody because he believed that the Chandler mansion was an unsuitable environment for a child. Adam was forced to confess that thanks to a sperm sample switch orchestrated by him, he, not Jake, was Colby's biological pop. She was furious and plotted revenge.

2000

Liza divorced Adam and worked to block his efforts to break up the new marriage of his twin, Stuart, to Marian. She got Adam committed to Oak Haven and, with assistance from Tad, took control of Adam's company. When Stuart was presumed dead, she took pity on Adam and let him out of Oak Haven. In a drunken stupor, Adam married Arlene Vaughan, but the marriage ended when he and Liza found their way back to each other.

2001

Liza and Adam remarried but when she found out that he'd bedded a judge to help JR beat drug charges, she slept with Ryan and became pregnant (she ended up miscarrying). Liza was stunned to make the acquaintance of a half sister she'd never known about, Mia.

— ABC

A brain tumor caused Liza to behave erratically. Adam plotted to get custody of Colby by making her seem like an unfit mother. Liza caught on to his scheme.

2003

Liza and Adam divorced again after marriage counseling was a bust. Liza and Tad rekindled their sexual relationship, but he had two other gals on his dance card (Simone and Krystal).

2004

Seeing what had become of JR, Liza decided that she had to get Colby out from under Adam's roof for the girl's own sake. With Tad's help, she adopted a new identity and went into hiding with her daughter.

2005

Jamie and Babe got some help from Liza while they were on the run. Liza disappeared again before Adam could catch up to her and Colby.

2006

Colby ran away from Liza — and to Pine Valley. Liza decided she had no choice but to let her daughter get to know her father.
