AS THE WORLD TURNS Interview

— Lorenzo Bevilaqua/PGP

Spotlight On...Gregory Michael (Clark, ATWT)

Digest: Was this your first time doing TV?
Michael: Yes. This is my first time doing a recurring role. I had worked with Disney, just doing holiday specials.

Digest: What was your family's reaction?
Michael: They were ecstatic. As I guess any family or friends should, they really support me and always have. They've always encouraged me to go for my goals and dreams. My mom was a performer when she was younger, so she looks at me and says, "This is what I always wanted to do. I wish I was doing it."

Digest: What are some of your most memorable moments?
Michael: I've been doing some stunt work this week, and that's a lot of fun — getting into the fights and getting thrown around. My character was a good guy, but now he has this other side coming out of him. I love working with Peyton [List, Lucy], Agim [Kaba, Aaron] and Jessica [Dunphy, Alison]. We all really work well together and we get along outside of work. We can have fun in the green room or when we're not taping.

Digest: Is there anyone you'd like to work with who you haven't yet?
Michael: I think I'm going to be working with him soon — Bailey Chase [Chris]. But all of the people I've wanted to work with I have.

Digest: Would you do another soap?
Michael: I'm always open to anything. I love working on this soap and if other opportunities arise, I'm totally for it. It's definitely a fun experience and a learning experience.

Digest: Have you gotten any response from fans?
Michael: I was just in Florida, and I was walking around Disney World and got stopped a couple of times. It was really, really cool. I didn't expect it, because I wasn't on every day, but people recognized me and know stuff about the character. That was surprising to me. They were cool fans. They always want to know what's going to happen. I can say I don't know too much and I can't say too much. It's cool to tell people the character is changing. He's not the Eddie Haskell from next door that everyone thought he was.

Digest: You seem to love Disney!
Michael: I used to work there and all my friends work there, so they get me in. It's a wonderland. I go there and I still feel like a little kid. I start running. I try to get back a couple of times a year.

Digest: What has been the hardest part about your job?
Michael: That's a tough question! I guess the hardest part is actually believing that I'm doing this. Sometimes, I wake up in the morning and go, "Gosh, I'm really doing what I've always dreamed of doing." That's hard to believe. It's not tough at all. I just try to do my best.
