Soap Opera Weekly: I think many viewers guessed the twist a while ago, but Hunter kissing Alison just took everyone by surprise — like, "Oh, my God, he's making out with his sister!"
Evan Alex Cole: When we filmed it, I had known for about a week or two. And that scene, it's pretty ... I mean, it's things that I wouldn't do with my sister [laughs]! So, even acting it, it was really hard for me to really put that aside. It was definitely a challenge. Marnie [Schulenburg, Alison] is awesome, so you just play it and make things happen.

Weekly: It's crazy that the show went that far to throw viewers off the trail, but it must also be awesome to take that kind of risk as an actor.
Cole: Yeah, and the scenes were very fun. The scenes [after the reveal of Hunter's parentage] are probably some of my favorites on the show that I've filmed thus far, because they were just about biting the bullet and going with the moment. It could be great; it could be something else. Who knows?

Weekly: It could be scarring for life! [laughs]>BR> Cole: No matter what, it's a crazy, fun reveal.

Weekly: Now we'll be seeing how Hunter relates to the Stewarts. I know Emily is going to want to try to build a relationship with him, but he's still so fragile.
Cole: I think that's the first hurdle. There is a lot of fragility and a lot of fear — particularly after the numerous rejections. This is pretty funny: My parents called me up the other day, after Hunter kissed Alison for the first time, and [my mom] was like, "What are you thinking?" My dad said, "Is every girl you kiss on the show going to say, 'What are you thinking?' after you do it?" So there's some paradigm shifts from [that type of rejection]. But when Emily comes to Hunter in her plea for a relationship, she definitely has an effect on Hunter. I've been watching this whole storyline, and I make sure to catch all of Kelley [Menighan Hensley]'s stuff, because I think she's really phenomenal.

Weekly: She's amazing, and this has got to be tough for Hunter. He grew up without a father, his mother was lost to him, emotionally, for many years, and then he physically lost her when she died. He's very much alone.
Cole: Yeah, there's nowhere to turn at all. It would be a big moment in anyone's life to find [out their true identity] — all triggered by his mother dying, and then finding out that, no, his mother's not dead, but she is [someone else]. It's an end and a beginning.
