ATWT's Most Noteworthy Guests

— By Naomi Rabinowitz

Jermaine Jackson and Whitney Houston, 1984

Jackson and his backup singer (!) Houston paid Oakdale a visit when Marcy (played by a pre-movie star Marisa Tomei) had a fantasy in which she was serenaded by the pair. The duo performed the tunes "Take Good Care Of My Heart" and "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do."

Tony Bennett, 1985

When Doug Cummings opened his posh restaurant Caroline's in Oakdale, Tony Bennett was on hand for the opening. During his appearance, the patrons (and viewers) were treated to him singing "Why Do People Fall In Love?" as well as "Somebody To Watch Over Me."

Johnny Mathis and Patti Austin, 1991

The Mona Lisa has been the scene of several musical acts, including an appearance from singer Melba Moore in 1986. However, in 1991, Mathis and Austin stopped by and performed a duet of Jessica and Duncan's song, "You Brought Me Love."

Brian McKnight, December 28, 1995

That New Year's Eve, Rosanna and Mike were having problems, but took a break from them when McKnight performed his version of their song, "Heart Don't Fail Me Now" at Yo's.

Musiq, December 9, 2003

R&B sensation Musiq appeared on ATWT for Ben and Jessica's wedding. During his visit, he sang his popular song, "Dontchange."

Ryan Cabrera, October 12, 2004

The up-and-coming crooner stopped by ATWT to perform at Club Metro. While he was there, he sang his hit tune "On The Way Down," which was from his debut CD Take It All Away.

Scott Reeves, March 9, 2005

Former daytimer Reeves (ex-Ryan, Y&R) has found much success in the country music industry with his band Blue County, but he relished the chance to appear on another CBS soap. The group came to Oakdale in 2005 (as themselves) and performed "Nothin' But Cowboy Boots" at Jennifer's Street Jeans party.

Andy Williams, July 5, 9 and 10, 2007

Jennifer Landon Andy Williams
Gwen (Jennifer Landon) and Andy Williams.
— PGP

In one of ATWT's more bizarre storylines, Gwen's look-alike, Cleo, tried to take over the singer's life (and kill Gwen in the process) while they were visiting Branson, MO. She ended up on stage during what was supposed to be Gwen's performance with country singer Andy Williams. Eventually she was arrested and the real Gwen got to sing "What The World Needs Now Is Love" with Williams.

Cyndi Lauper, July 3, 2008

When Lauper visited Yo's this past summer, she not only performed her hit tune "True Colors," as well as the title track from her new CD "Bring Ya To The Brink"; she offered up some romantic advice to Luke and Noah, who were on the outs. "If he really cares, it won't be so easy for him to forget his Luciano," she noted of Noah. She was right; soon after, the guys made up and kissed.
