1982
Craig (then portrayed by Scott Bryce) arrived in Oakdale and was immediately smitten with Betsy. Jealous of Betsy and Steve, Craig planted a bomb in Steve's truck. Unfortunately, his plan backfired and in trying to rescue Betsy, he was caught in the explosion and became sterile.

1983
Craig and Betsy married and he continued to hide his sterility from his wife. When she wound up pregnant with Steve's baby, he let her believe that the baby was his. Vowing vengeance on Steve, Craig set him up for a coin robbery. He also embezzled money from the nightclub he owned with Diana McColl. In his desperation to keep his wife, Craig faked a fall down the stairs which left him "paralyzed." He also invested and lost Betsy's trust fund without her knowledge.

1984
After a major storm damaged Betsy's boathouse, Craig seized the opportunity to get rid of Steve once and for all. He loosened a beam to fall on Steve's head but again the plan failed. He later destroyed the construction site put up in its place. He later kidnapped his stepdaughter, Danielle, and blackmailed Betsy into staying married to him. He turned himself in to the police and was sentenced to five years in a halfway house, but he was granted an early release.

1985
Craig, who was now sleeping with Lucinda Walsh, flew to Montega to find her daughter, Sierra Esteban. He quickly fell for her and then discovered that she was Lucinda's daughter. He kept her parentage and his involvement with Lucinda from his new love. He also was to blame in a hit-and-run involving none other than his daughter's future lover, Dusty Donovan.

1986-2000
Craig attempted to settle down with Sierra and the two had a son, Bryant (Craig had surgery to correct his sterility). The two eventually left Oakdale to live a life together with their blossoming family. Though their marriage was bumpy and Craig was unfaithful, his family inspired him to obey the law — at least for a little while.

2000
Craig returned to Oakdale (played by Hunt Block) and to his bad roots as he quickly started trouble. He embezzled money from his son Bryant's trust fund.
