During New York City's illustrious Fashion Week, top designers unveil their newest collections to the world. Even though Bryant Park is the place to be for these fashion shows, there are still myriad events happening throughout Manhattan. BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL's Emmy-winning costume designer, Birgit Muller accepted an offer to show off her own impressive creations at the Prince George Ballroom. Here, she talks about her exciting Big Apple foray that took place on September 6.

SOAP OPERA DIGEST: How did this fashion show become a reality in the first place?
BIRGIT MULLER: Nolcha [Group, www.nolcha.com] approached me. The idea behind the organization is very good — they help launch talented designers who cannot afford to show at Bryant Park.

DIGEST: You have already staged several successful fashion shows outside of B&B. Why haven't you conquered Bryant Park?
MULLER: I always wanted to show at Bryant Park during Fashion Week, but I don't really have the time to set it up since B&B is a full-time job.

DIGEST: Your clothes for this fashion show were very glamorous and classic. Did you have a theme in mind?
MULLER: It was all about old Hollywood glamour. And if you watched the [Prime-time] Emmys, you could tell all that is coming back in a big way. There was a lot of gold and silver on the red carpet.

DIGEST: Have any of the dresses appeared on B&B before or will any show up at a later Forrester fashion show?
MULLER: More than half have been seen on B&B before. Maybe one or two will be in an upcoming fashion show.

DIGEST: Which dress gave you the most trouble to finish?
MULLER: The [show-stopping] wedding dress took 150 hours to bead, but this was some time ago. We were going to make one like it with some minor changes, but then decided to use this one because it has some history.

DIGEST: What kind of history?
MULLER: Well, it was a secret, but that was my own wedding dress. It is also good for my clients to know that I will wear my own designs. A lot of designers do not.

DIGEST: Did you dump any dresses or designs at the last minute?
MULLER: Yes, a couple of the dresses because they just did not look right on the models.

DIGEST: Which was your favorite design?
MULLER: An exotic-looking pink and fuchsia dress that was made out of vintage Indian fabrics. I am proud of it because it is truly original. I don't think anyone has done anything like it. It was also worn by Sandra Vidal [ex-Sofia] to the Grammys.

DIGEST: Did any last-minute problems crop up?
MULLER: The Wednesday morning fittings got pushed to Thursday morning. Then Thursday they told me they did not have the models I asked for or shoes they had told me they would provide. And there was a cab strike in New York!

DIGEST: You had some dazzling jewelry on some of the models. Where did you get your accessories?
MULLER: OTAZU made my accessories. I am so lucky! [Rodrigo Otazu] is brilliant! He makes jewelry and headpieces for Christina Aguilera and Christian Lacroix. He is based in Amsterdam. Truly couture pieces!

DIGEST: What is your overall feeling about the show and your efforts?
MULLER: I did it and now I am ready for Bryant Park. Actually, we are talking to City of Hope [Cancer Center] and a museum in New York to do a charity gala next season during Fashion Week and I get to produce it.

DIGEST: So, you'll do this again?
MULLER: Yes, and I promise you will love the next one!
