BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL Interview
B&B's Adrienne Frantz: Christmas is for Giving— By Deanna Barnert As far as THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL's Adrienne Frantz (Amber) is concerned, 'tis the season to be jolly...and do a bit of good for those in need!
Frantz 'fessed up to her love/hate relationship with shopping in Weekly's Copy This Look, but when it comes to Christmas, it's all about the love. "Every year I go to the battered women and children shelter," says Frantz. "My mom (Vickie) works there, so I have her get all the 80 kids to make out a list of what they want for Christmas. Then, my boyfriend (Johnny Reznick of the Goo Goo Dolls) and I go out and buy all the kids exactly what they want, so they can get PlayStations, guitars or whatever the hell they usually wouldn't be able to get. They each get three reasonable gifts, or just [something big like the] PlayStation."
Once Frantz and Reznick have gathered their holiday loot for the shelter, they call in the troops for backup. "It's a lot of presents," laughs Frantz. "So the two nights before Christmas, we have a wrapping party. We invite all our friends to come over and help us wrap the presents and put names on them. Then, the night before Christmas, we go to the shelter dressed as Santa and an elf and give out the gifts."
Many of these kids already know the truth about Santa and some even recognize the superstar couple. "But we tell them to keep it quiet, because the little kids think we're Santa and an elf," explains Frantz, who says the payoff for the shopping spree is priceless. "It's pretty cool to see all their faces light up!"
