10 Killer Storylines
4. Emma Marshall's Murder, 1986
Shane broke off his engagement to Kimberly when he learned that she might be carrying Victor's child. His ex-wife, Emma (Jane Windsor), then switched the paternity-test results to make it appear that Victor was the father. Kimberly went into labor and reunited with Shane; a furious Emma tricked her into signing adoption papers and sold baby Andrew on the black market. Emma was caught and arrested, but their son was missing; Emma was then murdered, with Kim as the prime suspect. Shane learned that his ISA partner, Gillian, had killed Emma and framed Kim in an effort to break up the couple. They brought her down, were reunited with their son and wed (though they're now divorced).

5. Duke Johnson's Murder, 1987
After her abusive father raped her, Adrienne Johnson (Judi Evans) shot and killed Duke; she then passed out. Her brother Patch (Stephen Nichols) took the rap for her, while she blocked out the incident. She remembered everything right before he was about to head to prison, but the judge declared that she had acted in self defense and was therefore innocent.

6. The Riverfront Knifer, 1987-88
Sen. Harper Deveraux's (Joseph Campanella) murderous side emerged while trying to keep the biological family of his adopted son, Jack, a secret. When he feared that Jack's nurse, Kayla, knew the truth, he tried to poison her (and framed Melissa for the crime). But finding that his wife, Angelica, was carrying another man's child caused him to go all the way over the edge. He went after the women of Salem and killed five, including several hookers. He eventually held Kayla and her sister, Kim, hostage, but was apprehended by Patch and Shane.
