10 Killer Storylines

7. Curtis Reed's Murder, 1994
Curtis terrorized his daughter, Billie (Lisa Rinna), and ex-wife, Kate, so naturally, both were suspected of murder when his body was found. The fact that he'd been shot with Billie's gun, that she'd fought with him the night before and couldn't remember what she'd done (he'd drugged her) didn't help her case. Turns out one of Stefano's henchmen had offed him during a fight, but was never held accountable.

8. The Killing Pool, 1998
When "Kristen" was found dead in the Blake pool, Laura was the prime suspect. She had shot at "Kristen" (Eileen Davidson) to get revenge on the DiMeras (for killing her daughter, Jennifer, who turned out to be alive). However, no bullet wounds were found on the corpse, so Laura wasn't the murderer. Turns out that Edmund, the significant other of Kristen's look-alike, Susan, had committed the crime. Upon hearing the gunshots, he'd gone to the Blake house and confronted "Kristen," then accidentally drowned her in the pool. It wasn't Kristen, though, who'd died: It was Susan's long-lost sister, Penelope. Susan, who had escaped after been held hostage in the Caribbean while Kristen had been impersonating her, arranged for Kristen to be imprisoned in her place. She then forgave Edmund for his crime, and they wed. Kristen is still imprisoned and is still presumed dead.

9. Franco Kelly's Murder, 1999
Sami (Alison Sweeney), declared that she wanted to kill her fiance, Franco, when she learned that he'd cheated on her. Meanwhile, Lucas actually did murder the Italian import when Franco attacked Kate. When Sami spied Franco's body, she passed out; Kate placed the gun by her, making Sami look like the murderer. Sami was spared death by lethal injection in the nick of time when a guilty Lucas announced that he'd committed the crime, and Kate managed to get a "confession" out of Franco's dying mob associate, Roberto. Lucas reneged on his confession, and to this day, the true identity of Franco's killer remains unknown to the rest of Salem.

10. Chaos At The Coronation, 2001
Nearly everyone from Salem gathered in France to attend Greta's (Julianne Morris) coronation as princess. But Charles, caretaker of the von Amberg estate, wanted to kill Greta so he could get the family money. Meanwhile, a vengeful Kate put out hits on Sami and Victor, and Vincent Moroni wanted to kill son-in-law Brandon because Brandon wasn't in love with wife Angela, but with Sami. In the middle of the ceremony, Charles shot at Greta. The hit men then went after their targets, but ended up shooting at all of the guests. Greta, Mimi, Victor and John were shot; several party-goers died, including Angela. Greta, Mimi and John survived their injuries. Victor, it turned out, had staged his own death so he could get revenge on Kate.
