As his character searches for new meaning and inspiration in Port Charles, GENERAL HOSPITAL's Ted King (Alcazar) is willing to go on the record about one of his own driving passions.

"I collect LPs, but only if they're pretty high quality," he explains. "I don't go back and dig through the bins." The aficionado can't help but admit to a bit of audio elitism. "People who are really into the high end of listening, audiophiles, are into LPs," he confides, noting that vinyl albums "have a warmer sound than CDs.

"I have tons of jazz records: John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis. I could go on and on," he assures. "I got into music when I was a little boy. My dad was always into jazz. I got my education from him. The first time I listened to jazz, he gave me a Thelonious Monk record. It was so different from anything I had ever heard. It took me a while to understand it, and I liked that. I liked the fact that it wasn't immediately palatable. It was something that challenged my way of thinking. That's sort of what stuck with me this whole time."

And that helped fuel his ever-growing record collection. "I probably have about 100. I started a few years ago," King says. "You have to have a bit of money to do it."

So, does he have dough enough saved up to get that one elusive LP he’s always wanted? Well, the actor shies away from sharing what he craves on vinyl. "People send me CDs all the time because I love music. It's great. I listen to them in my dressing room or in my car," he assures. But the LPs he wants are a personal matter. "I hesitate to put that out there because I’m afraid someone would send it to me. I don't want people to do that."
