Red-handed! The morning after, Luke arrived on their doorstep. Port Charles had been unaware that Luke survived the avalanche, but was left paralyzed. Upon hearing of his "demise," Luke decided to stay away in order not to be a burden to his loved ones. It took months of grueling rehabilitation, but Luke learned to walk again. He was devastated to learn that his best friend had married his girlfriend. Holly regretted hurting Luke, but she and Robert stayed married and fell deeper in love.

In The Pink: The arrival of Robert's first wife, Anna, in 1985, complicated their union. Anna befriended Holly without revealing her link to Robert. Upon learning the truth, Holly left him and returned to England. They reconciled later that year and planned to start life anew in Australia. Holly went on ahead while Robert stayed in town to tie up some loose ends as police commissioner. Just as he was set to depart, Anna's young daughter, Robin, showed up and Scorpio was stunned to learn that the pixie was his child. He extended his stay in P.C. after Robin was abducted. Once she was safe and sound, he left for Down Under. Scorpio returned shortly thereafter with the tragic news that Holly had died in a plane crash.

True Colors: In 1992, Robert attended a birthday party thrown by Dominique Taub for his brother, Mac. During a blackout, he came face-to-face with Dom's neighbor, Sabrina. "Sabrina" was Holly! Holly explained that she hadn't died in the plane crash. She'd gone to England to see her family and was left comatose after a car accident. When she recovered, Holly learned that Robert had remarried Anna, so she decided not to ruin the new life that he'd made for himself. Holly had returned to her con artist ways and was back in the States to purloin a priceless stamp from Dominique's collection. She teamed with Robert and Anna to bring down the dastardly Cesar Faison, who was in possession of the cherished item. After Faison kidnapped Anna, Robert hit the road in hot pursuit. News trickled back to P.C. that the trio was killed in a boat explosion. Holly exited the following year.

Robert and Holly crossed paths again in February 2006, when Robert resurfaced to aid in the fight against a deadly virus that was consuming P.C., and Holly was attempting to profit from the disease's vaccine. Holly flirted with both Luke and Robert, but was eventually arrested for her extortion attempt. In May, the three reunited again for a jungle adventure in the Maarkham Islands, where Holly still relished having her top two men vying for her attention.
