Fan-tastic!

Any real soap fan has a story to tell about meeting his/her favorite star, and Tami Edwards is no different. The longtime fan attended the GENERAL HOSPITAL fan club weekend in Los Angeles last August with her sister, Susan Rice, and got up close and personal with Steve Burton (Jason).

"It was a blast. It was such fun," beams Edwards. "This is actually the first time I had ever gone to something like this."

And Burton did not disappoint. "Steve was so kind," Edwards asserts. "You have to remember that this is just TV and they are real people. You worry that they are going to be stars, maybe they will be stuck-up or rude, and none of them were like that."

Edwards recalls that Burton took the time to chat with each and every one of his fans on the autograph line. "It was getting towards the end of the night and there were still a lot of people. The lady on the announcement was saying, 'OK, remember: one question, one picture, say goodbye'. And he kept giving her a dirty look. He was like, 'I will take my time.'"

So it was well worth the trip from Clovis, Calif. for Edwards, who traveled to her sister's house three-and-a-half hours away in Simi Valley and attended the event from there. "I've been watching GENERAL HOSPITAL since I was in a car seat!" she says. "My mom actually started watching the show when it first aired."

However, it was not Edwards' first run-in with a GH star. "I met Lynn Herring (ex-Lucy) in Fresno," she notes. "The Fresno Zoological Society has an ice cream social every year and she was at one of them. I wasn't sure at first if it was her, because she was so thin. But then she did something with her hands, and I said, 'Oh, that's her!' I walked up and I went, 'Are you who I think you are?' Her friend standing next to her said, 'No, I am!' Then Lynn laughed and said, 'No, it's me!'"
