Couple In Question: Matt and Vanessa
When They Met: Vanessa had gone away to the Chamberlin family retreat in 1994. While there, Matt came to Vanessa's rescue during a poker game. They went boating and made love in a cave before Vanessa returned to Springfield; Matt followed her.
Their Rocky Road: The two carried on a relationship in secret, but went public the following year. Although the arrival of her daughter, Dinah, caused waves, Matt and Vanessa remained solid and married in 1995. Soon after, Vanessa learned that she had a debilitating disease. She faked her death, but Matt refused to move on. While building Van's dream home, he found an online friend in Tess, who was really Vanessa. Matt realized who it was and searched for her in vain. The two eventually reconnected at their new house.
Memorable Moment: On New Year's Day, 1995, Vanessa feared that Matt had perished in the Fifth Street fire. When he emerged unharmed, she impulsively kissed him, thus publicizing the romance.

Where Are They Now? In 2002, the family moved to Europe, in part because Vanessa wanted to take care of Dinah. The still-married couple has made separate visits to Springfield over the years.

Couple In Question: Phillip and Beth
When They Met: Shy Beth met rich boy Phillip at Cedars Hospital in 1983.
Their Rocky Road: Although she dated his pal, Rick, while Phillip courted Mindy, the world could see that they were meant to be, and the duo was crowned Prom King and Queen. Phillip saved Beth from her abusive stepfather, but the two parted ways when Phillip married a pregnant Mindy. Before Phillip and Beth could reconcile, she was presumed dead in a boat explosion in 1986. Fast-forward three years, when Phillip believed that he had seen Beth's artwork appear around town. His then-wife, Blake, committed Phillip to a sanatorium, where he came face-to-face with a very-much-alive Beth. At first, Beth could neither remember her past nor speak (and had hooked up with Neil), but Phillip managed to win her back. They left town in 1991, and although they separately came back to Springfield as free agents, they never completely got over their love.
Memorable Moment: While on the run from Bradley, Phillip and Beth dressed as Romeo and Juliet and re-enacted key scenes in Central Park.

Where Are They Now: Beth still has not recovered from Phillip's 2004 murder.

Couple In Question: Ross and Blake
When They Met: Technically, they met in 1979, when Blake was a child. Ross defended her father, Roger, who had raped her mother, Holly. The two didn't start a romantic relationship until 1992, when Blake seduced Ross, hoping to get back at mom Holly.
Their Rocky Road: The night of the blackout, the two consummated their relationship. Soon, Ross won the senate seat, but gave it up to put Blake first. Although Blake's insecurities caused problems galore (including her sleeping with Alan-Michael, Rick, Ben....), she and Ross endured.
Memorable Moment: In 1992, Holly walked in the morning after Ross and Blake had shared a night of passion. Holly went ballistic and it took several years for mother and daughter to repair their relationship.

Offspring: Twins Kevin and Jason (1996) and Clarissa (1999)
Where Are They Now: 2004's appearance of Dinah and Sebastian rocked their marriage, but Ross and Blake seem to be going steady these days.

Couple In Question: Frank and Eleni
When They Met: Uncle Stavros brought Eleni over from Greece to be Frank's bride in 1991.
Their Rocky Road: When Alan-Michael began to seduce this goddess, Frank wised up: He was in love with Eleni. Although Eleni had feelings for Frank, she mistakenly believed that his heart belonged to Blake. (Ironically, Frank was busy building a dreamhouse fit for Eleni.) A-M orchestrated it so Eleni had to marry him or else risk deportation. Despite this, she and Frank still carried a torch for each other and finally gave in to their passions. Surprise! Eleni was pregnant, but thought A-M was the father. She and Frank planned to run away, but after she learned that the baby was his, the two married in a lavish ceremony (the funds were donated anonymously by Buzz). They welcomed their daughter, Marina, that same day.
Memorable Moment: After secretly working on Eleni's dreamhouse for months, Frank trashed it in 1992, thinking he had lost her to Alan-Michael.

Where Are They Now: Frank and Eleni divorced in 2000 due to her affair.

Couple In Question: Kelly and Morgan
When They Met: In 1980, teenage Morgan fell for her tutor, Kelly.
Their Rocky Road: Kelly never believed Morgan could love a self-described ugly duckling like her. He did fall head over heels, but because they were dating others, they tried to push their feelings aside. Nola used their nobility to her advantage and tried to weasel her way into Kelly's heart. After Kelly saved Morgan from an evil Duke, Kelly and Morgan admitted their feelings and tied the knot.
Memorable Moment: The couple's long-overdue wedding at Laurel Falls was purely romantic.

Where Are They Now: In 1982, Josh broke up the couple and the two soon divorced. Morgan left in 1983, Kelly the following year.
