Where Are They Now?
Catching Up with Brittany Snow— By Gabrielle Winkel, Heather Filemyr Former GUIDING LIGHT sweetheart Brittany Snow (ex-Susan) has been dancing into living rooms for three years as Meg on AMERICAN DREAMS. Here, she fills us in on the first season DVD, her daytime past, and her new movie with Vin Diesel, THE PACIFIER. Snow's first major film, THE PACIFIER, recently debuted number one at the box office. "It was crazy. The moment that I finished AMERICAN DREAMS [last season], I went to Canada and I did THE PACIFIER for 4 1/2 months," she explains. "It was a long shoot because there were a lot of kids in the movie. It's THE NANNY meets THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Vin Diesel plays my bodyguard, and he has to take care of my character and her brothers and sisters. It's something very different, not of my norm." While shooting the film, Snow took a break to work on another project, recording extras for the AMERICAN DREAMS SEASON ONE DVD. "Vanessa [Lengies, Roxanne] and I went to a studio and we looked at the first episode of the first season, and the last episode of the first season, and [provided] commentary on both of those episodes, saying what we were thinking, what was funny, what was interesting, tidbits and facts that maybe people didn't know about that particular scene. We got into a lot of trouble," she laughs. "There were a few things that they couldn't even put on there. We were having too much fun. It was cool to look at the pilot episode and see how much we've changed and how much the show has changed." The DVD features extended performances from the series' musical guests. "On the show, when the guest stars come to do their performances, you don't get to see the entirety. [Now] the viewers can see exactly what the performers did and the whole concert of it, and enjoy the whole thing. I'm always sad when I see the episode, and I think, 'Oh, my gosh, we cut that out.' And now they get to see the whole thing and enjoy the performances," smiles Snow. Despite big-screen and small-screen successes, Snow hasn't forgotten her daytime roots. "Being on GUIDING LIGHT was the best time ever. I can't say enough about the people that I worked with. I'd loved to go back and say hi," she shares. AMERICAN DREAMS: SEASON ONE is available in stores nationwide for $89.98 and at amazon.com. New episodes air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. THE PACIFIER is in theaters nationwide.
