Bye, Georgie: Georgie (Jennifer Bransford) didn't last very long in Llanview. Also pictured: Paul Calderon as Agent Del.

Slash Fiction

7. Carlo Hesser's "murder," 1992
Plenty of characters had reason to kill Llanview's most notorious crime boss, Carlo, but Sarah — his one-time prisoner — became the prime suspect. Fortunately, Bo helped clear her. Carlo's niece, Stephanie (angry at him for killing her father), was revealed to be the murderer ... or maybe not since Hesser returned very much alive in 1996.

8. Georgie Phillips's murder, 1998
When Nora's psychotic assistant was found dead, Todd became the prime suspect. Determined to prove he wasn't the killer, Manning rounded up all of the other suspects and held them hostage in a cabin. Eventually, Nora's daughter, Rachel, 'fessed up to the crime, explaining that she'd offed Georgie in self-defense.

Sour Note: Wannabe reporter Jessica (Bree Williamson) failed to realize that her professor, Dr. Haver (Matthew Ashford) was actually the Music Box Killer.
— Steve Fenn/ABC

9. Mitch Laurence's murder, 2003
After a back-from-the-grave Mitch spent more than a year wreaking havoc in Llanview, more than a few people wished him dead, so it was no surprise when his corpse was found near the docks. The prime suspects were Walker (really Todd after plastic surgery) and Mitch's daughter, Jessica, but no one even cared enough to fully investigate the crime. To this day, the mystery of Mitch's murder (and whether he's even really dead this time) remains unresolved.

10. The Music Box Killer, 2003
Between Mitch and this guy, 2003 was a rather bleak year for Llanview. Right around Halloween, a serial murderer began strangling Llanviewian women and leaving a music box as a rather clunky calling card. The victims included sorority gal Madison, Gabrielle (who suffered the indignity of being offed while in the john), John's fiancée, Caitlin, and Flash (who actually lived, but needed throat surgery). The criminal ended up being Jessica's creepy journalism professor/mentor, Dr. Stephen Haver. He was eventually arrested, but not before brainwashing Jess and almost burning Rae alive.
