ONE LIFE TO LIVE Timeline

Unhappy Holidays

— By Lauren Flynn

ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Todd and Blair have never had it easy when it comes to making their relationship work, but Christmas seems to present a particular difficulty. Here's a timeline of holiday seasons gone awry for the tortured pair.

Friends With Benefits, 1994

Friends With Benefits, 1994: When a rocky year culminated in the death of his adoptive father, Peter Manning, Todd drowned his sorrows with fellow tortured soul, Blair. Calling themselves the Wild Hearts Losers Club, they became drinking buddies and took things to the next level on Christmas, when they made love at Dorian's penthouse. Afterward, Todd quickly got dressed and murmured, "Thanks for the Christmas present," before rushing out. They agreed to keep things casual, but as we know, that didn't last long!

Blue Christmas, 1995

Newlyweds Todd and Blair were making honeymoon plans when Todd fled to Ireland in search of Marty. She'd gone on the run with handsome stranger Patrick Thornhart, who was wanted by a dangerous terrorist group. Todd found Marty and sent her back to Llanview for her safety, but he was mistaken for Patrick and was shot and presumed dead. Back in Llanview, a pregnant Blair was in no mood for celebrating and skipped the annual Christmas pageant at St. James to stay home with Dorian and Kelly.

Life's Rich Pageant, 2001

While hiding out from the mob at Todd's penthouse (a scheme Todd cooked up to win her back), Blair started dating Sam even though she still had feelings for her ex-husband. Sam made sure she had a videotape of Starr's performance in the Christmas pageant, although Todd tried to pass off the sweet gesture as his own.

Last Christmas, 2003

While Todd was again presumed dead, Blair married newcomer "Walker," who was really Todd with extensive plastic surgery. On Christmas, Walker took Blair to Rodi's and asked a "hypothetical" question: If Todd was alive, would she give him a second chance? Knowing that Walker was really Todd, thanks to Dorian, she played along with his game and pretended to enjoy a romantic evening with Walker. But after tricking him into signing papers giving up custody of their children, she dropped the bombshell that she knows the truth and can never forgive him. "This was our last Christmas together and the next time you think of me, I'm going to be lying in Kevin's arms laughing at you!" she taunted.

The Nightmare Before Christmas, 2004

Blair was forced to eat her words when the couple reconciled halfway through 2004 and planned to marry at Christmastime. But on the eve of their wedding, Blair was in for a surprise when Todd left her a good-bye letter and disappeared. In reality, he'd been kidnapped by psycho Margaret Cochran, who stole one of Blair's wedding dresses and took him to a secluded cabin in the woods insisting that they exchange and consummate their own vows.

Stand By Your Man, 2005

Todd was incarcerated while awaiting trial for Margaret's murder, but Blair believed in his innocence and surprised him with a Christmas visit from their children. On New Year's Eve, she pulled some strings to be with him at midnight. "Let's hope next year is a helluva lot better than the last one," Todd smiled, just months before he was given a lethal injection on Death Row (which he survived, of course).

No More Drama, 2006

After Todd's kidnapping of Spencer ended with Blair and the evil doc falling off a roof, Blair spent Christmas in the hospital recovering from surgery. She and Todd were on the verge of reconciling just days earlier when Blair learned she was pregnant with his child, but after she suffering a miscarriage, she told Todd another shot at marriage would only cause her more pain.

Santa Baby, 2007

Things were looking good for once when the five-time married Mannings celebrated Christmas at La Boulaie. Before Todd headed off in search of his kidnapped son, Sam (then called Tommy), Blair gave "Santa" her Christmas wish list: Todd finds his son and brings him home, and she and Todd can have a real marriage. They did — for another six months.
