How I Got Hooked on Soaps: I got hooked through Luke and Laura's romance on GH.

Favorite Storylines of All Time: Luke and Laura on the run; Bo and Hope in New Orleans; Who Killed Diana Taylor on GH.
Favorite thing about the job: That it is fun, that the actors are cool, that I work with amazing people and that 14 years after I started, I still love coming to work.

How I Got This Job: I interned at Soap Opera Weekly the summer before my senior year at Smith College, then moved to New York after graduation and was hired by Soap Opera Digest shortly thereafter.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: Josh and Harley's short-lived but exquisite love story on GUIDING LIGHT; anything Anne Heche did on ANOTHER WORLD; Sonny and Brenda's GENERAL HOSPITAL romance.
If I could be any soap character, it would be: AMC's Brooke — a magazine editor whose work seems magically to get done on its own? Sounds good to me!
Favorite thing about the job: The wonderful people I've met — in the office, in the industry, and in the fan community.

What Shows I Cover: PASSIONS, GENERAL HOSPITAL
My Title at the Magazine: Assistant Managing Editor, Weekly
First Soap I Ever Watched: GENERAL HOSPITAL
Shows I've Covered: GENERAL HOSPITAL, PASSIONS, ALL MY CHILDREN, OLTL, THE CITY, SUNSET BEACH.
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: I became a latchkey kid in elementary school when my mom went back to work. One day I got home from school at 3:15, turned on the TV, and saw a bunch of people running around in search of the Ice Princess. It was love at first sight.
How I Got This Job: Started at Weekly as an intern, then worked for "the competition," then got hired back a few years later.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: On GH: Duke Lavery's debut/Bert Ramsey is Mr. B (1986), Duke Lavery's return/demise (1989-1990), WSB battles the DVX in Germ Warfare (1987); Robin, Anna, Faison, and the Alien (1990). On OLTL: Viki and her alters (ongoing); Mitch Laurence's cult (1986) Homophobia grips Llanview (1992).
If I could be any soap character, it would be: Duke Lavery, and why: He epitomized style, sophistication and romance, but still knew how to handle a gun and get the job done.
Favorite thing about the job: The people I work with/for; getting to write off my cable TV on my income taxes.

What Show I Cover: AS THE WORLD TURNS
My Title at the Magazine: Associate Editor, Weekly
First Soap I Ever Watched: GENERAL HOSPITAL.
Other Shows I've Covered: ALL MY CHILDREN, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, DAYS OF OUR LIVES.
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: Watching GENERAL HOSPITAL with my mom is one of my earliest memories, but I got hooked on soaps and started buying all the soap mags after I saw a preview of Bo rescuing Hope from her wedding to Larry on DAYS OF OUR LIVES as the song "Holding Out for a Hero" played. That was it — I started watching that day and never stopped, adding many other soaps along the way.
How I Got This Job: I always joked to friends and family that I would someday work for a soap opera magazine — and here I am! I did an internship at Weekly in the summer of 1996, and was hired as an Editorial Assistant after I graduated from college in 1997.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: Jack and Jennifer's love story on DAYS is my all-time favorite. From AMC, I loved Leo and Greenlee's relationship. On ATWT, I've enjoyed Simon and Katie's unlikely romance and lately, Dusty and Lucy. As for B&B, any of their gorgeous remotes! And just thinking about B.J.'s heart storyline on GH makes me want to cry.
If I could be any soap character, it would be: AMC's Greenlee and why: She's always paired up with hot guys, she has a fabulous wardrobe and has a great job. She's the perfect mix of being good and bad.
Favorite thing about the job: I love interviewing the actors, whether it's at the set, at an interview lunch or at events. (Plus, having a TV and VCR on my desk isn't so bad either!)

Jennifer Lenhart

Jennifer Lenhart
What Show I Cover: AS THE WORLD TURNS
My Title at the Magazine: Senior Editor, SOD
First Soap I Ever Watched: ALL MY CHILDREN, as a baby with Mom. The first soap I ever chose to watch myself: ANOTHER WORLD.
Shows I've Covered: ATWT, GUIDING LIGHT.
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: I saw Jamie rescue Lisa from evil Dr. Glaser on AW because a friend watched it; by that summer, when I was away on vacation, she was in charge of sending me a synopsis letter every couple of days. Brief obsessions with DAYS OF OUR LIVES and SANTA BARBARA followed.
How I Got This Job: I got a degree in magazine journalism, answered an ad, faked a bunch of soap knowledge in the interview and was hired as the receptionist. Two months later, I was assigned ATWT, which I'd never seen in my life.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: The love/hate romances: AW's Vicky and Ryan; SB's Julia and Mason (Lane Davies only); ATWT's Carly and Jack; GENERAL HOSPITAL's Sonny and Brenda — specifically the episode in which Lily died in an explosion at the exact moment that Brenda wed Jax. And ATWT was, in my opinion, the best soap on TV around December, 2003-January, 2004. I was also absolutely obsessed with DAWSON'S CREEK during season 3.
Favorite Thing About the Job: The best perk was the time that I got to walk around on the field and sit in the dugout at Yankee Stadium because of an ALL MY CHILDREN vs. ONE LIFE TO LIVE charity softball game.

Erica Brown

Erica Brown
What Show I Cover: ALL MY CHILDREN
My Title at the Magazine: Editorial Assistant, Weekly
First Soap I Ever Watched: ALL MY CHILDREN
Shows I've Covered: Just AMC. But I do watch them all!
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: My aunt introduced me to AMC when I was 10 years old. I quickly became a soapaholic and over the years added the entire line-up.
How I Got This Job: I interned at Weekly the summer of 2003, graduated from the University of Georgia in May of 2004 and was hired at Weekly shortly after.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: AMC — Tad and Dixie's love story; GH — Stone's AIDS and Maxie's heart transplant; B&B — The world of fashion; SUNSET BEACH — Shockwave...There are just so many!
If I could be any soap character, it would be: My namesake, Erica Kane, the queen of daytime. Plus, she has impecable clothes and shoes. :)
Favorite Thing About the Job: What's not to love? I work with amazing people, and I get paid to watch soap operas, interview actors, and do what I love to do.

Mike Bruno

Mike Bruno
What Show I Cover: ONE LIFE TO LIVE
My Title at the Magazine: Features Editor, SOD
First Soap I Ever Watched: DAYS
Shows I've Covered: Just OLTL
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: My sister used to tape them, and I would get stuck watching them with her at my parents' house when I dropped in to do laundry. One day I realized that I didn't have to ask her "Why's he doing that? Why's she hate that chick?" any more cuz I knew myself.
How I Got This Job: They needed some testosterone on the edit staff here.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: I really liked DAYS's John/Isabella, and I loved Sami screwing over Carrie to try and get Austin. I also thought AMC's "Janet From Another Planet" story was pretty cool.
If I could be any soap character, it would be: Sonny Corinthos, cuz he gets all the ladies and rocks fly suits.
Favorite thing about the job: I get to watch TV. In my office. As my job.

Heather Filemyr

Heather Filemyr
What Show I Cover: GUIDING LIGHT
My Title at the Magazine: Editorial Assistant, Weekly
First Soap I Ever Watched: GENERAL HOSPITAL
Shows I've Covered: Just GUIDING LIGHT
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: When I was in middle school, I fell in love with GH's Scott and Dominique and was devastated when Dominique died a few months later.
How I Got This Job: I interned at the magazine while a student at Middlebury College. A year after graduation, I interviewed for my current job and moved to New York just a few weeks later.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: Deacon and Bridget's romance on B&B — the first time around; anything involving OLTL's David and Dorian.
If I could be any soap character, it would be: OLTL's David — he's smart, sexy and gets all of the best lines.
Favorite Thing About the Job: The people; the actors and coworkers.

Dorothy Walsh

Dorothy Walsh
What Show I Cover: YOUNG AND RESTLESS
My Title at the Magazine: Editorial Assistant, SOD
First Soap I Ever Watched: ALL MY CHILDREN
Shows I've Covered: YOUNG AND RESTLESS
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: I was completely drawn into David and Anna losing Leora (I was shocked the baby actually died! That doesnt happen on sitcoms!) and then Bianca's rape on AMC, but I knew I was definitely hooked when I cried at Lila's memorial on GH.
How I Got This Job: My old babysitter and close friend worked at Digest and told me about a position being open after I graduated from college. I interviewed, interned for four months and then was hired as an editorial assistant.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: As a relative newcomer to soaps (although I'm a confessed WB addict and can tell you everything that ever happened on GILMORE GIRLS), I really was fascinated by the AMC/OLTL baby switch. Other favorite stories include anything with GL's Jonathan, YR's Gloria and GH's Lucky and Emily.
Favorite thing about the job: I love the people here, and I really enjoy coming into work every day. I'm getting a lot of writing experience in a field I never thought I would go into. Plus I have a TV on my desk...what could be better than that?

Mala Bhattacharjee
What Show I Cover: I do the chats, Web features, and some mag' writing for OLTL and do web features and bi-weekly recaps for GH.
My Title at the Magazine: Editorial Assistant
First Soap I Ever Watched: GENERAL HOSPITAL — from the womb! Now that's talent!
How I Got Hooked on Soaps: See above! Blame my mother, Robert Scorpio, and Frisco Jones. I watched every day after school and wound up picking up GUIDING LIGHT, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, AMC, and some DAYS over the years.
How I Got This Job: It involves a bookie named Stan, two goldfish, and a killer pasta puttanesca.
Favorite Storylines of All Time: BJ's heart and Stone's AIDS on GH and AMC's baby switch were definitely the most memorable. Great writing and lots of tears!
If I could be any soap character, it would be: Bianca on AMC or any character daring enough to date OLTL's Rex and GL's Jonathan.
Favorite thing about the job: Being able to write professionally. It's my passion!
