No. 11: Veronica Landers

Feminine Wiles: The presumed-dead wife of Dr. Joshua Landers, an unbalanced Veronica came to town after attempting to commit suicide by jumping in front of a car. She lived, had facial reconstruction, took the name "Sarah," and got a job as a maid in the home of Joshua and his wife, Nikki. Veronica fantasized about reuniting with Josh, but dated the Newman's butler, Miguel, to throw off suspicion. On a stormy night in 1998, Veronica revealed her true identity, but when Joshua rejected her, she shot him and nearly killed Nikki in the process. Veronica went into hiding, but when Nikki recovered, she made another attempt on her life. After a struggle with Victor, Veronica was impaled on a pitchfork and died.

No. 12: Rose DeVille

Played By: Darlene Conley (1979-80; 1986-87)

Feminine Wiles: A young, impressionable Nikki applied to be a model at Rose's Modeling Agency, unaware that the business was actually a front for a drug and prostitution ring. When Nikki took her first assignment, she was shocked to learn that the man she was meeting with was a john. When the man, Walter Addison, died at her feet of a heart attack, Rose dumped the body and threatened Nikki to keep her mouth shut. Rose upped the ante and hired a hit man to bump off Nikki's then-husband Greg, but he missed and shot Nikki's mother-in-law, Liz, by mistake. Rose fled town, but she resurfaced in 1986, when troubled teen Nina took refuge in Rose's boarding house, which this time was a front for a black market baby ring. When Nina became pregnant, Rose sold her baby to a wealthy couple and lied to Nina, saying the child had died at birth. Nina vowed to find her baby, but her hopes vanished when Rose hit the road again.
