YOUNG AND RESTLESS FeatureJack Of All Babes— By Naomi Rabinowitz Jack Abbott is eager to settle down as a husband and father (which he recently blew with his estranged wife, Sharon, thanks to his lies), but when the character first came on the show in 1980, he was quite the ladies' man. Here's a look back at his various romantic entanglements. Jack and Peggy, 1980John Abbott's womanizing son, Jack, arrived in Genoa City in 1980. He had an affair with the youngest of the Brooks sisters, Peggy, and she ended up leaving her fiancé Steve at the altar. Jack and Jill, 1981Jack didn't care for Peggy nearly as much as she did for him; he ended up spending the night with Jill Foster. When Jill complained that Jack was moving too fast for her, he moved on to Patty Williams. Jack and Patty/Diane, 1982-83
Jack juggled Patty and Jill, as well as several Jabot models. Patty was upset with his womanizing ways, but stuck with him and they became engaged. However, the night before their wedding, he got drunk and slept with model Diane Jenkins. He and Patty tied the knot (thanks to his sister Ashley dragging him out of bed so he'd make it to the ceremony on time), but the next year, Patty caught Jack and Diane going at it in his office. Patty rushed out and tripped over a plant ... which caused her to miscarry. After getting released from the hospital, she plugged her wayward hubby with three bullets. She briefly blocked out the incident but once she recalled everything, she divorced Jack and left town. Jack and Jill, Take II, 1983After divorcing Patty, Jack rescued Jill — who was wed to Jack's father, John — from a snow storm. They then hooked up again while taking refuge in a bungalow, unaware that Abbott family “friend,” Lindsey Wells, was snapping racy photos of them. Jack and Lindsey, 1984Lindsey blackmailed her way into a position at Jabot. Jack then married her so she'd hand over the pics. The next morning, he informed her that the marriage had been a fake. Lindsey got even by selling the photos (she still had the negatives) to Katherine. Kay eventually showed John the photos; he ended up having a stroke and later divorced Jill. Jack and Nikki, 1986Jack first hooked up with his rival Victor Newman's ex-wife in 1986; however she wanted a commitment while he didn't. Plus, Nikki still had unresolved feelings for Victor. Jack and Lauren, 1989Jack and Lauren had a brief thing when she accompanied him on a ski trip. While there, Lauren learned that Lisa was holding Brad prisoner in a cage; Lisa then took Lauren hostage, as well. Jack rescued them and the trio returned home safely. Jack and Nikki, Take II, 1990-94Just as Nikki's ex-husband, Victor, was about to propose to her again, Nikki wed Jack. Victor offered to return Jabot to the Abbotts in exchange for Nikki and Jack accepted. Nikki was furious that she was a pawn in this exchange. Jack got back into her good graces when he rescued Nikki and Victor's young daughter, Victoria, from drowning. Nikki then became pregnant with Jack's child; though she still harbored feelings for Victor, she decided to stick with Jack for the sake of their baby. Sadly, she miscarried the child after taking a spill while horseback riding (which she did to clear her head over her confused feelings for Victor). She hurt her back and became addicted to alcohol and painkillers. Jack convinced her to go to rehab in 1991. However, in 1992, Nikki overdosed and had to be rushed to the hospital. There, she underwent — and survived — risky back surgery. While recovering, she grew closer to Victor. Newman again proposed to her that year, but she then learned that she was once again carrying Jack's child. The next year, she and Victor got into an argument about Victoria and Nikki fell down a flight of stairs. She and Jack lost another baby and he blamed Victor. With everything that had happened, Jack and Nikki were unable to make their marriage stick and divorced in 1994. Jack and Mari Jo, 1994Jack quickly moved on from Nikki and became engaged to Jabot employee, Mari Jo. He ended things, though, when he learned that Mari Jo was involved with his sister Ashley's husband, Blade. Mari Jo was eventually institutionalized in 1996 for attempting to kill Victor and for kidnapping Christine. Jack and Luan, 1994-961994 was a busy year for Jack, who split from Nikki and Mari Jo. He then reunited with Luan, the woman he'd fallen in love with while he was over in Vietnam during the war. Luan revealed that she and Jack had a now-adult son, Keemo. Mari Jo attempted to break them up, but he wed Luan in 1995. Sadly, his wife died from a terminal illness the following year. Jack and Diane, 1996-97Diane returned in 1996, hoping that she could reunite with Jack. He proposed to her the next year ... but she ended up marrying Victor instead. Jack and Phyllis, 2000-03
In 2000, Phyllis returned to Genoa City after a three-year absence and was hired by Jack to run Jabot Cosmetics Web site. While working together, they fell in love; she became pregnant with his baby, but then suffered an ectopic pregnancy. Jack stood by her and they wed on Christmas Eve, 2001. The next year, Diane revealed that she'd been impregnated with Jack's sperm and he was the father of her son, Kyle. A custody battle ensued, and the ladies plotted against each other. Phyllis and Jack also disagreed about business matters, including her decision to testify on Victor's behalf at his commercial bribery trial. With too much bad blood between them, Jack and Phyllis finally divorced in 2003. However, they're still on friendly terms, and in 2006, he even delivered her daughter (with Nick) while he and Phyllis were trapped in an elevator during an ice storm. Jack and Carmen, 2006Jack was drawn to Newman Enterprises new public relations executive, Carmen, and they enjoyed a few nights together. However, she was really interested in Neil ... and was then murdered by Jana in November, 2006. Jack and Sharon, 2007-09
After Phyllis and Nick wed in late 2006, their ex-spouses, Jack and Sharon, turned to each other for comfort. Their friendship turned to love and they wed in April, 2007. However, their marriage was plagued with problems from the start, including her lingering feelings for Nick, and Jack's tendency to lie and scheme behind Sharon's back. In early 2009, after learning that Jack worked with Adam to forge Victor's journals, Sharon decided to file for divorce. The split hasn't been finalized, though, and Jack's been eager to stay in her life — especially since Sharon's been having a difficult time dealing with the aftermath of Brad's death.
