Porn Free— By Mark McGarry John Enos is leaving the gym dressed in a purple Adidas sweatsuit. He looks more like Paulie Walnuts from The Sopranos (except for the matinee-idol good looks, of course) than Bobby Marsino, but rumors persist that Enos is just playing himself on The Young and the Restless.
"Bobby Marsino? I am Bobby Marsino?" scoffs Enos of his strip-club owning, temper-flaring, girl-chasing alter ego. "If I have to dress up for an event, then yeah, I've got the jewelry on. When I went to the San Gennaro feast out here, I pretty much looked like Bobby Marsino. But aside from the opening night at an Italian feast, I don't think you will see me dressed like that too often. It would be a lot of work to be Bobby." There is one irrefutable similarity, however: Both men attract women. Lots and lots of women. At a recent event, for example, he had a lady draped on each arm (see sidebar). He also created a stir at Y&R's fan club luncheon last August when he greeted fans with ex-Hollywood madame Heidi Fleiss by his side. "She just showed up there, I didn't bring her," Enos swears.
Nothing is off-limits today for the actor, except the subject of Madonna. But even when Enos wants to dodge a question about his reported ex, he doesn't just say, "No comment"-- he gives a side-splitting, completely unrehearsed one-liner. For instance, on whether he dated Madonna, he winks: "I like to stay current, like within the last 10 years, in my interviews."
In fact, he is often funny without even knowing it. Like when he recalls his infamous Sex and the City guest-spot in which he played the real Mr. Big, a well-endowed playboy who was too much even for slutty Samantha. "I didn't [blush] taping it, but then I was watching it going, 'My mother is going to see my ass again....the poor thing!' She probably hadn't seen it in 20 years, and she didn't really need to." Did she catch the episode? "She has it on tape."
Enos says that stint "comes in handy once in a while. Just the other day I was at the Playboy Mansion and all the right people saw it, so.... I know a lot chicks down there. It is not like a pick-up thing or anything like that. They are just friends, and you know...."
Being a regular at the Playboy Mansion is one reason the actor seems to know his way around a strip club. But he was also an original partner in the famed L.A. nightclub Roxbury. "I spent most of my time downstairs in a blues bar that we had," he recalls. "It was a separate room called Johnny's Joint. I had all of these old blues bands playing in there. We had the neon signs on the wall, and Boone's and long-neck beers. So it was a far cry from Marsino's. I mean, don't get me wrong, we had girls dancing on tables, there just weren't any poles."
