YOUNG AND RESTLESS Interviews
Sharon Case Goes Rustic— By Deanna Barnert THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS' Sharon Case (Sharon) was sick of getting vicious mosquito bites that she had to hide from the camera, so she took action. "We have a mosquito problem in the area I live in and always have; it's mosquito-infested!" Case groans. "Seriously, it was making my life nuts. We've been hearing [the buzzing around our heads] at 3 in the morning, disturbing our sleep. We get up, turn on the lights and it's, 'Kill that thing: I can't sleep this way!' Meanwhile, you're all bitten up and now it smells like Raid. It's disturbing." It got so bad, she and new hubby Sandy sometimes abandoned their bedroom. "We'd get up and go sleep in the other room instead, or decide to sleep in the other room to begin with," she recalls. "We usually keep the doors to the other bedrooms closed for air-conditioning reasons. That means there are no mosquitoes in them." Case came up with a better solution. "I broke down and got a mosquito net for my bed," she reveals. "It hangs from the ceiling and comes over the whole bed. It's rather unsightly." But does it work? "Oh, my God, yes," she raves. "I finally slept well. What have I been waiting for all these years? It's going to be my new summer tradition to break out the mosquito net." She'll save a bundle on calamine lotion, for sure.
