Fall, 2005
Daniel was declared innocent, but Lily's parents, Neil and Dru, still didn't trust him. Lily and Daniel continued to sneak around and made love for the first time ... and their parents caught them in bed together. Yikes! The Winterses solved their "problem" by sending Lily to boarding school in New Hampshire. She and Daniel shared a sad good-bye, but managed to keep in touch via e-mail.

Winter, 2006
Lily returned to Genoa City and convinced her folks to let her finish school in town. However, they still disapproved of her relationship with Daniel. To prove how serious they were about each other, the teens eloped. At first, the Winterses tried to end the marriage and cut Lily off financially, but the newlyweds were determined to make it. Lily also got Dru to side with her when she learned that Dru had been keeping the fact that Malcolm is Lily's father from Neil. Meanwhile, Lily and Daniel got jobs (Daniel accepted a position in the Newman mailroom; Lily found work in Lauren's boutique) and endured living in a shack. Then Lily flunked physics and wasn't able to graduate from high school unless she made up the class during the summer.

Summer/Fall, 2006
Lily passed physics and was able to graduate, which thrilled her parents. Eventually, Neil and Dru began to come around and accept Daniel as a family member. Then Alex came to town, which made Daniel 'fess up to his role in his and Kevin's scheme. Dru and Neil urged Lily to get a divorce, but she forgave him. When Neil learned the truth about Lily's paternity and his marriage to Dru began to fall apart, Daniel was on hand to support Lily, which deepened their relationship.
