As in most soap operas, paternity plots — particularly "Who’s the daddy?" stories — have been a staple at YOUNG AND RESTLESS. In honor of Sharon’s recent pregnancy dilemma, here's a look back at some of the show's most memorable baby tales.

1994

Malcolm, who had a secret crush on Drucilla, took advantage of her when she was drugged on cold meds and thought that she was making love to Neil. As fate would have it, Dru turned up pregnant. Eventually, she remembered her night of passion with Malcolm, but they both agreed that Neil would assume the role of the baby-to-be's father. Years later, a paternity test revealed that Malcolm was Lily's real dad and the truth was exposed. However, Lily and Neil agreed that they would always be father/daughter in their hearts.

2000

Ashley returned from a cruise and announced she was pregnant by her old friend, Christian. By the time Abby was born, everyone fell for her sketchy story, including hubby Brad, who agreed to raise the baby as his own. Years later, when Ashley came down with breast cancer, she finally revealed the real story behind Abby's conception. She had stolen Victor's stored sperm, and he was actually Abby's biological daddy.

2001

Diane decided she wanted to become a mother after marrying Victor, but learned that he'd had a vasectomy. Diane also learned that Victor had made a deposit to a sperm bank prior to the procedure. Meanwhile, Victor persuaded Diane to give him a quickie divorce so he could remarry Nikki, who had been shot and was on her deathbed. He wanted his ex to die happily. When Nikki survived and Victor decided to stay with her, Diane wanted revenge for being duped. She stole what she thought was the sample of Victor's sperm from the lab and was artificially inseminated. Little did she know that the sperm samples had been switched. It was later revealed that Jack was the father of Diane's son, Kyle.

2006

Phyllis turned up pregnant after her steamy affair with Nick, but admitted that the child could also be hubby Jack's. Nick immediately took a paternity test. Upon receiving the results, he disappeared to mull over his options. When he resurfaced, Nick told Phyllis he was her child's father, but that he had every intention of staying with Sharon and their family. Jack was devastated, since he had always hoped to reconcile with Phyllis. After learning the truth about Phyllis and Nick's love child, Sharon filed for divorce, and Nick and Phyllis eloped.

2007

Although Victoria and Brad were expecting a baby, Brad couldn't stay away from Sharon. A suspicious Victoria hired J.T. to get the goods on Brad, and he uncovered Brad and Sharon's affair. Victoria miscarried and filed for divorce. In the interim, she began an affair with J.T., and turned up pregnant again. However, her child's paternity was in question, since she'd also had a one-night stand with Brad. After Reed was born, a DNA test proved J.T. was the boy's father.

2008

Having learned that she was pregnant, Chloe set up Cane to take the fall as her baby's daddy. She got him drunk, offered him a ride home, and convinced him that they'd had sex. A paternity test couldn't exclude Cane as the child's father. Lily persuaded Cane to do the right thing and marry Chloe, which he did. However, after Chloe delivered daughter Delia, she finally revealed the real story: Her little girl belonged to her ex-lover, Billy.
