Where Are They Now? Daniel Quinn (ex-Elliot, PC, 2003; ex-Ralph, Y&R, 2002)

— By Tom Stacy

Though it's been five years since Daniel Quinn played Mackenzie's child-molesting stepdad on YOUNG AND RESTLESS, he's still recognized. "Ralph was a creep, but thankfully the fans like me," he chuckles.

Quinn has juggled episodic work in WITHOUT A TRACE, MONK and CRIMINAL MINDS with film. "Raising Flagg is playing in theaters now," he shares. "Alan Arkin plays a rural handyman dealing with his six kids who all go on to very different careers. It's a great cast: Lauren Holly [ex-Julie, AMC], Glenne Headly, Richard Kind." Quinn is also front and center in video stores. "I did a movie with David Carradine that's being released on DVD this holiday season, called Christmas Miracle at Sage Creek. It will also air on the Encore/Starz channels on Christmas day. Sarah Aldrich [ex-Courtney, PC] played my wife. She just had a baby girl! She's a true talent and just as sweet as they come."

Quinn cracks that he can't escape his Y&R days. "Last night, I was at a gas station, pumping gas. I look over and there's Don Diamont [Brad]. I see Eric Braeden [Victor] at my favorite Italian restaurant, Pane e Vino. I ran into Jeanne Cooper [Katherine] having lunch with Michelle Stafford [Phyllis]. I thought I saw Kelly [Kruger, ex-Mackenzie] on the street the other day, but I didn't want to chase after her like Ralph [laughs]. It was a great daytime posse."

What about a soap comeback? "I would love to," he enthuses. "In all my years of performing, on Broadway, in prime-time, in film, daytime was the most challenging by far. I was doing four to six shows a week, 20 pages a day, six to eight items. CBS and ABC have been very good to me. I haven't worked on NBC as far as daytime goes. At least not yet [laughs]."
