YOUNG AND RESTLESS Feature
Death Becomes Them— By Tom Stacy Sheila Carter: Psycho nurse Sheila seduced Scott and became pregnant while he was separated from Lauren. But after Sheila miscarried in 1991, she still pretended to be preggers, bought a black-market baby, switched it with Lauren's son, Dylan, and renamed the tot Scotty. Sheila married Scott, but when Lauren's "son" died, the lie slowly unraveled. A desperate Sheila kidnapped Lauren, who was rescued from a fire by Paul, and Sheila was
presumed dead in the blaze. Unbeknownst to all, shady Sheila was actually alive and had fled to Los Angeles, and Lauren and her true son were
reunited. In 1995, Sheila resurfaced in Genoa City in an unsuccessful attempt to keep Lauren from moving to L.A. Once back in California, Sheila
continued to wreak havoc on Y&R's sister soap, BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL.
Katherine Chancellor: Talk about double duty! In 1979, Katherine's tryst with gigolo hairdresser Derek irked his ex-wife, Suzanne, so much that she poisoned Katherine with tainted chocolates. Kay's erratic behavior landed
her in Fairview Sanitarium. When Kay realized what had happened, she used a
tragedy to her advantage. When another patient died after torching Kay's
room, she slipped her wedding ring on the charred remains and attended her
own funeral to see if Derek really cared for her. He did, but it didn't
last. In 1980, Katherine grew despondent when Derek dumped her and threw
herself over the side of a cruise ship. She was rescued by and fell in love
with Felipe, a Cuban revolutionary who nursed her back to health and got her
back to civilization. Ironically, she mistakenly believed that he had been
killed when his boat was bombed, but was thrilled to learn he survived, even
though they went their separate ways.
Tyrone Jackson: In 1984, mob henchman Jazz Jackson was ordered to kill his brother, earnest lawyer Tyrone, who had been investigating the gang's
criminal activity. Though the men had their differences, Jazz couldn't kill
his own flesh and blood. They substituted the body of a man whose face had
been blown off for Ty, and mob boss Mr. Anthony bought the ruse. Tyrone
would later bring down the kingpin by disguising himself as a white man and
marrying Mr. Anthony's beloved daughter, Alana. Mr. Anthony was killed in a
shootout and Tyrone literally came clean.
David Kimble: In 1991, Nina learned of her new husband's murderous past and his plans to kill her for her fortune. She shot the bastard, but he
survived. Determined to make Nina pay, Kimble slipped out of his hospital
bed, stole a body from the morgue, dumped it in his room and set the place
ablaze. Nina was relieved to think that the slug was dead, and after several
more unsuccessful evil schemes, David was - after finding himself on the
wrong end of a trash compactor.
Cameron Kirsten: Sharon had one helluva New Year's Eve when Nick's business partner, the wealthy, powerful (and her abusive one-night stand) Cameron tried to blackmail and rape her in a motel room. Sharon hit the sleaze over
the head with a bottle of champagne and, believing she'd killed him, covered her tracks and hid the body, which later disappeared. (Larry had hid it in a sewer to protect her.) Sharon was going crazy with guilt and saw visions of a bloodied Cameron and confessed to Nikki. Cameron resurfaced, claiming that he had been on sabbatical, but was secretly in cahoots with Sharon's rival,
Grace, to destroy Sharon and Nicholas's marriage. After Sharon spilled to Nick, the body in the sewer was found and revealed to be that of Frank
Barritt, Cassie's biological father. Sharon was arrested for his murder, but the young Newmans tricked Cameron into confessing and he went to jail.
