A History of YOUNG AND RESTLESS's Michael Baldwin
1991:
Hotshot lawyer Michael Baldwin (Christian J. LeBlanc) recruited up-and-coming attorney Christine Blair to leave Legal Aid and work with him at his firm. It would be a move which she'd soon come to regret.
1992:
At work, Michael took an awed Chris under his wing. However, Chris's then-husband, Danny, didn't like her spending so much time at the office and became suspicious of her boss. Chris also became wary when Michael kissed her after winning a case. He then told her that she'd advance her career if they took their relationship beyond the courtroom. When she lost her offer for a permanent job at the firm, Chris brought charges against Baldwin, but he denied everything and she was advised to drop the suit.

Michael and Hilary (Kelly Garrison)
— CBS
|
She didn't and learned of other women who'd been harassed by him; Michael retaliated by marrying one of them, Hilary (Kelly Garrison). Chris and Danny eventually staged a public breakup, and Michael invited her to work on a big case with him. When he came on to her, she got it on tape and he was fired. Meanwhile, Hilary left him.
1993:
Danny left to perform in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (as did his portrayer, Michael Damian). Once he was gone, Michael managed to gain access to Hilary's apartment (which was adjacent to Christine's place) and tunneled through to next door. When she came home, he attacked her. Paul rescued Chris and shot Michael; Danny then flew home and attacked a hospitalized Baldwin. Michael was sent to prison, but before he went, he gave Chris a letter of apology and pretended not to remember the incident. Michael tried to get off on an insanity defense, but Chris won the case and he remained in prison for four years.

Michael and Christine (Lauralee Bell)
|
1997:
Michael was up for parole, and despite Christine (Lauralee Bell) testifying against him, was released. He couldn't get a job as a lawyer, but soon returned to his scheming ways when he became a paralegal and advised Phyllis — who was trying to lie that her son was Danny's — to get a blood sample from Daniel's biological father, Brian Hamilton. Phyllis eventually admitted that she'd doctored the results, and Danny sued for custody. She and Michael later hooked up.
1998-99:
Michael got his law license back after he donated a kidney to Danny, and Christine pleaded Michael's case. He became Diane Jenkins's lawyer in her case against Victor (who'd left her for a quickie marriage to Nikki). Phyllis, who became paranoid over Mike's bond with Diane, had him kidnapped. Understandably, he broke it off with Phyll. Michael later represented Alice in her custody battle against the Newmans for Cassie, and was up against Christine. During this time, he briefly hooked up with Grace Turner.
