Born John-Paul Seponski in Phoenixville, Pa., Lavoisier chose his new name after reading about Antoine Lavoisier in a science textbook while attending Phoenixville High School. He went on to enroll in Philadelphia's University of the Arts, where he studied music performance. Although he started out specializing in percussion, Lavoisier followed the beat of his own drum and pursued acting at The School for Film and Television and Michael Howard Studios, both in New York. Laviosier also studied privately with Deborah Mathieu-Byers.

  1. His hobbies include tennis, skiing, golf and magic (a talent he developed in high school).
  2. He dislikes running, as well as suburbs.

  5. In the off-Broadway play Counterfeit Garden, he played an actor who gets to work with a soap actor he idolizes, only to be disappointed.
