On August 23, eight current and former actors from DAYS OF OUR LIVES held a fan event to benefit The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.org). Fans enjoyed mingling with the stars during the day with Q&As and an autograph session, as well as a cocktail reception in the evening. MORE

VIDEO: Fan Q&A with DAYS cast

On March 15, seven past and present actors from DAYS OF OUR LIVES held two events to benefit Childhood Cancer Lifeline in Hartford, CT. Fans were treated to a lively Q&A and autograph session during the afternoon, and a cocktail reception in the evening, where the fans got to mingle with the actors. Those present included Martha Madison, Judi Evans, Nadia Bjorlin, Matthew Ashford, Brandon Beemer, Jay Kenneth Johnson and James Scott. Soap stars from ABC and CBS gathered for the 10th Annual Tammy Rubin-Rice charity softball game in Brooklyn, N.Y., earlier this month. The event raised $8,500, with the ABC team winning 8-6. VIDEO: Foo Fighter's soap parody

A small number of astute readers have noticed that every AS THE WORLD TURNS synopsis I write has a "theme" based around an actor or author or whatever I'm into in that particular week, reflected in the subheads and caption (and almost entirely for my own amusement). The one in the 9/11 issue was in recognition of my eager anticipation of the Foo Fighters' Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, which was released later that month, so the subheads were all songs from that CD including "Long Road To Ruin."
