Singer-songwriter Katy Perry, whose "I Kissed a Girl" music video recently peaked at number two on iTunes Top 100, is set to make her acting debut on YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Perry plays herself in scenes with Joshua Morrow (Nick), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Peter Bergman (Jack) and Sharon Case (Sharon), when she poses for a photo shoot for the second cover of Restless Style. Her scenes air on June 12.

MAY 30
YOUNG AND RESTLESS's Gloria gets so annoyed at seeing Jill and Jeffrey this week, she decides to play a little trick on them. She spikes their coffees with hot sauce. However, Jeffrey is allergic to hot peppers and "He goes into anaphylactic shock," explains Judith Chapman (Gloria). Does Gloria kill again? MAY 23
Cynthia Sikes has been cast as Sabrina's mother, Zara, on YOUNG AND RESTLESS. She'll start taping May 27. Zara is set to arrive in Genoa City on June 19, in time for her daughter's wedding to Victor. Y&R had to do some quick recasting as Finola Hughes (Anna, GH) was all set to do the role, but GH asked her not to. For that story, click here. MAY 22
Hogan Sheffer, former head writer of DAYS OF OUR LIVES and AS THE WORLD TURNS, has been named co-head writer of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. He'll co-write the No. 1 soap with Maria Arena Bell.

MAY 16
The new Y&R magazine Restless Style is going like hotcakes in Genoa City. Now fans can also check out an online version. The show is launching RestlessStyle.com. According to today's press release, "The site offers the latest runway trends, fresh beauty tips and red carpet coverage, in addition to such things as videos, polls, photo galleries and horoscopes." But don't panic, Michael Graziadei (Daniel, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) is only off for six week to film a movie — THE REEF. Daniel will go on tour with Danny starting May 27 — and hopefully have some nice father-son time — and return in July.

MAY 2
Victoria takes control of her career this week on YOUNG AND RESTLESS when she quits Newman and takes a job at Jabot. Victoria Rowell tells Soap Opera Digest about how she found out about Y&R's plans to find a lookalike Drucilla. She first heard the news — from the Digest cover! Socialite Kathy Hilton (Paris and Nicky’s mom) will turn in an appearance as herself on the May 13 episode of Y&R. Hilton will play a friend of Jack's (Peter Bergman). This isn't Hilton's first acting gig. Her IMDb resumé includes roles such as the French Maid in The Exotic Dreams of Casanova in 1971 and Bee Lady in 1973's Invasion of the Bee Girls. And in 2005, she starred in the reality show I WANT TO BE A HILTON, which groomed contestants vying to join high society.

APRIL 11

Gloria gets the keys to the Abbott mansion this week on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. "He throws the keys to the house at her feet," says Judith Chapman (Gloria) gleefully. "I've never been pressured so much," says Y&R's Lauralee Bell, whose Christine will not be returning for the show's 35th anniversary celebration. Just how did the cast feel about THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS' former executive producer/head writer Lynn Latham? In an exclusive interview, an anonymous actor/actress tells Carolyn Hinsey in Carolyn's Corner, what really happened behind the scenes. "She didn't understand the character of Ashley. As YOUNG AND RESTLESS' 35th anniversary approaches on March 26, the show marks another milestone with a record 1,000 consecutive weeks as the highest-rated daytime drama. The soap first hit the Number One in the Nielsens in December 1988, and has remained on top in households for the 1,000th week in a row as of the Feb 25-29 airweek.

Though Y&R has not confirmed Lynn Latham's exit from the show, there has been an executive shuffle: Josh Griffith has been bumped up to Head Writer/Executive Producer and Maria Arena Bell has been named Co-Head Writer of the No. 1 sudser.

FEBRUARY 15
In heartbreaking scenes, Hope succumbs to pancreatic cancer on YOUNG AND RESTLESS this week. "The most difficult part for Hope is she doesn't want him [her son] left alone in the world," says Signy Coleman about Hope's last days. Coleman takes Soap Opera Weekly readers for a trip down Hope-and-Victor memory lane in the latest issue (cover date Feb. 26, 2008).

FEBRUARY 11
Y&R fans have certainly noticed Daniel's ever-evolving hair, which is currently bleached blonde. Digest was determined to get to the root of this hair-raising situation. According to a show rep, actor Michael Graziadei is filming an as-yet-untitled movie where he's playing a surfer, which explains this latest look. And on a side note, Graziadei's co-star: Nia Peeples (Karen) is playing his mom in the movie. JANUARY 20
YOUNG AND RESTLESS has tapped Chris Engen (from SAINTS AND SINNERS and FELICITY) to play Victor Newman Jr., the son of Victor and his former wife Hope. The younger Newman grew up in Kansas after his parents divorced and has been recently M.I.A. Engen's first air date will be February 12.

January 7
Things are about to get hot between ex-lovers Brad and Sharon on Y&R. "It's the tension that exists when people have that organic, sexual chemistry," says Don Diamont (Brad), who delivers a sizzling preview to Digest in the January 15 issue.
