IN OUR OPINION
September 5, 2007From Carolyn Hinsey So DAYS finally gets an interesting, kind of geeky young anti-hero in Nick, and they saddle him with a day player wife named China Lee and her young kids, who he thinks he should adopt. Yes, it's nice to do a social issue story about foster care and adoption, but aren't they already doing that with Patch, Kayla and the unfortunately named baby Pocket? Now we are forced to watch teen Nick be responsible (read: boring) while all his momentum with Chelsea is lost. What's the point? Soaps routinely run out of stories for their popular teens, so they segue them into adult stories that a) age them and b) aren't interesting. If you don't believe me, check out ATWT's Gwen who just lost a baby and is about to line up former porn star/meth addict Alison to be her surrogate mom. Yeah, that'll work. Soaps give the term "babies having babies" a whole new meaning. What's next? I worry that "Pocket's Pregnancy" has a certain alliteration to it...
