AMC Recaps Week of Dec. 19, 2005
Friday, December 23, 2005
At the Chandler manse, a magnanimous JR invited the extended Chandler/Martin clan — and even David! — to stay and join in the celebration of Little Adam's return. JR tossed Di's present for the boy into the fire, which Babe observed. When Babe called him on it, JR scoffed that if Di really gave a damn about the baby, she'd be there right now. "Di is as dead to me as my mother," seethed JR. JR thanked Babe for keeping him calm while their baby was missing; she kissed him to thank him for letting Little A be showered by love by the whole family... Palmer sidled up to Krystal, who assured him she still intended to take Adam to the cleaners. "We'll finalize our plans after the holidays," she whispered.... Babe was touched by David's warm holiday sentiments.... Adam and Krystal decided that they would both sleep in the nursery to keep an eye on Little Adam.... JR approached Babe as she peered at the Christmas tree. "Babe?" he offered hesitantly. "I'm falling in love with you." A smile spread across Babe's face as JR walked away.
At the police station, Derek grilled Jonathan to determine if he was responsible for snatching Little Adam. Jon insisted that he was innocent, then dispatched Erin to complete Lily's Christmas shopping on his behalf. Aidan offered to join her, but Erin turned him down. Later, they ran into each other while jogging and Aidan's heart went out to Erin when she broke down over Jon's ruined Christmas.
Binks protested when Zach insisted that Kendall wanted the divorce and reported that Kendall had admitted to her that she's in love with Zach. Zach said it made no difference because Kendall didn't object when he gave her the divorce papers. "She's afraid!" pointed out Bianca, who encouraged Zach to find his ex and convince her of his love. During her pep talk, Bianca also confirmed that she and Maggie are now a couple. But Zach wouldn't be swayed. "I'd destroy her," he fretted.
At the church, Kendall was freaked out by the presence of Father Clarence and Ryan. Clarence then disappeared, and Kendall and Ryan realized they were locked inside. The presence of a baby doll in the manger further unnerved Kendall, whose frazzled nerves Ryan tried to soothe. "How did I get here?" sighed Kendall, referring not to the church but to this high-stress, confusing juncture in her life. Ryan then told Kendall that he was going to leave town, reminding her that she said she didn't want him around. Ryan noticed something on the ground and picked it up. "Oh, my God," he gasped. He explained to Kendall that, oddly enough, a St. Christopher medal from his childhood (which his father had yanked away from him) was there at the church. Kendall was next in line for a Christmas miracle, as she was reunited with a drawing she'd done of herself as a youngster. An emotional Kendall informed Ryan of her decision to bring their son into the world, although she didn't commit to raising it. "I'm with you, whatever you decide," asserted Ryan, who changed his mind about leaving town. The door, surprise, surprise, was not unlocked.
Tad encountered Father Clarence, who, before vanishing into thin air, told Tad that he knew Dixie and encouraged him to make a wish upon the Christmas star. Tad spoke aloud to Dixie of his feelings for her — and for Di. At a mysterious location, Di strolled into a well-appointed room and said, "I told you I'd come if I could. Merry Christmas, Dixie." Dixie — the real one — turned to face her.

Jon insisted that Aidan stop at the church, where Little Adam had been inserted into the manger scene. Aidan remained suspicious of Jon's motives, and even sparked doubt in Erin, who pressed her brother to tell her if he was guilty. Ultimately, Jon ventured into the church, where he was determined to pray for the child's safe return, and he found the baby. Erin and Aidan followed and came across a beaming Jon with Little Adam. "How did you know to come here?" asked a suspicious Erin. "I didn't know," Jon responded. "God knew."
Adam tried to get Krystal to accept his help as they struggled to cope with Little Adam's disappearance, but she ended up tearing into him for the joy he takes in causing others pain. She tore off after telling Adam she wouldn't be his victim.... Tad joined Ryan's efforts to locate the boy; Ryan resented Tad's lack of faith in Jon's innocence but they ended up having a productive talk about the impact their abusive fathers had had on them. "You're a good man," Tad assured Ryan. When Tad parted ways with Ryan, he came upon a sobbing Krystal and took her into his arms. Adam spied their hug, then delivered the good news to Krystal that the baby had been found.
At Kendall's condo, Zach had a warm reunion with Miranda before Bianca slipped off to give the Slaters a chance to talk. Kendall haltingly tried to express her feelings to Zach but stopped when he handed her the finalized divorce papers. She fought back tears, then put on a show for Zach of being unaffected. When they parted, Zach and Kendall both showed evidence of their devastation, as each was convinced that the other was relieved that the divorce was a done deal.... Kendall nearly got run off the road by a passerby and, with her car stuck, saw a beam of light that beckoned her to follow.... Kendall stumbled into the church; Father Clarence was inside. Kendall was shocked to see the same man of the cloth she'd encountered last Christmas at another church. Ryan then showed up, making the scene just that much more surreal for Kendall.
JR joined in the brouhaha at NEW BEGINNINGS, where Babe was begging Amanda to come clean about Little Adam's whereabouts. Bianca strolled in with Miranda and gasped, "Little Adam's missing?" Babe brought Bianca up to speed, then protested when JR let Jamie and Amanda leave. Amanda admitted to Jamie that she had no clue if she took the baby on account of her latest blackout.... JR got word from Aidan that Little Adam had been found; JR and Babe tore off to reunite with him after Babe shared a nice moment with Bianca. Josh sauntered over to Bianca and introduced himself... Jamie learned that the baby had been found and informed Amanda that he'd been at the church near the park, where she had been prior to her blackout. Amanda was grateful for Jamie's support; Josh observed their tight hug.
At the hospital, Babe and JR cuddled with Little Adam, who'd gotten a clean bill of health from Joe. JR was upset when he saw the snowsuit Little Adam had been wearing, as that proved that a third party had been involved in the tot's disappearance (the snowsuit didn't belong to Little A.). Aidan cast a suspicious glance in Jonathan's direction... Tad, Adam and Krystal joined in the "Little Adam's back" party. The child identified Santa as his kidnapper, so all eyes turned to Jonathan. Derek showed up and arrested Jon. The real culprit, meanwhile, was shown in an undisclosed location.
Bianca assumed that Zach and Kendall had worked things out when she realized her sis wasn't home, but a grouchy Zach showed up and revealed that Kendall had taken off after Zach gave her the final divorce papers. Bianca chastised Zach for not taking Kendall in her arms after Kendall confessed her love.

At the Chandler manse, Krystal and Adam fretted over the disappearance of Little Adam. Adam told Krystal she deserved to lose her grandson, that a few months in prison wasn't sufficient punishment for her role in the baby switch. "You are one mean, unforgiving S.O.B.," seethed Krystal. Adam told Krystal he would never forget what she and Babe put him through when they claimed JR's son had died. Krystal searched the mansion grounds and prayed for the boys safe return. When she crumbled in tears, Adam materialized and apologized for his harsh words to her, enveloping her in a hug. Krystal noted that Adam is just as terrified as she is.
At the NEW BEGINNINGS headquarters, Josh blasted Amanda for having gone missing from the office. She proferred a gift, claiming she'd been at the mall. Amanda reluctantly admitted to Josh that she'd had another blackout. Josh continued his plan to make Amanda think she ís losing her marbles by fibbing that he'd given her contracts to deliver. She, of course, had no memory of such a request.
When Babe and JR arrived at the Pine Cone, JR lunged at Jonathan, accusing him of snatching Little Adam. Ryan ordered JR to back off as Jon insisted he was innocent. Babe noticed suitcases spread out and asked why the Laverys were packing. While still unconvinced that Jon wasn't to blame, JR and Babe allowed that Amanda might be responsible. Ryan grabbed a flashlight and left with JR in search of the missing child. Jon was panicked, so Erin called Aidan and asked for his help. As they scoured outdoors for the child, JR got personal with Ryan, saying he didn't believe that Ryan cares about JR's son when he doesn't give a damn about his own. Ryan was jarred. Aidan drove Erin and Jonathan around; Jon described his previous encounter with Little Adam at the mall to Aidan, who clearly considered Jonathan a suspect in the kidnapping. Suddenly, Jons face lit up. "I know how to find the baby!" he declared, explaining that they needed to go to a church and ask God for help. Inside the nearest church, Little Adam was nestled safely inside a manger scene.
Erica was thrilled when she reunited with Bianca and Miranda at Kendall's condo. She gushed about the glow motherhood had put on Bianca's face. "I get it, Mother," groaned Kendall. Kendall then described her trip with Zach as "interesting". Kendall became upset when she put together that Erica had encouraged Ryan to go after her. Erica reacted badly when Kendall said that Ryan had interrupted what could have been the most pivotal moment of her life. Outside, Zach strolled into the courtyard of the condo complex. Erica grilled Kendall about what "incredible Zach" had done on their divorce trip. "You didn't tell Zach that you loved him, did you?" asked Erica. Kendall told her to butt out. La Kane vowed to respect her daughter's wishes, but pressed Kendall to confirm that the divorce had gone through. Kendall slipped off to check on Miranda; Bianca convinced Erica (who stressed to Bianca that she believes Ryan and Kendall are the loves of each other's lives) to leave on the pretense that Kendall might confide in her if the sisters were left alone. "Coast is clear," Bianca assured Kendall, drawing her back into the living room. Erica knocked on Zach's door. "Tell me that your divorce from Kendall is final," she commanded a bemused Slater, who wouldnít play ball. Kendall admitted to Bianca that she and Zach may not be formally divorce. "You're in love with him!" gasped a supportive Bianca. Kendall expressed her certainty that Zach doesn't love her back, even though he said he does. Bianca poked holes in Kendall's conviction (""You read his diary? His mind?"). Binks urged Kendall to come clean with Zach. "Thatís insane!" scoffed Kendall, pointing to her lousy track record at love. Bianca countered the perhaps Kendall's love life is so screwed up because she, Kendall, is the one who screws it up. Kendall agreed to tell Zach how she feels to get Bianca off her back. There was a knock on the door: It was Zach.
Babe stormed in to the NEW BEGINNINGS office and accused "Santa's slut" (Amanda) of taking her baby. Amanda denied playing any role in taking that "lousy kid". Babe begged Amanda to tell her where her son is. Jamie burst in and told Babe to leave Amanda alone.

Erica was completely surprised when Jack presented her with a beautiful new home. She proclaimed her love for it and for him. Over at Kendall's, she had her own surprise: Bianca and Miranda were in her living room! Kendall was amazed at how much Miranda was talking. "Can you teach her to say, 'Auntie Kendall's life is in shambles?'" she asked. Bianca promised her sister that she was there to help put the pieces back together. The sisters chatted about Kendall's baby and Kendall admitted that she didn't think she was cut out to be a mother.
At the Chandler Mansion, Krystal and Adam were still hot and heavy, but Winifred interrupted them. She had a present for Little Adam. Krystal wanted to take it up right away, but Adam stopped her. Upstairs, while the mysterious Santa was taking Little Adam from the nursery, Babe asked JR if there was still a chance they could be a family. When he didn't give her the answer she was looking for she wondered, "Did you ever even love me or can you finally admit I was just a way to mess with your father?" At the Pine Cone, Erin and Aidan played with Jonathan's train under the Christmas tree. When Ryan returned, the site shocked him so much he thought he was in the wrong room. Ryan, Erin and Aidan proceeded to fight over Jonathan's intentions. (Déjà vu anyone?) This time the fight got so heated that the two grown men ended up falling into the Christmas tree. A Santa-suit clad Jonathan walked in and witnessed it all.
We interrupt this recap to bring you this breaking news: The transit strike in New York City is, sadly, still going on. Now back to your regularly scheduled recap.
After the news break-in, JR was downstairs with his father at the Chandler Mansion. Krystal and Babe ran into the living room to join them and were frantic. They couldn’t find Little Adam. JR accused Babe of baby-napping again, but the group quickly realized Little A was in serious trouble and began searching for him. When JR and Babe noticed the secret door open in the nursery, they figured out he was taken. JR immediately remembered Jonathan’s threatening words and he and Babe headed over to the Pine Cone. At the Pine Cone, Aidan was gone, the tree was back up and Jonathan, Ryan and Erin were planning to leave Pine Valley. Not so fast! JR ran in and grabbed Jonathan. “What did you do with my son?!” he demanded.
Meanwhile, Sam went to see Lily, wanting her forgiveness for his awful behavior. She accepted his apology, but told him she didn’t want to be his girlfriend anymore. When Reggie returned home, Lily asked him to make Sam leave. Sam left on his own, stating that he was going to LA to visit his family for the holidays. Over at their new house, Erica and Jack celebrated their happiness with a picnic by the fireplace. Then they proceeded to christen their new home. Meanwhile, Kendall told Bianca she was having a little boy, and she was scared to death that she’d never develop feelings for her son. When Bianca suggested adoption, Kendall reminded Binks of her troubles with her adoptive parents. The sisters decided to stop the discussion for the evening and just share some girl time. Their plans were interrupted with a knock at the door: It was Erica.

At the still-raging party at the Chandler manse, Palmer and Adam nearly came to blows before entertainment of another sort was proferred: the video of a soused Adam tying the knot with Krystal back in Crow Hollow. Adam tried to convince the Chandler board that Palmer and Krystal were just trying to make him look incompetent in an effort to get him unseated as CEO. "I am not insane!" bellowed Adam. Krystal sent the merry-makers home. Krystal was thrown when Adam then grabbed her and kissed her passionately.
Babe warned JR that she had a shot at using the proper legal channels to regain custody of her son but told him she loved him too much to keep Little Adam away from him. Over in the nursery, a mysterious someone dressed as Santa (as Jonathan and Amanda had been previously) sneaked in to visit Little Adam... Babe questioned JR when she saw an engagement ring he'd picked out, laying on thick her jealousy at the notion of him with another woman. Babe admitted her desire to marry JR herself before heading into the nursery. JR followed her, and they were concerned when they realized that someone had given candy to the baby; JR pointed out that one of Krysal's guests was probably culpable. "Santa" observed them as they put Little Adam back down to sleep. After JR and Babe left the room, "Santa" approached the baby... Back in his room, JR confessed that while he doesn't trust Babe, he doesn't hate her, either. "Are you saying there's still hope for us?" she asked. "Santa", meanwhile, lured away the baby with a candy cane.
Jamie stopped by Tad's office seeking advice about Amanda, who he feared had inherited Janet's mental instability. Tad doubted that Amanda could pull off all the elaborate stunts that Kendall, David et al had fallen prey to. Jamie denied to Tad that he's still in love with Babe but acknowledged that he doesn't want her to get hurt. Tad advised Jamie to play Amanda in order to get to the truth.
Aidan's search for Jonathan took him to the Pine Cone, where Erin was forced to admit that she didn't know where her brother was. Lily showed up at the Lavery's motel room and baffled Erin and Aidan with this announcement: "Jonathan did it!" What she meant, as it turned out, was that Jonathan had kept his promise not to put any red items on his Christmas tree. Lily, Aidan and Erin then got a toy train up and running before Lily left.
Erica sent Josh out of her office to she could talk privately with Greg, who told Erica that he fell madly in love with her the moment he laid eyes on her. "You can't confuse a crush with love," she responded, but Greg insisted that he was indeed in love with Erica. Josh listened in via a bug he'd placed in Erica's office as Greg said that if Erica wasn't married to Jack, Greg would make a move on her. Erica stormed out; Josh entered and asked Greg if what he'd just told La Kane was true. Greg berated Josh for spying on him, told his son that he'd told Erica the truth, then warned him never to betray him again.... Erica called Tad to fill him in about her chat with Greg. Erica commanded Tad to keep digging into Greg's past, as intuition told her something wasn't adding up.
