AMC Recaps Week of June 27, 2005

Friday, July 1, 2005
Babe went to Adam and offered to expose Di/Dixie as a fake, but the deal came with "big fat ropes" instead of strings — she wanted Krystal's release in exchange. When Adam wouldn't have her released without seeing the proof first, Babe refused and he passed on the bargain. When Di/Dixie returned to the Chandler mansion, Adam claimed to want to bury the hatchet — "in the middle of your back, you fake. You're done." Game on. Earlier, Di visited Krystal in prison and asked her to keep quiet about their prior relationship, but Krystal questioned Di's motives and wondered if Di might really be Dixie. Di pitched a deal: Krystal would keep quiet and Di would help Babe with JR. Instead, Krystal offered to keep the secret if Di could prove she really is Dixie. David arrived and urged Krystal to keep quiet for their daughter, but Krystal was wary because of her role in the baby switch and asked for time to think. Babe told her mama she remained confident she'd be released.

Zach interrupted Josh and Erica's business talk: he had found Val working undercover at the casino, dressed in drag. Erica announced it was a professional research mission for an expose, but Zach reminded her that bringing him down would hurt Kendall as well. Still, Erica remained confident. "This time the odds aren't with the house. They're with me," she snarked. Josh pitched a segment on Babe for New Beginnings, but Erica ordered him to never speak Babe's name again.

David provided Ryan with the potion to control his anger, but not until he pledged not to hurt Greenlee. Meanwhile at Fusion, Greens announced to Kendall and Simone that she's pregnant. But Kendall urged Greenlee to wait until she takes a pregnancy test to tell Ryan (you know you're in trouble when KENDALL thinks your actions are extreme). Simone wanted to celebrate with tequila, but the ladies settled for milk instead. Just then Ryan arrived and wanted to know what they were celebrating. Simone claimed that she and Ethan joined a bowling league. Ryan and Greenlee left for his surprise of a romantic dinner at the boat house. Zach comforted a concerned Kendall.

Amanda went to JR for more cash, but he fired her. He couldn't care less if she broke up Jamie and Babe. "You are too scared to do anything to upset little mommy," she bitterly said and then left. "She's right," Adam picked up. Adam explained he thought his son had completely changed since "Dixie" returned. JR presented him with more information he was sure his father wouldn't like: JR wanted to move out of Chandler Mansion and into his own home with Little Adam and Dixie. When JR left, Adam picked up a photo of Di with his son. "You're not going to take my son away from me!" he yelled, and threw the photo. Cue Babe's entrance. "I can make her disappear."

Aidan struggled to explain "second base" to Lily. He warned her Sam might not have been talking about baseball. Before their conversation could continue, Amanda popped by. She said she wanted a job, but Lily pointed out Amanda was flirting with Aidan and she didn't like it. "You're kind of weird," Amanda groaned. Just as Lily started to leave, Aidan stopped her. It only took Amanda a minute to realize who Lily was once she mentioned her last name. "She's my step-sister!" she squealed. Lily remembered her from their childhood, but stated Amanda was different now — she was mean. Aidan escorted Lily out of the park and away from Amanda.

Jamie berated Tad for proposing to Krystal. He thought his dad was just doing it to get to Dixie. Tad countered that was completely untrue. And while explaining his love for Krystal to his son, Brooke walked in. "That conniving, low-life, snake!" she yelled. She was furious Tad was marrying Krystal again. Brooke admitted she tried to bribe Krystal to let Tad go. "You've definitely been spending too much time around Adam Chandler," quipped Tad, but pledged his love for Krystal. He didn't care what anyone else thought.

Di showed up at David's and threw the money David paid her back in his face. "Our deal is as dead as your beloved Dixie," she spat and announced she was playing the rest of this by herself. She didn't want to see the family getting hurt. Ahhh! "You're falling in love with Dixie's family," claimed David. JR needed her, she explained. She wasn't going to abandon him. It wasn't about money to her; JR just couldn't lose his mother again. She threatened to expose him if he didn't back off. One problem: Krystal. "Like it or not, you still need me," David grinned. There was no response from Di, she simply stormed out of his cabin.

At the prison, Krystal told a horrified Babe that Dixie was really Di Kirby. Babe was furious with David for being the mastermind behind this, but mother and daughter talked about the possibilities they could have if they didn't say anything. Babe could get Little Adam back and Krystal could get out of jail. Krystal couldn't do that, though. She had to tell Tad that Di was a fake. Babe took her mother's hand and agreed. "I'm with you all the way," she assured her mom. Then Babe's eyes lit up as a plan came to her mind. "The truth is going to come out, but it's going to come out my way," she warned and fled the prison. Krystal proved to be a popular inmate when she had another visitor by the end of the episode: Di.

At the Chandler Mansion, Di was persistent about moving out. Palmer conveniently appeared and told her she could stay with him. It became a mini-family reunion before any decisions could be made when Opal, Ruth and Joe were all reunited with "Dixie." Later, Di/Dixie had a little one-on-one with JR. She couldn't watch JR do to his son what she and Adam did to him. She worked a miracle and convinced JR to invite everyone — including Babe and Jamie — to the Fourth of July picnic. His act of kindness was enough for her to stay put at the Chandler Mansion.

At the prison, Tad got down on one knee (somehow the romance still wasn't lost despite being in a prison!) and asked Krystal to marry him. Dixie's homecoming gave him closure, he shared and then romanced her with words and a kiss. Tearfully she told him she couldn't marry him, but he wouldn't hear any of that. He presented her with a ring and promised her it would be waiting on her. Then he head out, and Krystal was left with no chance to tell him that Di was really her ex-prison pal. However, later in the episode she spilled to Babe who came to visit and share the good news about the picnic. Back at Tad's place, Tad informed his son he was getting married, to which Jamie replied: "Have you lost your flipping mind?!" (Maybe he realized that would make his fiancèe his step-sister!)

Ryan discovered Greenlee's ovulation test and turned to Kendall, "My wife hasn't given up on having a baby, has she?" Ryan asked Kendall to convince Greenlee what a bad idea that would be and Kendall in returned begged that Ryan get help. After telling her he could look out for himself, he ordered her to admit the test was Greenlee's. Simone tried to cover and pass it off as hers, but unluckily for her, Ethan came in and heard every word she said. "Crap!" she muttered and immediately led Ethan out of the room to set the record straight with her beau privately. "None of it is true," she promised. "I would never use a baby to trap you into marriage." He believed her immediately and she was touched. Meanwhile, downstairs, Kendall admitted to her former lover just how worried she was for him. She was scared when she saw that fight club. Ryan blew up in anger and demanded Kendall get the idea of a baby out of Greenlee's mind.

Too late. Over at David's cabin, the dastardly doctor informed Greens he couldn't let her go through the insemination. He knew about the fight club and he went on to tell Greenlee about the drug Ryan requested from him to eliminate his rage. It took a while, but Greenlee convinced David to give Ryan a placebo instead. She was positive this was all in Ryan's mind. If she was wrong, she'd take her baby and leave. She convinced him to inseminate her right then and there. After the very short and uncomplicated procedure (performed right there in David's cabin during the commercial break!) Greenlee grinned, "I can feel it, David. I'm pregnant."

David warned Krystal that she would cost Babe her son if Krystal outed Dixie as her former cellmate. She hung up on him when he demanded to know what her decision was. David then flung open his door; Ryan was there. He revealed to Doc Hayward that he's in a fight club and asked David to concoct a drug that will help him stop, that will kill his rage. David was impressed when Ryan articulated the lengths he'd go to to make sure his problems don't harm Greenlee. David then agreed to try to whip up a chemical cure for Ryan. After Ryan left, the phone rang. It was the lab calling with the results of the DNA samples he'd sent over.

In jail, Krystal fantasized about JR granting joint custody to Babe. In the reverie, Di was the angel who made it all possible. In Krystal's next fantasy, she was released from jail with Adam's help. David's words, about how everyone could get what they want if she went along, rang in her ears as she weighed her options.

Di stood up to Adam and JR when they came down on her for allowing Jamie into the house. Adam tried to storm away but JR wouldn't let him leave without handing back the toothbrushes that contained a DNA sample from Di. Back in the living room, Jamie lashed out at Di for the hurt she had caused Tad. Di reminded Jamie that almost dying changes a person. When things get heated between JR and Jamie, Babe takes Little Adam out of the room. "Enough!" demands Di, who accused JR of being even worse than his father. Di then announced that she was moving out because she couldn't bare to see JR eaten alive by hate.

At Wildwind, Maria had a series of flashbacks to happier times with Edmund and the kids as she prepared to leave the estate, and Pine Valley. Tad, Aidan and Isabella then showed up to bring her and Maddie to the airport. Meanwhile, Myrtle observed that Zach is far from okay with Maria leaving town; he insisted he'd be fine. Myrtle made a strong case for Zach making true peace with Maria before she goes. At the airport, Joe and Brooke assured Maria that Sam would be fine. Maria and Brooke shared a heartfelt good-bye and acknowledged tearfully that would miss each other. Aidan and Anita exchanged a fond farewell kiss. Sam told his mom that he loves her; they hugged tightly. Maria was on the verge of boarding her flight when she tossed one last look toward the waiting area. Zach strolled up and flashed her a bittersweet smile. Maria tearfully smiled back, then turned away and got on the plane.

Kendall and Simone beseeched Greenlee to think carefully about going through with the insemination. Greenlee refused to be talked out of her plan. Simone then wished her pal luck, but Kendall put in one more attempt to dissuade Greenlee, reminding her stepsister that Ryan's flashes of rage are truly dangerous. "A baby could push Ryan right over the edge," she cautioned. Later, Greenlee arrived at David's cabin and announced that she had made a decision about having Ryan's baby. Back at Fusion, Kendall and Greenlee fretted over the choice Greenlee was poised to make. Ryan walked in and asked where his wife was. Kendall said she wasn't sure. Ryan then spied the ovulation kit and fixed a suspicious look on Kendall.

"Ryan!!!" Greenlee screamed when she discovered her husband in the midst of a fight club. While he was being pulverized, she begged him to stop fighting, but it fell on deaf ears. After a disturbing music montage of watching this fight, Zach and Ethan tore a bloody Ryan off of his opponent. Once Greenlee was alone with her husband she silently cleaned his wounds. When she finally spoke, she tearfully told him she couldn't let him kill himself. "Nothing has scared me enough to run until now...You were someone else in that ring," she cried, wondering why he was doing this. "I have to do it to keep you safe," he explained. He didn't trust himself anymore. The episode ended with the two of them in an embrace. (Hope she was careful with all of those bruises on his battered six-pack!)

With Babe working, Jamie had to deal with Amanda's come-ons by himself, again. "Do you have to be so damn tasty?" she asked. His "BS detector" immediately went off and he called her on it. They then decided to surprise Babe at the bar, where she was getting to know Josh, who was helping her out bartending. After discussing Erica's new show, Jamie and Amanda interrupted Babe and Josh. Babe was quick to introduce Amanda to Josh, but Amanda spent the remainder of the episode trying to sell Josh on Babe, stating Babe and Jamie weren't as close as they seemed.

Protective-daddy Jack was going ballistic because Lily and Sam were late. "This is their first and last date ever," he grunted. When Lily and Sam finally returned, Jack attacked. But Erica held him back encouraging the kids to explain what happened. The kids told the story about transportation problems and Jack finally calmed down. Lily and Sam said good-bye (with the 'rents watching). Then Lily dished her date with her new mother as Jack and Reggie listened on. When Lily got to the recap about the movie she explained she didn't see much. "Why is that?" Erica asked. That's easy; she was practicing her kissing. But the kicker was when she asked, "What's second base?" (Poor Jack!)

After rescuing Ryan from the fight club, Kendall informed Zach of Greenlee's insemination troubles and her dire need to get pregnant. After seeing Ryan fight, Kendall was obviously worried about her friend. Did she try to stop Greenlee from getting pregnant? Or sit back and watch the train wreck? "Self-destructive men shouldn't have children," Zach painfully advised.
