Ethan and Simone bumped into Ryan at the casino bar. Simone suspected that Ethan and Ryan had arranged to meet for some kind of "Zach attack"; the guys denied it. Ryan then asked what the phrase "pull the plug" meant to them, as Julia's warning to Zach had placed emphasis on those words. After Ryan departed, Simone told Ethan about her own father issues and urged him to drop his vendetta against Zach; Ethan said that he already had.... Ryan broke into Zach's office and began to snoop around. He turned up some highly curious documents...
Kendall observed that Zach was preoccupied and entreated him to tell her what was on his mind. He maintained that nothing was bothering him, but told him to stop when she began going on and on about what an amazing man he is. Zach told Kendall that he's no hero, that his arrogance has blown up in his face. His comments didn't make sense to Kendall until it dawned on her that perhaps he'd lied again. He allayed her concerns and they shared a lovey-dovey moment. Zach then left to check on things at the casino. Shortly thereafter, Kendall decided to follow.... Zach approached his office door, where Ryan was still inside.
Tad and Di pressed Amanda to tell them whatever she knows about the missing Pine Valley-ites. Jamie jumped to Amanda's defense. Amanda insisted that she was innocent and Jamie ordered Tad to back off. Amanda thought that Jonathan was obviously responsible for the kidnappings. When Tad pointed out how ingenious the culprit must be, Amanda grew pale. Tad noticed but stopped pumping Amanda for info when he got a call telling him Joe's cell phone location had been tracked. After everyone left, Amanda placed a frantic call to Janet.
Inside the cargo truck, Adam, Opal, Joe and Krystal yelped for help. Brooke pointed out that their captor was clearly already gone. The cargo began to shift, so the quintet realized that the truck was poised to make a plunge. Brooke, given her past experience with quicksand, recognized what the truck was sinking into. Fearing they might soon die, Adam apologized to Brooke for being an unfaithful husband; Krystal and Adam then complimented one another's skill in the sack.
JR urged Babe to believe that together, they could get through anything. "You have no idea how low I could still sink," she sighed. JR pointed out that they've both seen the worst of what each other is capable of. "What piece of nasty are you waiting to tell me?" he asked. She said that there had been times during their battles that she'd wanted to rip his heart out, which he replied came as no surprise. Babe was on the verge of confessing her plan to marry him for custody of the baby when Winifred entered with Little A., who'd had a bad dream. JR bolted when Tad called to report that Joe's location had been pinpointed.
Janet, dressed as a clown selling balloons, approached Jonathan as he sat on the park bench. He hoped she was a hallucination, but she was all too real, she made it clear. Janet barked at Jon that unless he followed her orders, people would start to die. She insisted that he head to Willow Lake immediately in order to prevent a tragedy. Jon did as he was told and began to wrench open the truck door, then ran away. Janet, who had trailed Jon, lamented his inability to perform the job she'd given him. "Now all these people are going to die," she sighed. As a hidden Janet watched, Jon returned with a better tool to jimmy open the truck. "What the hell are you doing?" questioned Tad, who had just arrived on the scene with JR and Jamie.

Tad and Di showed up at the Lavery penthouse for a visit with Jonathan. Di gave Jon a gift as thanks for helping to rescue her. Jon got riled up when Di and Tad informed him that Adam doesn't believe he's a changed man and asked his guests to leave. They bought more time, so Di told Jon that she believes someone pushed her into the water that night, which made him insist that they exit. Jon, shaken by the encounter and by memories of his confrontation with Janet, went to take a walk when Erin returned home.... Tad and Di sat in the park and tried to figure out what the heck happened to their loved ones. They shot down David and Greg as suspects, then Tad realized he and his dad have the same phone, which contains a GPS system. He called the phone company and asked them to track down Joe's location.
When the cops asked JR for a list of Adam's enemies, he grumbled, "There's not enough paper on the planet." After hanging up with the police, JR assured Babe that they would locate Krystal and Adam soon. When she claimed that Krystal and Little Adam are all she has, JR said she had him, too. "I love you, Babe," he declared, telling her that he wanted to marry her as soon as their parents were home. Babe was dubious, so JR worked to convince her of his sincerity. "I can't marry you," she sighed. "I can't let this go on, not without telling you the truth."
Under the influence of laughing gas, Adam told Krystal that he loves her. "I love you, too," she replied. They began kissing passionately as Joe, Opal and Brooke looked on and howled. In his drugged state, Adam even enjoyed the idea of Babe and JR remarrying and them going on a double honeymoon. The effects of the gas abruptly wore off on the quintet of hostages, ending Adam and Krystal's lovey-dovey moment and the card game between Opal, Joe and Brooke. Adam and Krystal bickered about their declarations of love, which they both retracted.
Janet evaded Amanda's questions about her recent activities, delivering a cover story bizarre enough to make Amanda ask her whether she'd been taking her meds. Janet left, but Amanda remained unsettled by their conversation. She became more rattled when Jamie returned home and reported that Brooke and Joe were missing.... Janet berated herself for nearly spilling the beans to Amanda, then got a stroke of inspiration as to what to do next. She got behind the wheel of the truck and drove off as her captives yelled for help.... Tad and Di went over to Jamie's, where Tad grabbed Amanda and demanded that she tell him whatever she knows about what happened to the missing Pine Valley-ites.... Janet deliberately parked the truck where it was in danger of tumbling into the quicksand...
Julia went to Zach's office and asked him point-blank if he wanted Kendall's baby. Zach said he wouldn't create a problem for anyone — her, Kendall, Ryan, the child. Julia asked Zach to convince Kendall that she's not the devil.
Kendall told Ryan not to play mind games with her after he proposed. He countered that sooner or later, they needed to deal with the baby issue and he needed her not to marry Zach. She promised not to make a major decision about the baby without conferring with him, but he insisted upon securing his legal rights to the child. Ryan departed when Zach returned to the condo. Zach supported Kendall's decision to grant Ryan's request for legal rights, then carried her off to bed.
Ryan returned home and Erin noted that he seemed distracted, just like Jonathan had earlier. Ryan, clutching a newspaper clipping, said that he had a hunch about something and needed to go check it out, as it might involve his son.
David stopped over at Wildwind to put the moves on Julia. She broke away from the kiss he planted on her to tell him that tonight wasn't going to work for her. "No problem," he shrugged. After surveying her empty home, though, Julia changed her mind and invited David to stay the night.

Zach visited Ryan's new office at Cambias, where an argument over Kendall's unborn son soon broke out. Ethan arrived, so Ryan excused himself. Ethan told Zach it was his idea to bring Ryan back to the company. "He's using you to get to me," warned Zach. Ethan scoffed at the notion. Zach accused Ethan of having a Kendall-related vendetta against him; Ethan said he was happy with Simone, but wasn't going to sit back and watch Zach destroy the potential happiness between Ryan and Kendall. Zach deduced that Ethan is still smarting over Zach abandoning him and his mother. Ryan, alleged Ethan, is better for Kendall and the baby than Zach will ever be.
Julia showed up at Kendall's and implored her irritated rival to disengage from Ryan so that the Ryan/Zach war doesn't escalate further. Kendall accused Julia of falling for Ryan, which Julia denied. Ryan listened in as Julia and Kendall squabbled over what was best for him. Kendall then doubled over in pain, gasping that something was wrong with the baby. Ryan burst in and tried to help assist Kendall, whom Julia diagnosed with heartburn. Ryan asked Julia to leave so they could talk about the future of their child. Once alone with Kendall, Ryan grilled Kendall about the nature of her chat with Julia. Kendall told Ryan that she'd asked Zach to back off Ryan and told Ryan to get Julia to reign it in. Ryan assured Kendall he didn't want any trouble — then stunned her with a marriage proposal.
Jamie had a hard time disentangling himself from a fretful Amanda in order to head to the Chandler mansion, where Palmer, Tad, Di, JR and Babe had gathered to try to figure out where Adam, Krystal, Opal, Joe and Brooke disappeared to. Tad defended Di when the rest of the group came down hard on her and was impressed by her handling of the situation. JR pointed out that everybody who is missing is connected to him, Babe and Jamie. Babe wondered if Amanda could be the culprit, which an arriving Jamie overheard and dismissed as ludicrous. JR called Jamie out on having come to truly believe in Amanda's innocence. Tad called Derek to report that their loved ones had gone missing then left with Di in tow. Once alone with Babe, JR asked her if she was all right. She admitted that she was scared for her mama. "We'll find them," said JR reassuringly.... Tad and Di went to see Jonathan at the Lavery penthouse.
Janet rigged a tank of laughing gas to seep into the truck where her captives were stashed. The kidnapping victims realized that gas was creeping in and got on the ground to avoid inhaling it (Adam with great reluctance). Nonetheless, they began feeling the effects of the gas and started giggling up a storm. As things continued to loosen up inside the truck, Krystal and Brooke traded intimate notes on their shared lovers, Adam and Tad. Adam joined the ladies and proposed a threesome, a suggestion that was met with howls from the gals. Joe, meanwhile, literally fell over with glee over not being responsible for whatever was going on at the hospital.... Adam told Krystal that she's the light of his life and that he loves her.
Myrtle stopped by Jamie's place to see if Amanda was going to move out of the boardinghouse. Amanda said she wasn't ready yet to give up her room, even though she's falling head over heels for Jamie. She asked Myrtle for advice on becoming a woman worthy of Jamie's love. "Just be you," recommended Myrtle. Amanda didn't think that would do the trick and pondered becoming a nurse, an idea Myrtle shot down. Janet showed up in time to overhear Amanda asking Myrtle if she thought Amanda was crazy "like her mother." She gave Amanda a pair of earrings that matched her own and asked her daughter if she was ashamed of her. Amanda promised Janet that she doesn't think she's nuts but went on alert when Janet made a comment about "everything she'd done" on Amanda's behalf.

Julia arrived at Ryan's office and announced: "I think you may be in danger, Ryan." She feared Zach would hurt Ryan. He was quick to inform her that Zach didn't scare him, but promised to be careful. Ryan then got Jules to tell him what was bothering her. She broke down about Noah, Garret and how alone she was. Ryan comforted her, but went back to his business after she left. Elsewhere, Zach served Kendall breakfast in bed. When he gave her the morning paper, they both learned Ryan was back at work at Cambias Industries. Zach was, of course, less than pleased, but Kendall tried to calm him down. When Zach received a phone call, he kissed Kendall good-bye, left and headed straight to Ryan's office. Later, as Kendall was getting ready to leave, she opened her door and found Julia on her doorstep. Meow!
Dressed in her latest disguise (as a state trooper), crazy Janet continued to torment Jonathan. She pretended to be his imaginary friend and made him think he was losing his mind. "What if they took too little tumor and too much brain!" she taunted. Then she planted the idea that he could be responsible for the truck incident and left. When Erin returned home, a frantic Jonathan demanded to know if the doctor got all the tumor out. Erin tried to calm her bother down and assure him that indeed they did.
Tad showed up at Di's hospital room, where she was packing for her release. He surprised her by announcing JR came by to visit when she was unconscious, then he assured her his feelings for her were real. "I want to make this work," he smiled. Del arrived and played his big, bad brother card. Tad physically got rid of him and warned him to stay away from Di — and his mother. Meanwhile, at the Chandler mansion, JR and Babe were both distressed over not being able to find their parents. JR blamed Krystal, and Babe blamed Adam. But when JR read the note that was sent to him again, he realized they were kidnapped. As if JR wasn't in a bad enough mood, Tad brought Di by so she could thank him for coming by the hospital. JR had spiteful words for Di, but Babe stepped in and told Tad that Krystal was missing. Tad, Babe and JR grew even more worried when they found out Brooke, Joe and Opal were all missing as well.
In the truck full of vets, Krystal, Adam, Opal, Joe and Brooke all woke up confused and alarmed of their whereabouts (and why their shoes were missing!). Krystal immediately thought her hubby was the culprit, but he was ruled out. None of them had cell phones so they all started banging on the walls, hoping someone would hear them. But alas, they were stuck. They all worked together to compile a list of suspects, which Erica, Petey, Babe and David all graced. Later, when Krystal revealed Palmer had proposed to her, Opal attacked her — literally. Then Brooke and Adam added their two cents to make for even more entertaining fighting, but it was all interrupted when Joe heard something from outside. It was Janet, who was feeding a hose into the truck and turning on her "fun gas."
